LilacPaw woke up in the middle of the night, having had a bad dream. She was ruffled and a little bewildered by it, but waking up to see that her Clanmates were safe was comforting. Her throat, however, felt parched from the heavy breathing upon waking up in such a panicked state.
She got up and padded out from her den, careful not to rouse anyone. She made her way to the river that ran by in the camp, hoping to get a quick drink and go back to her nest before missing too much sleep. She was pretty sure she had training in the morning.
LilacPaw heard a yawn from behind her, and turned around embarrassedly as another cat padded up to her. "Why're you out here?" The cat asked.
"I just needed a drink. I had a bad dream. Something about badgers."
The cat nodded in understanding. "Look into the river for a moment." LikacPaw complied with a deep breath. The cat spoke again. "No one could hurt you."
"M-me?" She stammered, confused at the cats words.
"You. You're so nice, you know? It's almost infectious."
LilacPaw smiled as she stared at her reflection. The words had meant a lot.
"In fact, if you look really close, you'll see that your eyes have that special twinkle to them."
Curious, LilacPaw leaned in closer and focused on her reflection. "I-I mean, thank you, but I think you're just seeing the reflection of the stars..."
The cat shook their head. "No, closer!" They pushed LilacPaw into the river, holding her down in the water until the bubbles stopped.
The cat looked at their reflection and smiled. "Huh, maybe I was seeing my own sparkle. Too bad."
And with that, they slunk back to bed.

Lichendrop stretched in her nest, flicking her ears as she rose to her paws. Looking around at her sleeping Clanmates,
she let out a strained breath, relieved to see they were safe. Turning back to the opening in the reed-woven den, she slunk out, relishing the warm light of dawn. "Lilacpaw," she called, gaze flickering toward the apprentices' den, "once everyone's awake, I'm going to set up the morning patrols and we'll go train, okay?" The deputy stood there in silence for a moment, waiting for a reply. She must be asleep. I'll wake her up and bring her something to eat, she decided, padding toward the fresh-kill pile and swiping a piece of prey from it. A vole hung from her jaws as she brought it to the smaller den, poking her head inside. "Lilacpaw--" The apprentice wasn't there. Her heart seemed to skip a beat as she stared blankly at the empty nest. Voice filled with worry and a lump in her throat, she prodded the only other cat in the den. "C-Cloverpaw? Do you know where Lilacpaw is?" The warrior tried to calm herself down, breathing heavily and glancing around the den. M-maybe she's just out on a morning walk. Maybe a night hunt? Oh, StarClan... where is she?
