Honeystar nodded solemnly. He had been so promising, too... She chuckled at her grandfather's joke. "I'm glad you approve," she said with a smile. "And if I ever need your advice, I'll still come to you. You can be my unofficial deputy."

Cougarstorm paused near the river, raising her head and tail high and squinting her eyes for a moment. Fishing wasn't her strongest suit, but she wouldn't fall into the river--hopefully. She padded closer to the bank and stared down into the water, seeing a flicker that could have been a fish or a water plant. Or perhaps it was a tadpole.

"Let's see how much we can bring back," she called to Crowstep. She turned back to the river and held her paw out, waiting for the moment she could attempt to grab a fish.

Mudclaw chuckled. "Why not?" he said. "Lead the way."

Nightclaw nodded with understanding. While it wouldn't be the end of the clan--or the world--it would nonetheless be uncomfortable if someone happened to get hurt and there was no way to numb the pain. He turned slightly as his mate passed by and gave a small smile in return before turning his attention back to Swiftfoot. "Would you like me to go with you and look for the herbs?" he asked.

He sat down close to the waters edge, eyes fixated on the water. It rippled, a fish coming up to eat.
Crowstep waited till it proceeded under the shiny water and then he lashed out in front of its shadow unsheathed claws and flung it beside him.

He then went back for a second. He could only carry two fish but he was going to hunt more if he could.

Cougarstorm heard the splash as Crowstep's paw went into the water and watched him spear the fish with ease. She sighed, turning back to her own section. It wasn't going well, it seemed. Her ears perked with interest as she saw a few ripples, indicative of the fish underneath the water. Her paw lashed out but the shadows darted away. She had failed.

"Oh well," she muttered. She'd just try again.
