I consider nothing - I literally scribble over the lines in the various colours and in different brushes until some pattern, shape or colour combo catches my interest. :B I'll check to see if any of the other staffers has already done the same thing as me design-wise or edit-wise, but beyond that I just make the pet I want to make.

Editing-wise, for me the pups are easier due to being directly side on, but the adults are often more interesting to work on. For massive editing though, sometimes the adult just doesn't work at all due to its pose - for example, the only way an adult edit would have worked on Reynir would have been having his wings out and up with his tail dragging on the ground, which I felt didn't look very appealing in the mockups and was probably beyond my ability to pull off satisfactorily anyway, which is why he ended up PPS.

You ask me to choose among my children? 8C It would probably be between Reynir or Keli - Reynir is my favourite design I've ever made, while Keli is the one who most perfectly fulfilled my vision of what she should be. Speaking of how I get my ideas from scribbling, Keli's entire design and colour scheme came about due to her little squiggly offset blaze.

As for my favourite staff pets from others, there are so many that I love! I would say my most favourite (at this particular moment, at least) would be Sketchi's 2014, Metallic Dragon's 2015 and Berkshire's 2015:

Well I personally hate the dog lineart. Not because it's a bad lineart, of course, but I just can't find a way to make designs in it due to the sitting pose. It's a very frustrating experience and that's why I like to make crazy edits for my staff dog, it's a way to make the lineart more comfortable to color in. For these edits I like to find ways to make the pet more creative and unique among other pets I've released, basically I make it my objective to make it recognizable as a staff dog at first sight instead of an event pet or even a very edited regular pet. I also like to incorporate traits from mythological creatures given I'm such a hardcore mythology nerd.

I take staff pets as very personal pets as well, I see them as an opportunity to make a pet to express myself instead of just pleasing the userbase. Consequently I like to put some sort of meaning to their designs, which heavily depends on my emotional state at the time. For example, I can easily say that Selkine is my favorite staff dog because she represents my dream of having children one day, which is a really happy thought:

Another great example would be this year's staff dog... you see, this year has been absolutely nightmarish to my family and I. All kinds of crap happened, such as(but not limited to) my cat having another kidney failure and this time with his kidneys becoming too damaged for recovery, my aunt being terribly ill during the past few months to the point of slipping into a coma very recently, my family fighting constantly due to the stress from my aunt's situation, my artblock preventing me from being productive or even relieve stress through vent art, my graduation thesis having failed miserably, my depression skyrocketing and requiring more meds, and the list goes on and oooooon... to say my emotional state right now isn't alright is quite the understatement. With this, I couldn't help but express some of that in my staff dog this year as a way to vent some of this stress off. She has a really strong meaning to me even though she may have a more depressing background in comparison to my other pets, and I tried to come up with a design that could be a sign of hope for better days to come. Sometimes it's really hard to translate my emotional state into a pet design and I may unhappily stick to something more practical and meaningless, like my 2015 staff dog, but when it does work the result is very satisfying and allows me to relax.

As for favorite staff dogs, it's hard to pick one. It's definitely one of these:

Lucifer, GoT, CSI (but only the original series)...uh....i swear there are more. I used to love Doctor Who, but I wasn't a fan of Matt Smith so I kind of stopped watching. Same with NCIS - until Tony left (i mean it was never the same after Ziva :c)

So I'm assuming that most of the staff have built strong relationships with each other online, I'm just wondering if you have ever met another staff member or one of your friends here in real life?
And sorry one more question: has anyone (who wouldn't know your involvement on the site) tried to recommend Chicken Smoothie to you?

I jest. I love them all. When I was living in Hong Kong I met up with sketchi. She's a total blast and the biggest cutie patootie to patoot ever. DoctorDraca, Raey and Verdana are undoubtedly my closest friends. Drac and I have been on a couple of adventures in London and Belgium together, and we're planning on kidnapping Raey this Christmas too. Watch out CS. Chaos is coming.

a) Things I love

b) :'D fun? Definitely the middle stage, because that is the one you'll all see without knowing it is mine, hahaha. But it is not as important as the final stage, be it PPS or grown adult.

c) I've only made this one, so this is my favourite. *lol*

d) Probably Moonflights, though I have favourites every year and I can't decide on an overall fav. I guess Moonflights just holds a special place in my heart, because it was the first staff litter. ^^

I guess I can answer since I was in the first GH litter too! ^^

For me, I consider practicality first. I'm legally blind and have the artistic ability of a walnut, so while there are so many beautiful designs that I would love to execute, I have to humble myself and accept that I just can't do that right now. Maybe someday I will become better at art, but for now I cannot say that.

After that, I decided on which lineart to use. It wasn't hard for me because I just picked my favorite! ^_^ I kinda just tried a few things until I found a design that I liked. Lots of trial and error. Lastly, I pick a name for my design.

I usually start with a small idea when it comes to my staff pets, it tends to go through a couple of phases before I'm happy with something in the end. The adult is probably the most fun to edit but the puppy stage can be fun too since you could easily throw people off on that! I really like my staff pet this year... maybe even more so than last year. c':
