The elder of the Lancaster twins, born in and heir to the Kingdom of Astorus.
As young children, Cain and Abel were almost inseparable; however, once Abel's training to become king began he became distant and withdrawn, focusing wholly on his studies and duties as heir. His father's mantra - "Duty and Honor above all else" - became his way of life, causing an irreparable rift between him and his brother. After their father's death and Abel's ascension to the throne, Cain left for the kingdom of Altar, his jealousy and bitterness only growing as the two spent more time apart.
Once their sickly uncle dies and Cain becomes king of Altar, the centuries-long peace between the two kingdoms is fractured after one of Cain's knights kills one of Abel's knights while trying to extract information about the hidden Lancaster treasure. Abel, desperate to preserve the peace and mend his relationship with Cain, tries and fails to appeal to his brother's sense of honor and duty. Though tensions have not yet escalated to an all out war, the two kingdoms remain bitter rivals. Abel becomes known as 'Abel the White,'
to contrast his brother's title of 'Cain the Black.'
