behind brown eyes - personality

Postby Levi » Mon Sep 18, 2017 11:27 am

Dominick is a simple kalon who has a simple life. He's not all too interesting nor is he boring. His outside demeanor often makes him seem quite tough, but this kal is actually a true softie at heart who just loves his farm and his family.

Gruff:"abrupt or taciturn in manner."
Dom simply doesn't speak much, he's a man of few words who believes that actions will always speak louder than anything you can say. Since he's lived alone for most of his life, he never had any real reason to develop his communication skills. Dominick has a hard time putting his thoughts into words and prefers to speak as little as possible.

Alert:"the state of being watchful for possible danger."
Simply put, Dom is almost always on edge. His inability to see makes him very paranoid and he's always listening. Every bump in the night wakes him up and any object out of place will never go unnoticed.

Stubborn:"having or showing dogged determination not to change one's attitude or position on something, especially in spite of good arguments or reasons to do so."
There is no reason to EVER even try to persuade this kalon to do anything but what he wants. He's completely set in his ways and refuses to budge when it comes to most things. He doesn't allow anything to sway what he believes and refuses to listen to even the most logical suggestions if he doesn't agree.

Loyal:"giving or showing firm and constant support or allegiance to a person or institution."
If you're 'lucky' enough to form a relationship with Dominick, whether it be romantic or friendly, he will never give up on you. His family and friends mean the world to him and he believes everyone has the ability to become something great. His support will be relentless, no matter the situation

Cantankerous:"bad-tempered, argumentative, and uncooperative."
Although he will probably never admit it, Dom has always been the cantankerous old man everyone eventually becomes. He always seems to have just a little bit extra to say, which often does get him into trouble. He doesn't mean to start fights, yet he has no filter on what he thinks or says.

Messy:"untidy or dirty."
Nick never can keep track of anything. He loses all sorts of objects and he never bothers to clean up. His fur almost always has dirt caked into it and leaves get tangled up in his curly locks. Dominick often trips over objects he leaves lying around, which irritates him to no end.

a lonely planet - world building

"I never will see a world as beautiful as this one."

In the weathered mind of a hardened kalon, there lays an empty map. The map is stained with salt from the sea and, when touched, dried mud crumbles off the yellow paper. This map is a treasure only held by one, only he can fathom what is takes to reach the destination that is written in the map.

This otherworldly place is ⠑⠜⠹

Soft yet hardy blades of spongy grass cushion his feet as he walks while the turbulent winds whip around his face and leave a delicate kiss of frost upon his cheek. Bleating can be heard from furry creatures as their hooves imprint in the soft terrain; occasionally, course fur can be felt when the animals stray too close. At night, the eerie chirps of bugs playing their mournful song blend together with the melodic ringing of the wind-chimes and become a unique song. His claws dig into the damp soil and he can feel smooth pebbles pressing into his paws.

This place, however, has one fatal flaw. It's shrouded in thick and heavy darkness. He is a prisioner in a dark world, doomed to never see the grass which he walks upon and the snowy mountain peaks that send frost to his home in the valley. He will never see the snow that covers his home in a soft blanket of white. He will never see this place he calls home. No matter how far he walks and no matter where he hides, the darkness follows like an everlasting shadow.

One may think he hates his home because of this, but it is quite the opposite. He has never known a home other than this and,
because of this, doesn't long to see a world where he can see everything he experiences.

a lonely planet - world building (2)

"Yes... Yes that's corr- No- wait you spelled it wrong." The voice of an extremely annoyed and slightly irritated kalon can be detected from one end of the communicator. "It's Dominick. D - O - M - I - N - I - C - K." Another paused can be heard as the other end of the conversation speaks. "Yes, Dominick Alan Klein. Klein... K - L - E - I - N." As the conversation goes on, Dominick seemingly becomes more and more exasperated. There was another long pause before he spoke again. "Correct, New Zealand is a country on Earth. Okay... Yes thank you..." /click/ The communicator gave one last beep before shutting down.

Dominick groaned and leaned back in his chair. "Spec!" He shouted, gently brushing his paw over the side table in order to locate his cane, but gave up after a moment of feeling around. Heavy footsteps could be heard descending the stairs. Nick slowly swung his legs off the footrest and stood up, looking in the direction of where the stairs could be found. When the thudding became louder and louder then finally stopped, he crossed his arms across his chest. "I guess it's pretty funny to give them all the wrong information huh?" He said gruffly. Although he couldn't see Spectrum's face, he knew a smile was there due to the muffled snorts of laughter. "Yeah, yeah. Pick on the blind guy. Real funny." Dominick teased, resting his paw on the edge of the chair as he stood up. "I did put in the order for the hay, since someone hadn't." A sheepish laugh came from Spectrum's direction. "Yeah,
I kinda forgot."
Spectrum mumbled. Dominick just shook his head and started towards the door, letting his paw trail along the wall in order to keep his bearings. "I'm going out to tend to the beasts." He stated before promptly pushing open the creaky old door and making his way along the pathway.

Nick had walked this path so many times, he could see in his mind exactly where he was. "One step, two steps..." He quietly counted each step then abruptly stopped at 27. His hand automatically reached out in front of him then came into contact with the rough surface of a splintering old barn. The older kalon hummed quietly to himself as he walked inside of the barn; his thoughts were quickly engulfed by the loud bleeting of sheep. First off, he dragged his paws across the right wall until he felt the cool metal knob that was the faucet to fill the troughs with water. The splashing of the water slowly grew quiet until all he could hear was the water lapping at the edges of the trough. At this point, he cranked the knob back to the right to shut off the water. There was a few more drops then the sheep were once again the only thing that could be heard. He then placed his paws on the metal fence that held the sheep in their indoor enclosure, it led him to a rusted metal latch. It creaked loudly as he flipped it back and pushed open the gates so the sheep could go out into the fields.

With a satisfied smile, he leaned back and closed his eyes. The sounds of bleeting faded with the stampede of sheep and soon he was left alone once again. But being alone doesn't mean he's lonely. This is his world, his home, and his life.
