i highly doubt that herringbone himself would remove the strings, like is that even possible? who would let him in the castle, other than for questioning? why would he be touching the board?

whoever removed these strings is in favor of him and therefor is good in my book hahaha
but who would be in favor of the "local grumpy dragon"? someone who has a crush on him? the tentacled person?
so... maybe wade? why would wade be making changes on the board? who else has tentacles? i noticed that wade seemingly has the suction cup things on her arms as well, and her paws maybe? so that would be an explainable reason for the marks on the notes?

Who I actually think did it? I think it was finnegan. Finnegan asks us to bring "seaweed, kelp, shells, and wood." All of which were found at the crime scene. Also he is an old design storepets meaning we weren't going to be able to recieve a version of him during the event, which means it's safe to say he can be a prime suspect. He has the key, and he is a water dragon. Meaning he has scales, and webs. He says he wants to brighten up the hall, but he needs the seaweed kelp shells etc to do so. But when we give him what he asks for, he gives us decorations for the hall. What would he need all those tokens for? Especially since that is what damaged the crime scene anyways. He actually could of tried framing the chief because he claimed "When I left work last night, the only one here was Cheif Calamari" perhaps trying to lead us down the wrong trail. In addition, he should know who has the keys since he is the lead organizer of the jamboree. Meaning that he could easily go wherever he wants in that place without looking suspicious. We also don't know where he was after the chief left. He may have snuck back in to destroy the place and then leave without a sound.
Motive: overworked, and stressed. Having to deal with all the constant work and pressure made him crack.
In addition he could also be working with Cheif so they could have an "alibi" they both seem quite upset with the jamboree, and need a break. If they did work together Cheif would have been the one who made the tentacle markings around the stage, and Finnegan would have left the scales.

Ok. So I've figured it out. It has to be Finnegan because he's the only one who can manover through the jamboree without any suspicion. He was able to throw a lot of us off by lying, and making most of us jump to someone else thinking that they did it. So the thing is, we know where he could of did it, how he got the materials (from us) and why he did it. But I feel like he had help. I don't think, (because he claimed he works most of the time) he had enough time to actually damage the instruments. But he could of helped someone get to the instruments, and lied about seeing them. After all, he claimed he saw the Cheif, so that we could be thrown off.

SO THEN WHO HELPED HIM

If Cheif is lying then he may have been going out to meet up with finnegan to the stage. Sooo yeah. Think it's finnegan still.

I think that a chef could possibly forgot to lock the gate and some animal got in and made the mess then went away, the chef didn't say anithing cuz he made a mistake and had a full responsibility!

Because they just think that nobody suspects them? Because it seems that it's very hard to convince people that Finnegan did it.
