the night before
xxx foot steps echoed down the stretch of alley way in which feodor strode, footing firm and well-placed against the old cobblestone that was now beginning to dislodge itself. his dark gaze tended to have quite the omniscient feel to it, making most anyone feel as though they were being analyzed and critiqued under his watchful eye. most only looked at him for but a moment before they quickly decided to head else where. he had a reputation, and not the best one at that. now-a-days, no one seemed to have any recollection of what the world once stood for. everyone lost everything, if not they came close. feodor was the one in which people incapable of acting through vengeance and anger, could rather pay him a hefty sum, and watch and wait as it is taken care of for them, no blood on their hands. just a sense of temporary relief, and then remorse for the fact that yet another life had been removed from this world. feodor had no such remorse. it was the way of the world. he was well aware that some day in the future, it would be his turn to meet the end, but until that day, he makes for damn sure that no one is trying to take that from him. it isn't that he is over joyed with his life, in fact, quite the opposite. rather he has a few too many people in which he isn't done caring for, and alas, his faithful companion edgar trotting alongside him as we speak. these are sad times for such a promising young man, whom unfortunately has fallen into a dark void in which he solely is unable to escape.
xxxhumming under his breath, he looked down towards the brute at his heel, a small glimmer of amusement in his eyes at the sight of the shar-pei. feodor shook his head with a soft chuckle as he stopped, crouching down to caress the canine's soft face in his large, rough hands. "you are the reason I have to do all of this you know, all you ever seem to do is eat my friend," he mused with a soft smirk, giving the dog one last ear rub before he stood back to his full height. feodor never wanted much, nor asked for much either. at the time he got himself through every day by seeing his purpose as being there in order to help keep society clean from scum such as himself, and to protect his loved ones. well, what remains. clicking his tongue, edgar followed once more and the two were within steps of their final task for the day. pointing two fingers in a commanding gesture towards the ground, edgar obeyed, sitting and watching as his owner slipped inside the back entrance of a building that most certainly should be condemned. the dog was a faithful friend, and whenever feodor would return, he would be seated in the same spot, excited as ever to see his companion return. after a few moments, loud clanging sounded from inside, soon after the sound of a struggle, a loud crash and then silence. feo soon slipped back out of the building, winking down towards edgar and giving the click to follow yet again. "time to head home," he spoke simply, and the two made their trek back home to get some much needed rest.
xxxthe night was restless as usual for feodor, fidgeting in his sleep at times as his various night-terrors set strike against him in his slumber. on various occasions he would awaken abruptly, sitting up in bed and reaching a tired hand to his weary face, wiping sweat off of his brow. zephryne was downstairs, though knowing her non-existent sleep schedule, he didn't have the nerve to wander downstairs and risk her seeing him in the condition he was in. instead he patted the forever empty space beside him, and edgar obliged, climbing into bed and settling down beside his lonely human. feodor soothed himself back to sleep with an arm placed protectively over the brute, almost as though he would be protecting him from the nightmares as well.
good morning
xxxfeodor lay in a deep slumber, large frame taking up most all room on his bed aside from the space in which edgar faithfully remained through the rest of the night. a soft snore could be heard faintly, his typically well combed hair in a mess after all of the movement of trying to find comfort during the night. his body flinched ever so softly as a mist of cool water fell onto his bare chest, causing for his well-defined muscles to tense. he began to come out of a for once pleasant dream, fond thoughts of the bernard's daughter had a way of creeping into his mind from time to time, more often than he would be willing to admit. a half smirk on his face, it quickly changed as he heard the sharp voice of zeph, which quickly faded into her standard soft-spoken tone. feo sat up slightly, holding himself up on his left arm as he leaned over towards his puff, groaning as he grabbed hold of her by his right arm and pulled her in for a much needed hug. "well, this isn't like you, and why is my chest wet?" he added in confusion, looking down at himself before looking back to her and letting go of her petite frame. "but really, usually you at least attempt to act like you're in a good mood if you take the risk of waking me up from a half-decent dream," he muttered, raising a brow to her. he never aimed to pressure her into telling him things she didn't wish to, but at the same time, he always tried to open at least a crack of a door so that if she felt the need, she could speak to him about whatever might be bothering her. "so long as it isn't bats," feo added under his breath, "he isn't worth the trouble he gives you," he spoke with a frown, scanning his gaze over hers in a semi-critical way being as he knew all to well the troubled relationship the two had held, and that she was far from over it. unfortunately, he was good friends with bats, which made the whole thing that much more uncomfortable for him. he wanted to see them find happiness, but it just didn't seem as though they were in the right state of mind to try and hold a stable relationship any time soon. granted he wasn't either. edgar of course was trying to nose his way up to zeph so that he could place a few quick licks on her collarbone, shortly after snorting and giving a quick sneeze into the pillow as he wiggled back out and hopped down to the floor, waiting anxiously to head outside and move.

━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━ ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━
Bats McAvoy took to the run-down streets of Cedarsmoke early that morning with a purpose. Something big was happening, the second biggest thing that this dump of a place called Chicago would witness next to The Click. Not everyone would realize why it was such a big deal of course, most of them were too stupid to understand much of anything. Bats, however, was not stupid, so it was no surprise that he had already dissected the situation inside and out to evaluate all the pros and cons in relation to himself. He was selfish like that, always making sure that he was taken care of before worrying about others. In the world they lived in now one couldn't afford to worry about anyone else because that's the kind of stuff that got you killed. If a person couldn't benefit you in one way or another then they weren't worth keeping around. That kind of mentality meant that Bats wasn't the most well-liked person in the kingdom (he wouldn't be surprised if he was the most hated), but it was the kind of mentality that kept him not just alive, but almost thriving in a way. Rather than sit on his butt and twiddle his thumbs after The Click, he took initiative to learn the skills that would allow him to properly take care of himself in the future. Now here he was 12 years later with the ability to provide for himself and get anything he wanted, even if it was illegally. Most of the people in the kingdom didn't even have a clue of what the real world was like. They were sheltered.
The sun was just barely peaking over the horizon as Bats strolled rather quickly through the area formerly known as the West Loop. It was the most crime-ridden area in all of the kingdom, not surprising when one remembers that it is the home of the Cedarsmoke clan. Most of the residents were homeless and likely all of them criminals, and even a trip up the block was dangerous enough to deter most people from walking anywhere alone. Bats didn't care and as long as you were strong enough to fight back or quick enough to slip away, then you could survive on your own. He was dressed so not to draw attention to himself, a pair of dark blue jeans, a jacket with the hood pulled over his head, and some casual sneakers. And where was he going so early in the morning in such a rush? To fellow Cedarsmoke resident Feodor Lucian's home. One could call the two friends, but today Bats was paying him a visit for business and not pleasure. He assumed that Feo wasn't aware of the news yet as the guy mainly kept to himself so he wasn't sure who he possibly could've heard it from. Bats walked for a few more minutes before he recognized his house at the end of the block, his pace quickening just a little more from his already fast stride. Soon enough he was approaching the front door and placing his hand on the doorknob.
Bats didn't bother knocking and let himself in, which was normal for him. On a usual day he didn't have the patience to knock and wait for an invitation inside, but on a day where he had some especially pressing news he was even less patient. He immediately noticed the collection of blankets strewn across the couch in his living area, suggesting that someone had slept there recently. Bats thought that was odd as Feo rarely sought the company of others. Maybe it was a hook-up, but even then he couldn't understand why they would sleep there instead of with him in the bed. No matter, what he did on his own time was his business. He didn't see any sign of Feo on the main floor and assumed that he was most likely still asleep given the time of day. Bats was familiar with the house so he made his way up the stairs and began heading down the hall, clearing his throat as he approached the doorway before he attempted to wake him up. Upon entering the room he froze almost instantaneously at what appeared to be the sight of Feo shirtless in his bed with none other than Bats' ex-girlfriend Zephryne Alaska Lawson standing to the side. In a moment of speechlessness he snapped his gaze back and forth between the two of them, a look of obvious confusion on his face. "What the hell are you doing here?" He asked her first, then turned to Feo. "What the hell is she doing here?" He shook his head in disbelief. Bats had never recalled the two of them ever even knowing each other so the fact that she was in his house just baffled him entirely.
Bats removed the hood from over his head and rubbed his eyes slightly. It had been a pretty lengthy period of time since he last saw Zeph, but he remembered the constant bickering that ensued anytime they got near each other after the break-up. He didn't imagine that he would have to be near her anytime soon, let alone find her alone in the house of his somewhat good friend Feo. Bats remembered their break-up quite well, how could he forget when it was his fault? For the majority of their relationship the two of them were very happy and quite possibly in love with each other. Bats however was convicted of several thefts that he kept secret from Zeph, that combined with her aspiration of being a cop eventually led to her breaking it off as he was sent off to Cedarsmoke. Years later the two of them can hardly stand being in the same room with one another. "Wait a minute, are you two.." he paused, gesturing between the both of them. "Are you two involved?" Soon after asking Bats had to shake his head and redirect his mind back to what he came there for. No matter how he felt over the possibility of a friend dating his ex, he had to focus on what was important. "You know what never mind, I've got more important things to worry about and so do you Feo. The old man is sick as hell and he'll be dead before the week is over." Bats was of course referring to the King, Joseph Bernard, who had looked over the clans since some time after The Click. "That means his idiot son will be taking the throne and something tells me not a lot of people are very happy about that. From what I hear, there's quite a bit of people advocating for Victoria. And a little birdy told me that the two Bernard kids are planning on taking some people from each clan on a little trip out of the kingdom for a little bit."

[ TAGGED ] FEODOR [ MENTIONS ] BATS & FEODOR
seeing feodor flinch as the mist of water fell onto his bare torso, and she smiled a little at his reaction. she saw his half smirk on his face at her words. Shen jushoped he didn't hear the tone in her voice, she didn't need him to worry about her or anything. she is more then capable to deal with it herself, so rather then burdening him with her problems she will bottle them up. this could be good or bad, but mostly bad. she knew that, but still, would rather bottle it up and leave her troubles thoughts unsaid. Despite her being known to speak the most blunt and honest of truths as though she had no filter to stop her.
however, despite her efforts of concealing it, feodor had noticed. his playful smirk had vanished as he sat up slightly, to look at her more carefully. zeph looked down at her hands, fiddling with them like a child. she felt almost uncomfortable as she bit her lip subtly. she felt him lean over to her and grab a hold of her and pulling her towards him into a hug. zephryne leaned slightly over to him, enjoying the comfortable of him being there. she couldn't help but smile the slightest. she knew feodor would always be there for her, no matter what. even the simplest of gestures from him, made her seem that much more happy and content then what she would be on her own. yes, they had their moments of bicker and arguments, that seemed like that hated each other. but, zephryne knew one thing, feodor is like the brother she never got to have.
picking up on his words, she chuckled a little, "no reason." she shrugged her shoulders in her own act of confusion. she heard his words and her smile faded a little, and she sighed softly, as looked away from his gaze for a moment. zephryne knew he is right, he generally is at times, when she wasn't that is. finally after a moment, she glanced back at feo. her amber gaze almost dull and drained to what they usually are, "well, I guess I'm not up for the whole let's live life like nothing is wrong motto." she spat a little irritated. this whole not sleeping is really taking its toll on her state of mind. she wasn't one to deal with people normally, but feodor had simply stated soemthing and she had taken his head off. zephryne groaned a little as she knew she is in the wrong and shook her head.
when feodor spoke of bats, she stiffened and her gaze instantly turned away. she felt her hands ball up into small fists that turned white. "don't start on me about 'that'. when you cant even talk about your insterest in that prima donna." she spoke defensively and looked back at him deadly serious, her normally bright gaze, clouded with annoyance and defence. why was she so defensive over anything about bats? she knew deep down she still liked him but always denied its existence entirely. or her defensiveness could be she doesn't want to talk about it? or it's a touché topic, which it is. however, she didn't think she wouldn't get defensive of just because she didn't want to talk about it, it had to be more than that.
Spotting edgar, zeph seemed to almost relax instantly and smiled at him. she stroked his fur and he licked her collarbone and she chuckled a little, before he went to the floor. zephryne in the end is relieved edgar had appeared then, she could feel the tension from earlier faded ever so slightly and slowly. she sighed as she looked at edgar, before looking at feodor, her gaze softer, "sorry...feo." she spoke ever so softly, as she rubbed the back of her neck. she normally did this out of embarrassed and right now she was. she hated it when she took it out on feodor, and even worse she was in the wrong to. zephryne gave a half sheepish smile, as though in apology for what had happened earlier. in truth she is sorry especially since she didn't know where it had came from. It wasn't entirely like her.
suddenly, hearing someone walk into feodors room, she quickly looked at the door and saw none other then the devil himself. speak of the devil and he say appear, she though with a sigh. she really didn't need him now or ever, although her heart spoke otherwise. she saw all that she had ever loved about him, but yet felt almost repulsed. she raised an eyebrow at him as she looked at them both with confusion. Hearing him finally speak after a moment, she shook her head, "what do I have to ask your permission about who I see now?" she rolled her eyes at him. zephryne watched as bats removed his hoodie, she hadn't seen him in a long time and it almost felt lonely without him, but yet she wished she hadn't seen him. it stirred up unwanted feelings and memories that had shared. she felt her throat become thick and she felt her eyes burn, but why? she mentally scolded herself and folded her arms across her chest as she sat beside feodor. she needed to reminded herself why she had broken up with him in the first place, but yet she alway said struggled to keep reminding herself. thinking maybe he had changed? but yet she always felt as though he didn't care anyways, he seemed fine with the break up while she was the one completely distort for some time. maybe he never did love her from the start. that stung. it made her even more determined to never remind herself of there past, it made her second guess. but being one of the most determined people around she knew she would try her hardest to keep pushing him away by arguing. it in a way is her defense mechanism. it helped her keep herself from being hurt, like she was by bats. either way he didn't seem to care, he never attempted to care, so why should she?
hearing bats asked if feodor and her we're involved, she lost it. she burst into a fire of giggles and laughs. tears fell down her face in laughter, "seriously, can you believe he said that?" she laughed with tears continuing to spill. After a moment, she calmed down and wiped the tears from her face, "wouldn't you like to know, hey?" she smirked and wrapped an arm around feodor before playfully kissing him on the cheek. "we are so involved!" she smirked and winked at bats before shaking her head. "you must have no brain to think I would date your best friend.". zephryne heard bats and shook her head beforehand listening to what he had to say anyways, she for once was speechless. she didn't know what or how to respond. she had known the kings son and thought they got on a bit, but even she knew he wasn't king material. his step sister she had no idea how to feel about her. in ways she didn't like her, but yet admired her. very conflicted about her. she thought about how they would be coming to each clan in the kingdom. she rolled her eyes, they would only be doing so to suck up to the clans members and get them on there side. zephryne wanted nothing to do with politics. It was her forte and she had no interest in it. nothing but a bore over higher powers fighting for more power. selfish in her eyes.

xxxxxxF E O D O R ; ;
▬▬▬ ● ♚♛ ● ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
[age ➵ twenty-five] [clan ➵ cedarsmoke] [tags ➵ zeph & bats]
tense times
xxx it was so early for him to be awake and functioning, he could manage yes, it just made him feel that degree more off than he already tends to. feodor was the night type, typically thriving in the late hours in which most did not wish to take part in, and sleeping as the sun would arise. his schedule was quite unlike most others, but alas, with his line of work, it tends to take some of the pains of waiting and watching, all of that time, out of it. so when zephryne spat a response back towards him with an irritable expression well displayed on her face, he frowned in obvious dislike, brow furrowing. he shook his head, knowing it was better for the both of them if he just didn't respond to that. they didn't need an argument already, it would just cause for him to be that more bitter through the day. feo knew all to well that she held within her petite self far more than she ever should, but how he saw it, that was hers to share whenever she came around to it. in all fairness, he had plenty things in which he kept from her. though typically not for the fact it is anything near or dear, more so that it would probably terrify her to know what a typical day holds for him. he was thankful that her life wasn't entirely sheltered of course, because though hardships aren't something that anyone wants to come by, they are the moments in which shape you the most of all. he nearly rolled his eyes to himself, knowing it was no use to think these things to himself, especially if he had no inclination to start on such a topic with her after her obvious displeasure in the fact he had noted her unpleasant state of mind. so be it, perhaps another day she would be better suited for a lecture.
xxx alas, after having mentioned bats to the young lady, feodor was readily expecting some form of backlash out of zeph. he winced every so slightly, breathing inwardly as he saw her body tense, running a hand through his hair as he thought of what a mess it must be. not that there was anyone around he was trying to impress, more so because he had quite a strict way of holding himself in appearance as well as behaviorally. then the words began to hit, and the way she finished baffled him ever so slightly, the shock showed momentarily in his gaze. well, someone definitely didn't get enough, if any sleep that night. she never mentioned anything to do with the woman in which he practically dreams of, especially being as he tried to avoid all topics to do with women when it came to being around her. sometimes it helps after a long day to unwind and let yourself get lost in things that might never be. "oh, ok zeph. not sure what you are trying to get at there but hey, that's you. I can't change the fact he isn't what you want. apparently a bit of crime is too much for you to handle," he rambled off back in defense, though quickly regretted it. that was a bit much, but what had been said was already said and done, feo just hoped to himself that perhaps she was too engulfed in her own thoughts at the moment to completely catch what he had said. or that frankly, she realized he was just another criminal that frankly found it disheartening that no one was ever willing to give his kind a chance. they didn't mind playing around for some time no, but whenever it came down to something serious, it was quick to come to an end. even if crime wasn't per-say the reason, it was often the excuse, their quick get-away. of course, the same could not be said about vivian. she was too kind hearted of a girl to admit to any of his major downfalls openly to him; and perhaps that's what drove them apart, he felt too accepted. feodor hardly noticed her apology upon losing his train of thought, simply dipping his shin ever so slightly and giving a weary half-smile of his own apology.
xxx then the unexpected occurred, and within a moment's notice, bats was walking through the door way of his room, and came a stop with a confused and rather disturbed look on his face. feodor sighed, knowing this was a downhill start to this encounter and he practically waited for the bickering to commence. alas, he couldn't resist a small smirk followed by a soft chuckle with the way that bats' mind got carried away by the sight, shaking his head in response to what he first said as though trying to signal for him not to start. but unfortunately, the young man was long gone on the road of jealousy; for a short span of time it appeared soon after. "i don't think so bats," he stated simply in reassurance after zeph tried to trigger her ex that much more and plant a kiss on his cheek, stating that they were involved. "i find prima donnas more my type," he muttered as an added statement of annoyance, before moving to the edge of his bed and standing up to his full height, wincing as various areas of his body rotated, popping and cracking quite noticeably. he wasn't as young as he once was, and unfortunately, the wear and tear that his body endures during his training, work outs, and various tasks has begun to take it's toll. of course, the change in topic very quickly caught feodor's interest, anything involving the royal family tended to at that. "oh," he spoke under his breath as he began getting together something to wear for the day, settling on a pair of torn jeans and simple grey, semi-form fitting tee. he grabbed one of his preferred pairs of shoes and slipped them on as he stood after having put on the shirt and jeans. "that's a bit odd, is it not. surely it won't involve any of our kind I'm certain," feodor remarked back in slight disbelief to what bats had said, almost thinking he had misheard the news. he couldn't imagine anyone placing the royals purposefully alongside any number of criminals.
the bean
xxxfeodor walked towards the entrance to his bed room, looking back towards zeph and bats, motioning towards the door for them to follow. edgar was the only one that quickly obliged. "I say, it's time to head out and find out what's going on in this mess of a world," he spoke, and without truly paying attention to if either of them were following him or not, he made his way to the living area, and to the front door, holding it open for a moment so that edgar could get outside before following after his brute. they knew where the bean was, they didn't need his guidance. his mind was focused on one thing, and that was who would be going, and who that meant the royal's daughter would be around. feodor didn't quite like the thought of there being people like himself around her, though he knew quite well he was dangerous in a different light, everyone had something that made them tick. he just hoped that those in charge of this plan would do their research on those in which they are sending. he was certain they would, they had to, or that was just reckless to be risking the only two offspring of a dying king. feodor's mind was long gone in a endless train of thought as he went through various back alley ways in which he knew like the back of his hand. he practically ran this place, it was little to no concern to him whom of what he may encounter. the people that may not know him tended to know of him. it was dangerous to live in a time like this and not know your threats. it didn't take long for he and edgar to reach the central bean, figuring that he would have a reasonable chance of hearing more news about the events among the rambling mouths of the citizens collected in this area. casting his dark gaze around the area, he quickly caught sight of vivian, growing ever so slightly uncomfortable as his eyes quickly moved away, breathing a sigh out from under his breath in hopes that she hadn't seen him. yet the chances were unlikely when you're as noticeable as himself. then he caught sight of a familiar face, well, truly for him he tended to identify the figure of someone much quicker than their actual facial features. frankie was crouched down next to some various items in which she had dropped, causing for a small smirk to creep onto his facial features at the amusing sight. he was tempted to assist her, though decided against it as he heard her call for maia, deciding he had enough interactions for the morning with the way that bats and zeph had greeted him. perhaps the two would find him once more, or one, depending if they couldn't take the sight of one another.

( ✿ MAIA xBLACKWELL!
────────────────────────
[ rank. sweetwater caregiver ] [ locoation. the bean ] [ tagged. francesca ]
xxxxxthe mornings at the bean were maia's favorite.
they were the nights she was allowed to leave the apartment and help out civilian with all sorts of things. she'd been coming to the bean since she was seven years old - back in 2018 'the bean' was called chicago, illinois. maia used to live up in a flat adorned with abode bricks and royal blue singles; but now? that was long gone after a couple of raids. it was too dangerous for the caregiver to go back and visit, she daydreamed of someday her parents magically being resurrected, her pets cry's beckoning her to come back. As soon as Maia crossed the esplanade, she stepped into a dangerous world of light and color. people of all backgrounds coming together as one, children, teenagers, seniors even scoured the center of the kingdom.
xxxxxquite frankly, maia found it concerning when the king first fell ill, merely everybody thought that the daughter, victoria bernard would be taking over. but of course, by tradition, her brother soon would be taking over. panic erupted in the kingdom, very few were vocal about it. It was more of a secret kept by the people, maia herself thought that he wasn't capable of taking over his fathers' formidable role. she was willing to give him a chance, though her kindness was always used as a weakness, maia never seemed to learn.
r]at the bean she didn't have to worry about reacting to anything. the bean was colorful and bizarre even to its inhabitants; there were abandoned museums and booths of all sorts opened, a teenager manned a stall that promised 'romantic attraction' in the form of small drinks mixed with kool-aid, one peddled bamboo curtains, and small furniture goods. A joe offered a lost and found, his neck was braceleted with faux crystal necklaces and had gray-almost silver hair when he caught maia looking, he cracked an enigmatic grin.
"hey, maia! a little help, yeah?" francesca was on the ground, her arm braceleted with multiple shopping bags, maia jumped up towards frankie without a thought, "hey! how are you doing?" maia attempted to spark up a conversation, the pinky-lipped, dark-haired woman graced her beauty by even showing up to the bean. she didn't belong in the with the delinquents, maia just had a gut feeling about it. frankie looked innocent, sometimes even acting like a sweetwater civilian. "sorry frankie, i didn't see you struggling earlier," she giggled, her hand immediately covering her mouth.

SEBASTIAN ISAAC
━━VALENTINE!━━
age: 19 clan: willowwood location: the bean #: viv
x
xxxxsebastian doesn't remember much of the world before the click. he remembers sitting in the garden with his parents. bright smiles on their faces and the sunlight spilling across their features in a halo. his father bringing up the camera to capture the other two in a laughing fit. only the flash never came. he remembers that, and he remembers the now--broken--down house he once called home. on days like these, val wishes the memories away.
the sun's all--too--bright, reminding him of golden eyes. he'd rather it didn't, but he is outside regardless. sebastian shouldn't complain, not when there are others who've relied on their past lives much more heavily than himself.
he's left the willowwood building home if not too early, but val never valued sleep much. dreams didn't come easily, and nightmares weren't worth the trouble. no matter the time of day, you'd only find him sleeping very rarely.
xxxxinstead seb threw himself into work, one way or the other. growing up, he always thought he'd end up an officer like his father. he loved guns -- still does. not three years into the dark, sebastian cut all ties with his father and the memory of his mother. the man is likely long dead, but even if that weren't the case, he isn't going back. not sooner nor later. he ditched the idea of an officer's uniform, shut his mind off around long--ranged weapons and instead became a firefighter. axes fit well into his calloused hands and there was always little to no thinking involved. don't think, act fast.
besides, it was kind of hard to think about such things ever since vivian came along. he will forever deny it, but he can't help but get attached easily. normally, seb would find a way to use someone close to make himself look better, but viv's character tugged on his heart, and he knew the feeling all too well. it's there, but his stubborn self chose to ignore it. he stomped on the very idea of it whenever he walked over to his coworker to flirt with her playfully, knowing she's too good for him -- what they had was too good to be ruined by him.
xxxxhe should treat her the same as he does most people -- and he tries, lord does he try -- but he can't the smile splitting his lips upon spotting vivan in his way. he shook his head and huffed at himself as he made his way over.
he stalked up behind her in an effort to startle her, if only slightly. "gone back to creeping about, love?" he chuckled, moving so he was in front of her instead. sebastian wondered if viv's heard the news, being out early as she was "have you heard what the kingdom's buzzing about yet?" he tapped her shoulder lightly to get her attention.

amongst her thoughts, it was a mix of love and loneliness. it was difficult not to ever think about such things. being the hormonal teenager she was, she couldn't help but have such thoughts. they occured most often when she'd seen friends together while she was way too shy to say a word to another human being. it wasn't that she hated people. in fact, she loved people so much to the point she'd go to lengths for them, even if her quiet demeanor did not show it. who she truly was did not show externally like others. that was something she had to seriously work on. if she didn't, people would genuinely believe she didn't like them. maybe that was a huge part of her personality that really got to people once they knew her. when she was given a chance, she'd be your best advisor and friend to support you. it was a shame many failed to realize this, but it wasn't all their fault. viv just did her best to go out of her way to make someone feel truly loved by her.
they would see that vivian was the kindest human being with a big heart. she hadn't always been given the chance to show it, but it was true. she'd water your flowers, stay up late for hours and hours until you were completely okay, or even hold you until your eyes fell right out of their sockets from sobbing so much. the ironic thing was that her life had not always been so caring. her mother was busy working, always occupied, and never had time to cherish life with viv, nor her father. he became addicted to working and pushed family life away. vivian enjoyed working, but not to the point of making it her goal in life to become rich or anything. she cared more about creating relationships rather than creating a savings for retirement. considering the society she was now in, everything consisted on working together in a group or working alone, but from what she had seen, many preferred a group. it was just a preference to some, even for her.
the moment she had seen zeph and maia helping each other out was what sparked those deep thoughts. feelings seemed to do that, even if they were only feelings of friendship. the nineteen year old couldn't help but fall in love with having a friend whom you could share your upmost deep dark secrets with or just having someone help you carry a heavy load, whether it be a heavy load of bags or the weight of the world. but she couldn't just say she didn't have any of her own. she herself had close friends she had bonded with overtime. and, for sure, seb was one of those people. despite him being a total flirt, he had a heart and it seemed to show when he was with her the most, or that was what she liked telling herself. imagining that she was above any other girl for sebastian made her feel superior in a way. it wasn't because of his good looks or anything but because she knew him the way most others did not. the way they connected was different than just a regular kind of connection. though she chose to suppress it meant anything. it was.. better that way.
honestly, every time she saw his beautiful face, it was like seeing him for the first time. good god, his hair always looked so perfect and not to mention he smelled really really nice. even when he didn't try to look his best, he always did. his looks were effortless and she was taken to sebastian land in hot second. maybe it was just infatuation? she paused for a second to think while holding the berries she bought a few moments ago before a group of people from different clans left. then she realized: oh my. seb is talking to me. viv startled from the sound of the familiar voice and knew exactly who it was even before seeing his face. as always, he could guess what she was up to most of the time, which consisted of her basically stalking people who looked like they were having fun. there was a reason for that...
she let out a soft gentle laugh and gave a helpless shrug. "i look but don't talk." that would probably be the most relatable motto for her. everything about it screamed her personality. at least, in front of new people. it could be different with seb though. she may still be a bit nervous around him, but she manages to stay comfortable. that was what made their friendship - it made it stronger with their opposites. upon his next question, she became puzzled at first, but regained her composure and realized what he was talking about. she had not know much about this, but before, had heard the people talk about this very openly. she nodded. "i haven't been able to figure it out. what about you?" viv kept her gaze on him, trying not to let his presence completely sweep her off to neverland. although, she'd like to live young forever with him.
