Heronstar nodded politely at what Deerstar said. "And I hope Gustclan can... at least fare sinilarly." Heronstar was sure there was no way in which a mother could actually say there was any benefit in their kit dying, so saying what she said even for politeness' sake was hard.
"Many moons now. Enough for my kits to have managed to become warriors within Gustclan." That seemed a good measure. Enough to bring up a new generation was a good unit.

OoC: I'm running on the logic that most animals don't have concepts of numbers higher than about 4; we know the clan cats can count to 6 due to apprenticing ages, but I don't think they can count higher; they are still cats. And societies can function perfectly well without them; as many more isolated cultures currently do. So Gustclan can count to 6 and any higher is either "oligo" (from ancient Greek, meaning "quite a few but not masses") or "many".
But Heronstar means 29.

Shellcloud started walking around the clearing, turning and spinning to look up above him better. He was stopped entirely in his tracks when he bumped into a larger tom. He practically yelped (still hating physical contact with all but his direct family and Nettlepaw), and jumped back, then stayed still in place, staring directly into the other tom's eyes in a way that any other cat would have known was a bad idea.
He didn't break eye contact at all, but kept on staring for a few seconds.
"The sky's nice tonight." Shellcloud said. "It's good to watch."
Many cats would have easily interpreted his soft tone as sort of creepy, but for Shellcloud it was a mixture of his sensitive ears and his reverie for what he could see around him. It probably said a lot about Shellcloud that he was more interested in the sky than in other cats.

Orchidstar slipped onto the leader's rock, somewhat proud to see that Gorseclan was one of the first arrivals. She quietly waited, taking the quiet moment to clean her fur.

Batwing hummed absentmindedly as he sat in the empty deputies's circle. Stretching out, Batwing put on a relaxed yet confident stance. He twitched his ears around, searching for any signs of an approaching clan.

The spotted she-cat stepped nervously into the clearing. Would CaveClan make an appearance after the badger attack? What would happen? Would another fight break out? Her thoughts were interrupted when she noticed a tail resting on her back. Turning to her right, she found Frigidrose. "Don't worry. It will be fine," the deputy mewed soothingly. Emberstar nodded slowly and padded away toward the Great Rock.

Leaping onto the Leader's rock, Morningstar's orange tabby fur prickled with unease. So soon after the attack, most of the Caveclan cats bore the marks of battle. Thanks to Shadedleaf and Cloudpool, the wounds would heal fast but he knew the pair were worried about the cats with the worst injuries. His eyes narrowed furiously as he thought of Willowtail's story. If Leafclan had something to do with the attack, they'd pay. Eyes searching the clearing, he wondered if Forestclan would be there. He had much to talk to Honeystar about.
His gaze narrowed darkly when he spotted Leafclan but Morningstar didn't move yet. It was best to talk to Honeystar first, see what his ally thought since he had no proof that Leafclan had been involved in the attack.

Tucking her paws under her, Shadedleaf watched the clan's interact, mind focused mainly on her clan. Cloudpool had decided to stay and look after the cats with the worst injuries while Shadedleaf went to the gathering. She would've much rathered staying to help look after the injured cats but one of them needed to help represent Caveclan at the gathering, especially since they'd missed the last one.

The pair were most certainly not friends especially since Sedgetail's broken leg was causing some strife between them. With Harespring's protectiveness over his sister and Burrwhisker's adoration of the beautiful silver tabby, a quarrel or two was unavoidable. The only reason they were even together was because of Harespring's mistrust of the former Tumbleclan tom.

Cloudstar made his way up onto the leader's rock, he sat away from the others, not really in the mood to chat. He was sure he would say the wrong thing if he did because of what has happened back at camp. So many cats grieved over Starlingpaw's death, not to mention now there was a panic coming from Archpool about all the litters coming up. The medicine cat argued with the leader about postponing Owlpaw's warrior training and start her on healing knowledge but Cloudstar refused. The leader was just in a foul mood and was a ticking time bomb at the moment.

The medicine cat was just about to sit down before he spotted the familiar pelt of Shadedleaf. He stood back up and padded over to her "Good evening Shadedleaf." he meowed tiredly. "How have you been?" he asked with hardly any emotion.

Sagestorm smirked as he entered the clearing, the last time he was here he managed to start a fight with an airhead tom. Now he came here as a step in deputy for Bouldershade as Cloudstar demanded he get some rest, all apart of Sagestorm's plan; he was the one to suggest it anyways. The grey tabby tom made his way towards the deputies area, malice in his eyes before he pushed a few cats aside and sat smack in the middle of all the collected deputies. Not bothering to say a simple excuse me or sorry to any cat he touched. A smug smile spread across his face as he stared at a few cats, tonight he planned on listening. He wanted to find the largest clan in the forest, one day he would declare war with them and prove that Briarclan is the strongest.

It wasn't until he was comfortable that he felt something press against him and shiver, when he looked down he saw his scared apprentice. "Go away Owlpaw! I told you to not get in my way!" he hissed at the molly. She just looked at him with wide eyes and he shoved her away. "I said get lost!" he spat quietly, swatting her and causing a few scratches as she ran away from the deputy area.

Rabbitheart watched as Sagestorm took his spot on the deputies rock and strike at Owlpaw. The tom felt bad and worried for the little apprentice but didn't dare go against Sagestorm. For now he just watched, quietly and not paying attention to who was around him.

The molly stayed near Rabbitheart, just as quiet as he was. She had only been to the gathering once and didn't feel it was so great. To her they were boring and she wished she could be back at camp, playing with her new siblings.

The molly walked around the clearing, she was getting to tired and knew she needed to find someone to chat with or she would be tempted to curl up somewhere and get some rest. Willowdusk closed her eyes and opened them slowly, all the while telling herself that the first cat in her sights would be the one she would talk to.

When a grey and white tabby came into view she walked over to them "Hello, I am Willowdusk. A warrior of Briarclan." she introduced herself and then asked "And you are?"

Lambpaw lost sight of both his mentor and his sister but he didn't seem bothered about it any, as long as he could see Cloudstar up on the leader's rock he knew his clan was still here. The small white Persian tom walked around the clearing in awe as he took in all the new sights and smells of the area. He even took in some of the new scents and was amazed that so many cats came here.────────────────────────────────────────

After being harshly hit by her mentor and shooed away Owlpaw found a nice and quiet spot away from just about every cat. She hid in the bushes the best she could but knew that her wound would attract some cat to her, but she was to frightened to move to clean it. The super shy cat was frozen in place as she watched the gathering in front of her, her eyes darted through the crowd of cats, looking for a familiar pelt but had no luck with finding any.

"Morningstar will tell the clans during announcements but we were attacked by badgers." Shadedleaf closed her eyes for a moment, before adding, "They were driven out of course but they still managed to kill two of us."

Honeystar padded into the clearing warily. The past moon had been fairly peaceful--other than the nasty incident when trying to go to the Moonpool--and she wondered what news the other clans would bring. She leaped onto the Leaders' Rock and almost immediately picked out Morningstar's ginger fur from the rest. She glanced around the clans, spotting Leafclan fairly quickly, before turning back to the other leader.

"Hello Morningstar," she said. "How has your clan been?" Her ears twitched slightly as she took in the mussed up fur, indicative of recent injuries. Had Caveclan been in a battle?

Brightpaw and Tippaw looked around the Gathering with wide eyes. They couldn't have imagined that there were so many clans--and so many cats!

"I think I see some apprentices," Brightpaw said with a nudge. "Let's say hi!"

The littermates bounded over to a pair of apprentices who smelled familiar--like one of the border clans, though neither could remember which one.

"Hi," said Tippaw quietly, starting the conversation. "I-I'm Tippaw of Forestclan and this is my littermate, Brightpaw."

"It's our first time at a Gathering!" exclaimed Brightpaw.
