The Beginners Guide to Butterfly Wolves [Updated 06-05-2020]

I know this is a little late, but does anyone know the name of these guys, or the items they were based off of? the wiki doesnt have a name for me to go off of to find their proper item to dress them up, just who made them.

I believed that the first BW's corresponding item is this: from Easter of 2011. The other two were not inspired by items afaik; candy cane pets are a classic each year

Theyve been named when this guide was created but i suppose it is easy to read over c:

'These Butterfly Wolves are most commonly referred to as the "Front-Page B-wolves" as they were available for almost two years. (e.g. Red Front-page Butterfly Wolf, Teal Front-page Butterfly Wolf, etc.).'

I saw that. The problem is that only lists the names for two of them, and not even in order with how they're pictured. Considering everyone perceives colors/tints differently, and that there is more than one "blue" and "green" in that set, that really isn't clear enough.

There's also unresolved discrepancy in this thread about whether the purple one should include a reference to the flower or not; same with the darker blue one with the moon.

Also the older pages don't seem to be updated or accurate. For example the "spiderwing b-wolf" is listed as "spider b-wolf or ghost b-wolf"

I've been trying to go through and name the pets in my collection by their official names and the b-wolves (particularly the 2008-2009 ones) have not been anywhere near as clear and as straightforward as the dogs. I understand not updating the other species as frequently, especially if there's not many people working on it, but it would help a lot if the format across the wiki was consistent.

My guides are pretty consistant throughout the ones i own, but i didnt start them all so thats where the differences came from. The bw guide had 3 or 4 owners before me. So i guess it depens on which guides you look at, but the majority of the guides share my format, at least from the points i took them over :)

In order: teal, dark blue, dark green, yellow, light blue, light green, red, purple front page bw's. Thats their names.

Pets generally get named once, and when the name changes it doesnt get updated. Theres also a lot of pages missing names simply because nobody helps naming. Im already responsible for 80% of the names on cs and i frequently ask for help but theres never much response :) feel free to go through and help anme any that are left unnamed. I will edit accordinly but without any name to add its got no use to edit.

Also, in the first post that links to the different years for BW on the Wiki, all years AFTER 2013 are linking TO 2013. In addition, the Wiki does not yet have a page for 2016 BWs.

Also the space bfws, the gold one is also a moon bfw, it's just a golden moon, like how the items from the jewellery pack in the store have both silver and gold moons. They are nightbringers, pulling the moon and stars across the night sky. I don't have specific names for them, or for the bannerfly either. It's just some sort of tundra alien, that's why the front is so fluffy, to keep it warm.

The March 2017 bfws are the Tangy Business litter. No specific names but I'd probably call them Yellow Citris, Lime and Pink Lace or something like that.

The May 2014 litter that are unnamed are based on specific caterpillars/moths. They are:
Ethmia Pusiella (orange - couldn't find a common name for this one?)
Figure of Eight Moth (yellow)
Spanish Moth (pink)
Luna Moth (PPS)

The 2015 Halloween BFW colours are based on Vampire, Pumpkin Patch & Sunset, though Black, Green & Purple will just as easily differentiate them.
