ɪɴ ᴛʜᴇ ʙᴇɢɪɴɴɪɴɢIn the beginning of Asteraoth's life, he had it pretty rough. The family of three angels wasn't always given the best. Sure, they lived in heaven, but it certainly didn't feel like it. They were one of the few families cast off to the corner of Heaven. Surely Heaven is large, you must think, and everything important is in the center. You would be right, and that was the case. Asteraoth's family wasn't shown great treatment. They were just another angel family. They already had stations filled, jobs occupied. They didn't really need them, so why give them more when they can reward those who do work. They weren't even given a chance. Not until Alexis. When she was born, she beamed with power and energy. They knew she would be a strong angel. Of course, nowhere near archangel level, but still close. Asteraoth was estatic to have a baby sister, especially since the family started to be treated right. Asteraoth thought it was almost like their way of bribing them to not have another child... or maybe the opposite. He didn't really know, but he didn't care. Heaven seemed a bit more like Heaven now.
Since they live so long, Angels aren't really born to often, and when they are, they usually are on earth by non angels. Very few angels have kids of their own, especially since they are different than adult angels. Growing angels have to eat frequently, like regular kalons, where as adults don't have to eat as often, some not at all. They sleep a lot more than the adults do. Both Asteraoth and Alexis were born in Heaven, and their parents had a bit of trouble figuring out what they needed.
Asteraoth thought it was funny and ironic because kalons go to Heaven when they die- it isn't a proper place to be born!
ᴛʜᴇ ɴᴇᴄᴋʟᴀᴄᴇsThe necklaces were meant to keep them together. To help them stay together. Both Asteraoth and Alexis had them, and so did their parents. The four had matching ones- glass diamonds filled with gold and jewels. The necklaces would glow in the dark, and dim or brighten if they sensed their owner's fear. It could always perfectly tell which one you wanted it do do. The necklaces would glow when near each other.
Ultimately, the necklaces failed. They were a symbol of the family, but soon there would be no family to keep together.
ᴛʜᴇ ғɪʀsᴛ ᴅᴇᴘᴀʀᴛᴜʀᴇThe first departure is always the hardest for everyone. Of course it would only be the family and friend's losses, but the first departure means the beginning of war. Asteraoth's father was the first angel brave enough to sign up as a soldier to fight the war. Soon, many followed after him, stepping in his footsteps and using him as an example. Their father would be a symbol of strength and courage to the angels on their side. He was a strong angel; a brave angel. Many angels went too, leaving their families and some friends behind. It was sad for all of them, but necessary if they wanted to win against the angels who would cause chaos to their orderly system.
Asteraoth and Alexis were left without a father for the time being, but they had faith he would come back- for a little while. Weeks upon weeks of everything being idle, evedyone still had hope that things would turn better. Their mom didn't speak much, and had no belief that hef live would come back. She forced this upon her children, and eventually both Alexis and Asteraoth firmly believed that they wouldn't ever get to see their father alive again.
It was unfortunate that their mother was right, because they received a message of the first offical death in the war. That death was a noble death, the angels said. That the angel sacrificed himself for mass destruction, and things were vastly on their side.
Ironic how the first solidier to sign up for the war was also the first one to die.
ᴘᴀʀᴇɴᴛʟᴇssParentless, is what Asteraoth and Alexis were after their mother took her husband's death, no, the love of her life's death, harshly. She couldn't bare it when he was gone for war- she was crushed when he was pronounced dead. Their mother left selfishy. She wanted to flee from the war; hear nothing about any more death or destruction. She fleed from heaven, not even taking her children with her, but instead wanted to be alone. She went to earth, and performed acts of kindness by healing hurt animals. A dog that got hit by a car or a deer that was shot and left to die. "Small" stuff like that. Things that might go unnoticed, but are still appreciated.
Now that the two had noone to look after them, they had to look after themselves. Asteraoth, being the oldest, took more responsibility than his younger sister. They took our the trash, cleaned, cooked, and did everthing else to keep things in order. In his opinion, Alexis made better food, but he still liked cooking. In fact, the two fought over who cooks when and had to make a fair and even schedule since they both had vastly different opinions on what to eat and had complete opposite pallets and thoughts on taste. Asteraoth liked spaghetti a lot- italian food and chinese food were his favorites. Even just plain American type food. Alexis liked Indian, Cajun, Thai, and Japanese food. Both shared a deep hatred for hotdogs though, which is what they had to eat most of the time.
For the most part, the two never left each side.
But then the soldiers came.
ᴅɪᴠɪᴅᴇᴅSoldiers came through every house. They checked for residents and counted everyone. Those who weren't there and weren't marked down specially were noted. Absences were counted and questioned by others. They asked neighbors if they knew where they were. Most the time they got a clarifying answer- other times... they didn't. When they didn't get an answer they were put on a search list.
Of course, this process took time, and many knew when they would be checked, so the angels were obedient and waited in their homes so they wouldn't get in trouble. Asteraoth and Alexis were unaware of this, so when they heard pounding at their door, they hid. When the door was blasted down, Asteraoth only hid further, but Alexis, not being as smart, peeked her head around to see what just happened. The soldiers saw the small kalon, and grabbed her against their will. Recognizing her as the daughter of the brave solider, attention was given to her by the angels there. They asked about her mother, and Alexis answered honestly, saying she left. Asteraoth was too scared to come out, even though they didn't seem that bad. The soldiers were so caught up in their find of this powerful little angel they forgot she had a brother. They left, taking her, and marking that house as unoccupied.
Neither of them knew how to react. Asteraoth was unsure if they were the bad guys or the good guys and thus didn't want to reveal himself. He was not willing to sacrifice himself to be with his sister. Alexis didn't know about them either, but she was willing to sacrifice herself so her brother could come and get her soon.
Alexis was afraid, but had nothing to fear. She was safe by those who her father fought with. She was put into a camp with a few other younger parentless angels and some refugees. The topic of her brother came up a few times, but when they learned about their mother's departure they all assumed Asteraoth went with her, and the two siblings had been divided.
ᴛʜᴇɪʀ ғᴀᴜʟᴛAlone they were. They all were. Each and every one picked off from Asteraoth one by one. And it was all their fault.
"Father just had to be soooo braveeeee," He thought.
"Mama couldn't bareeee to be without Fatherrrrrr. She was blinded," He told himself.
"Alexis won't bother to tell them the truth about me. I can't find her," He continued on his rants.
"It is their fault I have no family. It is their fault I am alone.
"Father is dead. His fault.
Mama is sad and alone. Her
and Father's fault.
Alexis is probably being treated terribly. Father's fault
and Mama's fault
and her fault.
I am all alone... not my fault.It is theirs."
ᴍᴇ ᴛɪᴍᴇBeing alone surely wouldn't help Asteraoth any, but he still enjoyed his "me time." There were no rules. He ate what he wanted, did what he wanted, and stayed up until he wanted. It really was fun- at first. Then it got boring. Asteraoth came to the conclusion he needed to become stronger so he could fend for himself properly. He tried to teach himself how to fight, but that really wasn't successful.
Asteraoth's entire mindset had been changed in the time he was alone. He was fired up with rage and revenge. His fuel when work was his family. He wore the family necklace, though disgusted by it, to remind himself of their betrayal.
Asteraoth was still young and needed to stock his old home with the things that he would need. The water no longer worked, so he had to get water from a clean and clear pond by carrying it in buckets. An angel had watched him almost every day go take a bucket or sometimes two down to where he lived. And the angel was curious as to why this angel needed so much water.
One of the days, the angel followed Asteraoth silently and located his home. The neck day when Asteraoth went out for water, the angel went to his home.
Section on;;
Being taken in by another angel, who was on the bad side. Asteraoth moved to a very nice camp with the angel. Asteraoth did not know that and the angel convinced him that they were on the good side. He is trained to properly fight by this angel.
A few Years pass. He is now around 22 or so human years. Most of the war has been idle and not much has happened.
ᴀᴛ ᴡᴀʀSection on;;
The war is still going on. About a surprise attack and a battle begind. Asteraoth rushes out to fight. Intense battle scene. He battles and fights against other angels. Asteraoth is driven off and away from the rest of the other angels by a strong and beautiful kalon. She is so much better and better equipped than him, but she stalls and keeps the fight going on. The kalon/angel pins him down and is sitting on him. She is fit and a regular weight, but she is strong and her armor is very heavy; it weighs her down a lot and she has the power. The angel takes off her helmet.
ᴀɴ ᴀɴɢᴇʟ ᴛᴏ sᴘᴀʀᴇA continuation of the last section;;
After the kalon takes off her helmet she goes on about life and death. She speaks a lot and talks over the faint yelling screams and clashing in the distance. She also talks about how she changed her mind and doesn't wish to kill anyone but still wants to stand for what she believes in.
She stands up and over him, she has the power to kill him.
"I can see kindess in you. It isn't pure terror and rage you are filled with, you aren't power hungry like the others. I see sympathy- empathy even.
You are an angel to spare."
She was wrong, and her words meant nothing to him.
She got off him and helped him up. Asteraoth had a wary and grateful, lustful loving appreciative gaze when he locked eyes with her. But they drove each other so far off that they were near a cliff that when the locked paws for when she got him up off the ground he threw her off. Her heavy armor prevented her from flying, and down she went. It is unknown if she lived the fall but it is extremely unlikely.
