Holy crap you actually managed to nail something everyone has been ignoring about one of the hints. That doesn't necessarily mean that pup is mine, but you're the first person to use that hint right. If you elaborate it a little more you might figure everything out.

I looked at some of the previous posts, and I've changed my mind now- Lillian's is most likely the tired pup with the friend on it instead of the tired mohawk puppy. (That means we have to figure out who did the Lillian-esque pup next!)

This guy was mentioned before multiple times but I think we've got the reasoning correct now.

For the first hint, the dog is obviously very un-Lillian-like, especially compared to the tired mohawk pup (which mimics the style perfectly). This one has little bright colors or special textures/shading.
For the second hint, the friend is going grow up, similar to how Chubbs did in 2014. The puppy will stay the same for the most part, like how Chubbs' mom did.
This dog has really natural-looking markings, unlike the tired mohawk dog. In fact, it's basically a black bernese mountain dog, so to boot it's a naturally occurring dog breed.
For the facade hint, this guy is clearly tired, and the tear-esque marking someone mentioned a little while back would make sense with that.
Fifthly, the dog is tired. That didn't change much from the last theory, but this one's eyes are closed instead of half-closed like the tired mohawk.
For the curly tail part, this dog has a bobtail, and not a curly one. Pretty self-explanatory.
For the seventh hint, there are no wings visible now, but if what dave. said is true the pup's friend is going to gain wings and protect the pup (and hopefully cheer them up).
As for the eighth hint (the longer quote), most of the above stuff applies- the pup's eyes are closed, so they might be dry/dull from crying in grief or from shock, and the friend protecting the pup from the cruel world would make a lot of sense.
Lastly, the dog doesn't grow up- but his friend does.

I think that's about it. The only other dog with a friend is the egg one, and he doesn't fit most of the hints. I don't have any cool theories for this one, but is this your pup, Lillian?

this could potentially, maybe be Lilian's? while the one curled pup's shading had me convinced, esp because it seems to have their trademark shading. they've mentioned theirs doesn't have a curled tail, so it marks that one out. and if we take into consideration like, the hints of 'tired', the natural markings, and the wing thing, i'm probably reaching but the little thing on the back looked like possibly a duckling to me at first? just with it's head down,
so it maybe could be a chick or avian of some sorts that might grow to be protecting the dog in the adult stage or something else

idk though sjdkj i usually don't try and guess what pup belongs to what artist :')

thats totally what i was thinking here! <3 much agree, also tired could be annoyed aswell rather thean looking typically tired, this pup looks almost depressed to me, fed up with the world and everything that had happened to it which is how i typically get when im feeling depressed.

this pup, instead of it being annoyed maybe thats a sorta tear coming out of its eye? natural markings also and not a curled tail

Maybe still a reference to tears? and maybe the one speaking in the backstory is the thing on its back which will grow into something with wings??

i also feel this pup shares the soft markings of your style, but is still only subtly your style

Here are my reasons:
- This pup has edited ears
- A heart rat is mentioned in your hints, and this pup has hearts on it
- Honestly, this pup looks like it's in need of some love (in the form of a hug)

Well... I do like hearts .. And i did use one on my tiger last year...
Plus ear edits are one of my favorite types to do.... And those ones are super precious... But what about the unedited tail? Not saying this isn't mine, but not all of my actual hints are fitting here just yet...

Gonna quickly throw my 2cents in here;

Thw wording, "my child" used by Lillian directly represents the little munchkin looking dog. To me, becase it has such shor legs it looks more childlike compared to every other pup.

I may be reading into design and wording too much here... Just a thought though.

adding onto this super quickly again, even if their eyes/expression doesnt say 'tired', the design does. its soft and almost 'dull' on the eyes. soft, rounded edges and all of the like; you could definitely get some tired vibes from the design alone, if not the expression. regardless, bravo kirby for getting a better lead on which pupper could be lilians.

Your heart pet is the one that is very special to you for some reason. I have two dogs. My silly, scared, funny rescue lurcher is my baby girl and I adore her. But my retriever does service work for me and literally keeps me sane and gets me through awful pain etc - because of this and because of our very close bond through working together like this, I refer to her as my soulmate.

Another word for that would be that she is my heart dog.

So Metallic Dragon's heart rat was their soulmate rat.

It's a very widely used phrase within pet ownership circles.

I just wanted to make that point because you via are all assuming it means it will have hearts on it but that isn't what that phrase means. The pet may or may not have hearts still.

Alas, where are my hints, though?!

Here, there, or everywhere? idk, man, I was sort of hoping things would get clearer once [almost] everything was together, and/or that another user would pick up on something I missed. We'll see if I manage to find them but I wouldn't hope for too much if I was you. I'll likely end up starting from a grown pet and working backwards to see if I can find a supporting hint, since that's my usual MO when I'm at a loss; start with a potential solution and go back from there to see if it's workable.

id be tempted to think tha rats name was Conan but its not exactly the right color, but i cant find any other pet rat names?

though on the name conan it can mean elevated so mabe the elevated pup that floats? long stretch
