Swiftfoot woke to the sound of Lightningtail's worried voice. He saw her padding over to him and he shook his head when he heard her question. "No," he said quietly. "I haven't seen Grassleap. Sh-should we maybe go look for him? Take your apprentice and go look?" He tried to think of where Grassleap could be. "Maybe we should try the river?" Hopefully he was out fishing. He couldn't bear the thought of the killer having taken another of his clanmates.

Hearing Swiftfoot's own nervous stutter made the molly even more apprehensive about the medicine cat's whereabouts, as she tried to convince herself that nothing was wrong and that he simply forgot to mention where he was going this time, she managed mustered a nod at her Clanmate's suggestion. "I-I think we should, the river sounds like a good place to start." She mewed, voice beginning to waver ever so slightly.

She stepped aside to let Swiftfoot take the lead, not wanting to be the one to see if the killer had taken their medicine cat's life, as selfish as it was. Lightningtail hoped that it would be nothing to worry about this time, but hope was a hard thing to hold onto when every time a Clanmate went missing they were usually found dead. RiverClan just wasn't safe as it used to be anymore, and she was sure it was a thought nearly every Clanmate of hers' had.

Silverpelt woke up, yawning. Shaking her head, she padded out of the den. "He went out late last night," she meowed to Swiftfoot, tail flicking. "He should've been back by now though," she murmured, thinking. "I'll come with you, I want to make sure he's okay," the young she-cat meowed.

Swiftfoot stepped out of his nest and took the lead, tail twitching nervously. He glanced at Lightningtail and saw his worry mirrored in her posture. He turned his head to see Silverpaw and nodded gratefully. "Thanks," he said. She had grown up so much, he thought. She would likely become a full medicine cat soon.

Swiftfoot led the tiny patrol to the river, where they found no trace of Grassleap. However, a rapidly-fading scent trail led them to a clearing where he caught the scent of blood. He gave a surprised yip that sounded very doglike to his ears, and his tail flicked nervously. He stepped forward bravely, determined to see who it was. When he saw the body of Grassleap, Swiftfoot gasped both with surprise and horror. He glanced around with wild eyes. Who could have done this? Who could have deprived the clan of their senior medicine cat and Silverpaw of a mentor? Who could be so cruel?

He padded out of the warrior den. His ears twitched lightly. Was the clan ever going to be peaceful again.

The second kill mentioned that the killer returned to their den. Most of the kills mention eye injuries and Fox has a scar over one which could very well be a nod towards him. He is mentioned as having a mate before they left this could be the motive(?) but thats just personal opinion and probably just me trying to figure out the story.)

Cleaning his fur Fadewisker focused on what he needed to do today. 'I could always check on Silverpaw and Shiverpaw.' He remembered their ceremony and smiled fondly at how excited they were.
