And I feel as though Squiddy's face changed as well.

The fact that 'Who else had a key to the courtyard' is still in question on the pinboard is making me think. We're forgetting about shelly and her connections with Raire's hints... Could her boutique have originally been in the courtyard? Could she have gotten a key to help decorate in previous years?

Now I'm starting to think it's a combo of Shelly and Penopea.
Penopea because tentacle marks and some squids are known for fast swimming that could be seen as a flash of red, especially since it was in the darkness and some pinks can be seen as red in the dark. It's also seen she had a key from what the pinboard said.
Shelly because we traded in shells and seaweed to help her make clothes... That could have been a lie. She could have gave those to Penopea. But where did she get the wood from?

Woah. I also like this theory. The wood and the motive are all we need.

Panopea
Musicians would take away her business if they were both in the courtyard together. She seems fascinated by the pearls, so perhaps she would stop at nothing to get them... Even if that means sabotaging the jamboree musicians so she's the center of attention, and therefore getting more of her precious pearls.

Also, pearls do keep popping up in the breaking news.

I thought I was crazy because everyone was denying it had changed so I was like 'oh maybe my phone was just glitched'

What if it was Cuttler, Shelly, and Panopea?

Shelly would've been how they got the kelp and shells. Cuttler or Panopea would've let 'em in, and Panopea would be the flash of red. Having two squids would explain the tentacle prints. And, we all know Cuttler's been asking for some wood, so that would explain the wood found on the scene. (I think I saw someone else mention this, but Cuttler asked for rope too, which could've been attached to the wood to smash into the instruments)

I dunno, just throwing out an idea.

although Cuttler's evidence is decently solid, it just doesnt make sense to me.
we all know how upset he was with his job in the beginning, but since then he's become very much happy
it just doesnt make sense for me why he would want to give up his now enjoyable job
