Honeystar inhaled sharply with surprise and she too, closed her eyes to mourn for a kit and warrior she had never known. She couldn't imagine such a tragedy and hoped that she would never have to. When Morningstar mentioned that Leafclan might have been involved, her thoughts immediately jumped to Frigidrose. That molly was so wily that she had convinced Emberstar that Morningstar's apprentice had started a fight at a Gathering. "Do you have any suspicions as to any one cat?" Honeystar asked. "And do you need any herbs?"

Only. Only a kit and a warrior died. While it could have been much worse for Caveclan, Birchnose was still shocked. A kit had died, the worst tragedy any clan could imagine. "If you need any assistance, I'd gladly help and I'm sure Honeystar would say the same," she said.

Crowcloud smiled. "Welcome to the Gathering," he said. Charredfern seemed very nice and young in a way most of Crowcloud's clanmates weren't anymore. "Forestclan is doing well and so am I. What about you?"

Dustleaf turned and saw three cats--one tom and two apprentices--approaching her. The tom looked...surprised? Pleased? Dustleaf couldn't tell what his expression was. "Do you know her?" she asked softly. "It might be best to give her some space." She gave a small half-smile in the direction of the young molly.

Applenose glanced around the crowd, not seeing many familiar faces. He finally chose to walk over to a tom who looked worried. About what? he thought to himself. A moment later he saw the molly. Well, the more the merrier.

"Hello," Applenose said in greeting, with a little nod. "I'm Applenose of Forestclan. I don't think we've met?"

Tippaw cocked her head slightly. Mintpaw's answer was slightly strange, but she figured that maybe he didn't like to speak about what happened before he had joined Caveclan. She knew that a few other cats in her clan--Briarwhisker, mostly--were like that. "Being an apprentice is fun," she said in reply to Ashpaw. "I get to do so much more than I could as a kit! And Hillpaw's really fun to spar with. She's only been an apprentice for a moon longer than us."

"She means us and our littermates," Brightpaw amended. "And then Fleckstorm's kits are gonna become apprentices too...!" He chuckled. "The den is gonna be so crowded."

"But really warm in the leafbare," said Tippaw with a smile.

"Yeah."

Morningstar shook his head as Honeystar asked about a specific cat. "We don't even have proof they were involved. Just scenting them isn't enough to condemn them." Once more he shook his head. "I don't believe so but if Shadedleaf and Cloudpool mention it, I'll send them your way."

Shadedleaf blinked sympathetically at him. "We've not had to deal with rogues but I've been in a similar situation with the two queens who kitted around a moon ago. They've been keeping everyone busy." Sadness welled as she thought of Maplekit. He'd no longer be able to run and play with his living siblings. "One of the kits, Splashkit, has shown a bit of interest in the medicine den but it's too early to tell if she'll end up our apprentice."
The medicine cat sighed, "Cloudstar does understand that you'll teach him or her everything necessary? That the apprentice doesn't need a warrior mentor?"

The pair were most certainly not friends especially since Sedgetail's broken leg was causing some strife between them. With Harespring's protectiveness over his sister and Burrwhisker's adoration of the beautiful silver tabby, a quarrel or two was unavoidable. The only reason they were even together was because of Harespring's mistrust of the former Tumbleclan tom.

Cloudstar made his way up onto the leader's rock, he sat away from the others, not really in the mood to chat. He was sure he would say the wrong thing if he did because of what has happened back at camp. So many cats grieved over Starlingpaw's death, not to mention now there was a panic coming from Archpool about all the litters coming up. The medicine cat argued with the leader about postponing Owlpaw's warrior training and start her on healing knowledge but Cloudstar refused. The leader was just in a foul mood and was a ticking time bomb at the moment.

"I don't have many kitting herbs as it is and these mollies just love kits." he groaned quietly.

"I am so sorry, I realize that I am just complaining." Archpool meowed apologetically. "Cloudstar just has a way that rubs my fur wrong." he muttered.

The tom got up and saw a cat in the corner of the gathering, either an easy target or a cat like him. "What are you doing over here by yourself?" he demanded to the molly.

"I don't believe so either, my name is Rabbitheart. I am a warrior of Briarclan." Rabbitheart added the last bit quickly, almost forgetting the name of the clan he was currently in. It felt odd to say Briarclan and not Aspenclan. Instead of reminiscing in the past he went forward with the conversation "So, you are in Forestclan? How are things fairing there for you?" he asked.

Lambpaw was so fascinated with everything that he didn't see the large black and white tom that he ran into. "Hey!" He began to complain but then saw the two cats his age "Hey you two look the same age as me!" he meowed happily.

"I am Lambpaw, an apprentice of Briarclan. Though I lost my mentor here somewhere." The pure white Persian chuckled, his pale green eyes looked at the cat before him as he introduced himself.

The cat before her frightened her but the smell of herbs made her relax a bit, at least enough for her to toss her name out at the molly, "Ow-owlpaw." she meowed in her usual whisper voice. Most cat's back in the clan never talked to her because they would always have to strain their ears but maybe this would be different. The claw marks on her hind leg was starting to sting but she didn't want to look away from the stranger.

Dustleaf nodded at Owlpaw to show that she had understood. Owlpaw. Such a plain but lovely prefix, in her opinion. And, she thought with a bit of amusement, owls were usually quiet, too. In Forestclan's territory, at least. "What clan are you from, Owlpaw?" she asked.

Applenose nodded, taking in the brief hesitation. Clearly Rabbitheart hadn't been with Briarclan for long. He remembered what entering Forestclan as an apprentice had been like and hoped that Briarclan was just as supportive. "Life is good," Applenose replied. "Snowfoot's kits became apprentices a couple of moons back and Fleckstorm's kits are due to become apprentices in two moons." He shook his head with amusement. "The clan will be flooded with apprentices! What about you?" he asked. "What's life like in Briarclan? And..." he hesitated before continuing. "Sorry if this is nosy but...how long have you been with Briarclan for? I've been with Forestclan since I was about six moons," he said.

"Well most of our apprentices are just about to become warriors actually. So there will only be a few apprentices for some time. Our elder, Resinmoon has been throwing the word kit-fever around a lot and I have heard that there are three mollies due around the same time. So Briarclan has a different problem, we will be over run with kits I think." Rabbitheart went into shock as he just realized what that meant and then he recognized the season they were coming into.

With wide eyes he looked at the tom "I have been with them for maybe four or five moons now..." he didn't want to mention how long he planned on staying after he met the realization. The warriors will be over worked during leaf bare just to support all the mouths to feed! He was a warrior! He did not like the sound of this and hoped that Cloudstar had a plan that didn't kill every cat in the clan.

Lambpaw looked around them and saw his sister cowering into a bush, not realizing she was injured or anything. "That's just Owlpaw, though she should still be a kit. You can hardly even talk to her, or understand her. She is just like a kit! Everyone back at Brairclan thinks so anyways." Lambpaw rolled his eyes in annoyance with his sister.

"Just leave her alone, she is always alone anyways. I bet she is use to it by now, always playing by herself or in the medicine cat's den when Archpool is there. I am sure I heard her say that the smell of herbs calms her or something like that, but I doubt it." The white tom overly explained.

The already small apprentice now looked like a small kit that shouldn't even be here, she wished she wasn't here in the first place. Even when her brother teased her she refused to say another word, she couldn't say another word.

Orchidstar slipped onto the leader's rock, somewhat proud to see that Gorseclan was one of the first arrivals. She quietly waited, taking the quiet moment to clean her fur.

Batwing had been watching the group for a while, when a silver molly with a haughty look on her face began speak with him.
"Leafclan, eh?" He meowed, flashing her a smirk. "Well I'm Batwing, Gorseclan's deputy." He briefly began to ponder what she had meant by the 'new' deputy of Leafclan, but swiftly pushed away the thought in favor of what she was saying.

"Oh! Well I am doing great as well!" He replied, his voice probably a bit too loud to be casual, but he didn't seem to notice. Or care, for that matter. The medicine cat hummed as he thought, before chirping out a question. "So, Crowcloud.. What's it like in Forestclan?" He stopped to chuckle. "I'm take it you have a forest?"

"Well, I'm sorry for your clan's loss.." She murmured, frowning slightly at the thought. Death was always hard, but the loss of a young cat was all the more troubling.
When Willowdusk switched the subject, she was quick to latch onto it. "Oho, what might it be, hmm?" She smirked, ears pricked curiously.

Jinxstar led his clan into the gathering space, quickly trotting over to the leaders perch and jumping up. He looked at who had gathered and wondered who to talk to first.

Rowanpelt was troubled about the state of affairs in JinxClan ever since Willowbolt had told him what was going on at the last Gathering, so the russet-furred deputy scanned the area worriedly for any sign of a familiar black pelt among the rest of the deputies as he approached the area where they were all gathered. His ears perked up when he could spot Willowpelt and quickly trotted over to her, not even bothering to greet her as he spoke. "How are my kits?" He asked anxiously.

"They are great, the were named apprentices just yesterday." Willowbolt told him with a smile, "They will all be an asset to the clan."

She seemed like she was going to say more, but just left it at that for the moment.

She knew that this tom was smart, and she knew that he might not be fooled, but she could at least try.

"I hope I don't end up having more litters of kits to worry about. Our elder Resinmoon mentioned the term 'Kit-Fever' and I would hate to be in the middle of that all on my own." he groaned. "I don't have many kitting herbs as it is and these mollies just love kits." he groaned quietly.

"I am so sorry, I realize that I am just complaining." Archpool meowed apologetically. "Cloudstar just has a way that rubs my fur wrong." he muttered.

"Well most of our apprentices are just about to become warriors actually. So there will only be a few apprentices for some time. Our elder, Resinmoon has been throwing the word kit-fever around a lot and I have heard that there are three mollies due around the same time. So Briarclan has a different problem, we will be over run with kits I think." Rabbitheart went into shock as he just realized what that meant and then he recognized the season they were coming into.

With wide eyes he looked at the tom "I have been with them for maybe four or five moons now..." he didn't want to mention how long he planned on staying after he met the realization. The warriors will be over worked during leaf bare just to support all the mouths to feed! He was a warrior! He did not like the sound of this and hoped that Cloudstar had a plan that didn't kill every cat in the clan.

"N-no" Owlpaw meowed quietly, though she was sure no cat would hear her over her brother's outburst towards her. Her eyes started to tear and she shut them as hard as she could. She tried to shut everything and everyone out, just as Archpool had taught her when she was younger. She had to resist the urge to cover her ears with her paws like a kit, willing for any cat to come to her rescue.

"T-Tux?" Wildpoppy's voice came out in a choked whisper. She looked at the apprentices next to him then up at her mate before her gaze hardened slightly. With a determined twitch of her stubbed tail, the queen turned and began to stalk back across the clearing to her clanmates.
