There are many things you thought you could always be positive of. Things like gravity, the concept of night and day, the idea of right and wrong. These were the things that were supposed to be common knowledge. These were supposed to be the facts.
There are infinitely more things that were only supposed to happen in fiction. Things like love at first sight, wild inhuman powers, shadowy figures and unknown evils. These were the things you were only ever supposed to read about.
So when you start to notice fantasy like shadows at the corners of your vision, shadows that grow into a near constant feeling of being watched, and the beginnings of powers fizzling into existence within your grasp, things begin to fall apart.
You are not who you thought you were, and more importantly,
you are not what you thought you were.

As you come to realise these powers are not leaving, you likewise realize that the shadows that haunt your vision are growing closer by the day, more apparent, more dangerous. You can sense that they mean to do you harm, and you are left with no choice but to run.
But it’s like the taunts from the cheesiest horror movie come true, you can run, but you cannot hide. Eventually, you are caught, and taken away.
You don’t know where they’ve taken you, but when you wake up you’re in dark room, in a cold metal cage in an equally cold metal room.
But you are not alone.
All around you, there are similarly sized cages, each housing another other disoriented teens and adults. No one knows why they are here, who brought them here, or what will be done to them. There is only one piece of common knowledge, everyone in the cages around you have powers.
And this is where our story picks up.
How will you escape? Will you work with the people around you, or try to stake it out on your own? Or will you simply give up, and let the lab coats do with you what they will?
Only time will tell, and in the meantime you are left casting glances in the dark.

• This is a semi-lit rp. That means posts should be at least 4-5 complete

or other fantasy creatures. Shifters may only shift into one animal. •

• Each character may choose an optional power, like fire control, levitation,
or water breathing, etc. •

• Overpowered or god like characters are not allowed, everyone will have strengths
and weaknesses that equal out. •

• Any fights must be fair, and attacks must be attempted attacks, only confirmed by
the other person's post. For example; “Person one swings thier fist at person two.”
“Person two jerks back as person one's fist hits them.” •

• If there are overly graphic or sexual scenes, fade to black. All relationships must be
consensual, and any allegations toward nonconsensual sexual acts will result in
your immediate eviction from the rp. •

• Characters may of course, be any sexuality and gender they so choose,
we welcome and encourage diversity. •

• Drama is encouraged to keep things moving, but all OOC conversation {including marks} should be kept civil and on the Discussion thread.
In addition, any massive plot changing drama should be discussed with me first. •

When Ashlyn came too, she did so rather violently, snapping upright and shifting around with a disgruntled noise. She was sitting in a metal cage, freezing air brushing past her as she moved again, shuffling to the front of her cage and peering out into the open between the bars. It was dark, but she could make out row upon row of cages lining the inside of the massive warehouse like room. To her surprise however, it seem like only a few of the cages were actually occupied. She took a breath, trying to calm her erratic breathing as she tried to identify the people around her, but out of the eight other people it seemed she knew only one of them, Aiden her trusty best friend and partner in crime, whose cage was luckily right next to her. Frustration was beginning to boil in her stomach as she tested the bars of her cage, and tried to break the lock on the door with no luck. She turned her attention back to Aiden, and stuck her arm through the bars of her cage to swing at the bars of his cage in an attempt to get his attention, her nails making a terrible noise as they scratched across the metal. "Aiden! Mate you gotta get up, we're in a bit of a situation here" She hissed at him, giving her arm another half hearted swing.
The last thing she remembered was running down an alley way with Aiden at her heels, they had been trying to get away from a group of shadows, but had gotten pinned. It was her fault. She bit her lip and glared at the bars of her cage, was it safe to assume the shadows had brought them here? Or were there people controlling the shadows? She looked around again, figuring it was fairly safe to assume the people around them also had powers. She and Aiden had been trying to find others like themselves, and she grinned a bit, maybe this would just help to jump start their plan of forming a safe group for others like them. Assuming they were able to escape. "Is anyone else awake?" she called into the cold air, hoping to get some kind of response as her brain raced to come up with a plan.

Aidan dizzily sat up, dark, blurry images swirling in his vision. He rubbed his eyes, barely remembering anything. All he could remember was him fighting like hell and getting knocked out. He looked up, just barely hearing Ashlyn next to him. "Gah-what happened?" He barely formed the words, rubbing the back of his head while doing so. He slowly stood up and moved closer to Ashlyn, giving his best smile. He gave a thumbs-up, clearly not doing so hot at the moment.

Jackie had already been in the "prison" for awhile now. She was sitting against the back wall of her cage, picking at her ripped jeans. She took a heavy breath, hearing something. She moved forward to the front bars to watch two newcomers being dragged in. She sighed, wondering how many more would be coming in. She stared at her own bars, clearly much smaller spaces in between than normally. She sat back, awaiting for the two to wake up. When they did, she wasn't surprised how they reacted, she had watched few others react similarly. "Hi, hello." She barely made out the words, probably due to her social anxiety. She made a small wave. Jackie was across from the two newcomers.

Evelyn perked up at the sound of voices. She had tried the lock, she couldn't do it, not to mention she had absolutely no tools, not even a hair pin. That was unusual in itself, and kind of bothered her more than being in the cage. However they had made an unpickable, she wanted to destroy the plans to avoid this embarrassment. Not to mention there was only a door, not even an air vent she could use.
"Annoyed Brit over here!" she called. "Don't bother trying the locks, you can't pick them."

She offered Aiden a grin, and while it showed her relief he was okay as one could be in this situation, it was somewhat lack-luster. She knew they were in hot water. She retracted her arm into her cage and quickly recounted what had landed them in this predicament, "Alleyway, got cornered, shadow people, lots of fighting, I might have lit a building on fire, Remember?" She listed off quickly as she twisted around to face the other side of her cage, her attention drawn to the British sounding woman who had spoken. "Trust me, I think we're all pretty annoyed. But tell me, do you have some kind of power?" She asked, pushing her dusky red hair out of her face and she glanced over the cages till she spotted where the voice had come from. "I have a pretty strong suspicion all of us here do, especially if we were all dragged here by shadowy figures with no faces." She added with a dry laugh. Her fingers went from drumming on the edge of her cage, to fiddling with the lock on the door of her cage, never staying still for more than a few seconds.
Her head snapped around to the sound of someone else waking up, and then tilted to the side as she realized how young the girl looked. "I wish I could tell you I knew where we are kid, unfortunately I think we're all about as confused as possible at this point. Same question as the lady with the hot accent though, do you have a power?" She asked, lifting her eyebrows a bit as she shifted again so she was sitting cross legged. At that point, she noted the girls shivering, "Uhh you're shaking an awful lot there, are you cold? It is pretty chilly in here." She asked, "you can have my jacket it you want it, I don't get cold easily, fire power and all" She offered, then grinned widely and jerked her thumb in Aiden's direction, "Even if I do, I can steal my buddy Aiden's jacket." she joked.

"Yes, I do," Evelyn answered, turning to see where the woman's voice had come from. "Shadow manipulation, you?" Not in her wildest dreams could Evelyn have imagined this happening to her, or anyone else. The fact was that there were a lot of cages, and in every single one of them was someone like her.
"On another note, does anyone have anything long, sharp and metal?"
She doubted it, whoever did this had been thorough it their research, and she could definitely tell there was no way this lock was getting picked any time soon.

Aidan hit his head on the wall out of frustration. He looked at the other people around them, just now noticing everyone. "Yep, definitely annoyed. Got no idea where I am, and someone is planning to take my precious jacket. Oh and the added bonus, I have nothing but my clothes." He hugged his jacket for a dramatic effect, then smiled at Ashlyn again. "Don't worry, only jokin'. You can have my jacket anytime." He said, looking at the younger girls across from them he noticed how small one of the cage's holes between the bars were. He definitely was curious as to why.

Jackie moved closer to the girl in the cage beside her. She rubbed her own arms, clearly not happy with how cold it was also. "It's alright, none of us really know where we're at." She said, trying to smile reasurring. Jackie wished there was some kind of water nearby, but she had already tried to use her ability, with no luck. "I'm a cat shifter and I have water control. I've tried to find water nearby, but there isn't, well at least no enough to really do damage." She frowned and looked around at the other people within the cages.

Ashlyn listened quietly to all the different voices around her as she shifted her jacket off and quickly shoved it through the bars of her cage and toward the shivering teen. As she did so, she turned her head to face the British sounding woman to answer her question, "I can shift into a golden tiger, and-" she lifted her unoccupied hand and a burst of flame crackled to life in her palm, "can control fire." She finished. She pulled her arm back into her cage as Aiden spoke again, and she shuffled over to lean against the bars of her cage closest to him. As much as she wished he had escaped back in the alleyway, there was a large part of her that was glad she had him here with her. She grinned back at the British woman for a moment, "I would demonstrate the shifting thing, but this cage isn't exactly tiger size. And unfortunately, my pockets are very bare, so I'm assuming they stole all my pointy sharp things before they dumped me in here." She said with a light chuckle.
Her attention was then drawn to a new person, and she turned around to address him after he finished speaking, "Sounds more like a nightmare to me" she offered, still grinning. So far, everyone she had heard speak had been down in cages around her, so when a voice sounded from above her, she flinched a bit and her eyes snapped upward only to see the cold steal of the top of her cage. Her mismatched eyes narrowed as the voice spoke haughtily. "Annndd theres another one, but with attitude issues this time." She muttered to herself before addressing the new voice. "Well then breezy boy," She started, noting the sudden whisk of air, "You have a better plan?" She asked, her fingers glowing red and steaming as she pressed them to the bars of her cage, hoping she might be able to melt the bars if she held onto them long enough. "And so I dont have to come up with nicknames like 'breezy boy' for everyone, how about some introductions?" She suggested, though her focus was intently set on the bar she was trying to melt. "I'll even start us off, I'm Ashlyn Lanis, resident crazed pyromaniac." She said, tacking on the pyromaniac part partially for the sake of sarcasm, and partially because she actually did quite like fire, especially the kind she could create.
