"It's no problem," said the doctor, smiling kindly at Ingo. She glanced over at Darius, who was still tied up. "What's wrong with him?" she asked, pointing the stick she had taken from Sonja at the young man. "Dead, or just unconscious?" Sonja sat up slowly, forcing herself off the ground with an elbow. "Unconscious, I think," she said. "Well, then he can wait," said the doctor. Reaching into her bag, she pulled out a roll of bandages. "Take off your shirt," she said to Sonja. The girl blushed heavily, and glanced at Liam. Dr. Clemmens gestured for him to leave, so he did. Sonja pulled her white shirt, sticky with blood, up over her blond hair that was caked with mud and more blood. She had on underclothes, of course, so it wasn't as awkward as it could have been. The doctor wrapped bandages around Sonja's waist where she had been shot, then up over the girl's shoulder so they wouldn't come loose if she moved around. Tying the bandages into tight, neat knots, she handed the girl her shirt and stood up as Sonja pulled it on. The doctor glanced at the sword on the floor, then at William's body, then at the pirate. "You killed him?" Sonja nodded. "He cheated, you know." The pirate girl paused and looked up, confused. "Pulling a gun on you like that, I mean. He should have fought fair, blade to blade."

Ingo piped in, "He never was bloody fair, leaving someone who loves you without saying a word then when you see them next you try to kill their best friends. that could never be fair even in his heartless eyes," Ingo said with a certain flair of passion. She hated that one day when he had left her, he went on the ship without a word to her and didn't come back. ingo felt she could never live without him, but now she knew he couldn't live without her...literally.

Dr. Clemmens sat next to Ingo and put a hand around her shoulders comfortingly, as she had when her own children were young enough for heartbreak. She was old now, but still kind. "Honey," she said, "If he could do all those things to you without a second glance, he's better off where he is, and you're better off without him." She looked at Darius, then William, and then at Sonja, who was cleaning blood from her swordblade. "This was not a crime," she said, still talking to Ingo. "A murder, yes, but not a crime. Love trumps all, but false love is like a cuckoo in a sparrow's nest. It will kill everything to achieve its own goals." She hugged Ingo like a kindly grandmother, then stood up. "I'd better see to this young man here." She pulled chicken feathers from her bag, and a match.

Ingo sighed but she knew the doctor was right. Ingo thought about things, she knew it was no use crying over spilt milk, or blood. At least he will never be able to kill or hurt again, Ingo thought trying to be positive, but she couldn't maintain her smile for too long. It was hard to find light in life when there was a perfect model of death in front of you.

Dr. Clemmens lit the chicken feathers on fire and let them burn for a moment, then blew out the flames, releasing a puff of noxious-smelling smoke. She waved it under Darius's nose and he came to immediate coughing life, spluttering and trying to wiggle away from the doctor. "Hold still," she snapped, then sliced through his bonds with a small knife that she had been hiding in her long brown jacket's pocket. The young man rubbed his wrists, then looked around. First he spotted William and jumped to his feet, then saw Sonja, standing with her bloodstained shirt. His eyes caught her sword, and the gun lying near William's lifeless hand. He stood for a moment, looking Sonja over, then stepped forwards and put a hand on her shoulder, as if to make sure that she wasn't a ghost.

Ingo took a step back, she knew it wasn't her place to be beside Sonja when Darius was there with her. She smiled at them. Ingo was mature for her age because of love and recognised even the faintest glimmer of it when she witnessed it.

Sonja smiled and laughed, even though tears were streaming down her face, and pulled Darius into a hug. Dr. Clemmens stood next to Ingo and folded her arms in a self-satisfactory way, glad that Sonja hadn't died. It would have been a shame, really.

Sonja was laughing now, and crying, and as she hugged Darius tightly she knew that she had done the right thing in killing William. If she hadn't, he most certainly would have killed her. She reflected on this for a brief moment, but then Darius' lips found hers and she was swept away by his kiss.

Liam poked his head through the door, raised an eyebrow, and popped back out again, to where Alexa was standing outside. (She was standing outside, wasn't she?) "Isn't it interesting," he said, "How my brother, who should by all rights be a respectable armorer, ends up falling in love with one of the most notorious pirates of the time?" He didn't, of course, realize that Alexa herself was a pirate- not with her in a dress and all.

Liam glanced at Alexa, and noticed that she looked rather unhappy. "What's wrong?" he asked, genuinely curious. She looked good- it couldn't be that, and he didn't know how she would know the people inside. [As in all things, Liam is clueless about women X3]

"It's just that..." ALexa started. She didnt know if she could tell him that she was a pirate. She some how liked this boy. SHe looked down, embarrassed.
