Their Fear: Although he knows they're quite harmless, Kafkë has a very large and irrational fear of beetles. The way their wings buzz as they struggle to keep their large bodies in the air makes Kafkë rather uncomfortable, and just the thought of a beetle wizzing past his face is enough to make him shutter.
Reason: You'd probably think that something happened to Kafkë as a child to traumatize him of the small creatures - something that happens to cause most phobias - but instead this is a fear he picked up from his beloved mother. The two were very close; she did practically everything with her son, so it was only natural for him to grow into her shoes, picking up on her small pet peeves and habits and making them his own as he got older. Although he won't admit it, he's just like his mom in many ways!

Their Fear: Toast's fear is heavy snowstorms. The snow makes it hard to see, smell, or hear anything and he feels like he could easily get lost or hunted. Toast also dislikes the cold from the storm.
Reason:Toast used to live outside but was saved by Kovi when he was an egg. Kovi had to reheat his egg so he would live, and Toast has never felt the cold again. He never goes outside and Kovi gives him plenty of attention to keep him happy.
