Originating from secluded forest areas, pruvians are a recently discovered, magic-based species. They are lean, athletic creatures that resemble felines, but have large ears used for communication and keeping in tune with the energies of the world. They’re an average of three feet tall at the shoulders and they possess near-human intelligence, though some say they may be equal to or smarter than humans because of the extra insight their magic gives them. All pruvians have black tongues, and there have been no exceptions to this trait thus far. They are also omnivores, meaning they eat both plants and meat. Many human delicacies have become their favorites, though they shouldn’t eat too much sugar because of how high their energy levels already are.
Pruvians are docile and don’t mind forming friendships with species outside of their own. Some have been found living with humans alongside other species, and for the most part make great companions. When speaking to one another, they tend to communicate through wavelengths of magic that are only detectable by their own ears. However, they have no trouble mimicking the languages of other species, though something as complex as human speech is a bit difficult for some to learn. All pruvians are biologically male or female, but because of their intelligence and complex emotions, they are able to express different sexualities and identify as different genders.
Jewelry is almost always found on a pruvian’s tail, which is a significant part of their culture. It’s difficult to say what sort of material the jewels are made out of, since they are pruvian-made and they refuse to give out that secret, but the bands are always a type of metal. Iron, steel, silver, copper, and gold are the only variations found for pruvian jewelry so far. The jewels themselves are quite special. They are originally a grey color, and are given to young pruvians as an initiation into adulthood. Once placed on the pruvian’s tail, the gems automatically detect the pruvian’s magic and sync with it, turning into whatever color of magic the pruvian possesses. They are usually all one color unless the pruvian has the rare, bi-colored magic trait. If a pruvian doesn’t have magical abilities, which is a rare occurrence, the gems remain grey.
Pruvians without any jewelry are always associated with dark magic. They cannot wear any jewelry, for the jewels shatter and disintegrate when they try to sync. Most of the ones that have dark magic go into hiding if they can escape the other members of its species. Pruvian magic is supposed to be beneficial to their surroundings, but all dark magic does is destroy. However, dark magic does not determine a pruvian’s personality, only their capability to do harmful things. Dark magic is typically black with a white outline that distorts the appearance of things behind it, but there may be hints of color.
The tail jewelry is traditional and there are almost no exceptions to it except for those with enhanced abilities. These pruvians are so rare that they’re practically impossible to find, and their magic is so potent that they must wear additional jewelry in order to keep it under control. There is no such thing as a legendary pruvian with dark magic, for the jewels will keep breaking and eventually the sheer power of the dark magic will consume the pruvian.
