Why does that girl wear so many bandages?
When she was younger - about twelve human years - her mother told her that the whole family all had to wear bandages, because things had begun to fall from the stars. The rest of the four-member family thought that she was telling stories, or had imagined something, or maybe even had seen a branch falling from a tree and believed it came from up above.
Other than the fact that her mother may be going insane, she had to worry about another problem. Food. They were running out of food. The water was going dry from the lake. They needed to find another water source and make their wheat into bread. And churn some butter for her mother, perhaps... it was going to be a busy, yet ordinary, night.
Her father and older sister left the house to gather wheat from the field. They were gone for a while and she thought that they might need help gathering. She followed their tracks into the field. She was alone, it seemed. Perhaps they were in the shed? She looked around and saw no footprints leading to the shed. But she headed that way anyways.
It happened fast. Nothing could stop it. Wham! Something slammed into her head. Her father peeked out of the shed to see what the noise was, assuming it to be a fox or coyote. He went towards the noise, holding a metal stick or small beam of some sort. He walked slowly, listening, into the field, and saw something laying on the ground. He son realized that that 'thing' was his daughter. There was a strange-colored liquid flowing from the wounds to her head, and her body. Her father grabbed her as quick as he could and dropped the stick. He ran her back to the house. She was lain out on a bed. He yelled something unintelligible towards upstairs. Her grandmother walked towards the bed, holding white bandages.
From then on, it was believed that the oddly-colored liquid was part of her soul....
She wears the bandages still because they are what keeps her soul inside. If they are removed, she will perish and her soul will escape. Or so that's what she believes.

I didn't know if I was supposed to name the character or not... that's why there are so many "she"'s. Hehe. If I was supposed to, please just pretend that I did this right. ;D;
It took me waaayy too long to write this, so I hope you see it. xD
