Avian had said yesterday that Tess said he gave bad packing advice though. So it's still possible mods and staff do exist in this world since Tess does.

Avian also mentions his 'guests' in todays post! Obviously we are users and we exist in the world, so the staff probably do too.

It could potentially be useful though, since now we need to find someone who asks for kelp, shells, and wood, or two pets who ask for a combination of those.

Yeah, imagine how anti-climactic it would be for a lot of users if it was suddenly revealed the SIMON THE CS MODERATOR COMMITTED THE CRIME

I bet you that plenty of help tickets would come rolling in asking "who the heck is Simon what does he have to do with anything in the event" hahaha remember that we've got a ton of people who aren't active on the forums or aren't super active on CS to begin with! (That's why a higher percentage of token trade-in animals than monthly adopts and free event adopts are rare.)

whereas if Squiddy or Totoro or Calamari or Shelly or another event NPC did it, then every CS user who sees the big reveal would also fully understand "ohh okay so this character in the event did it"

Okay. I've finished the theory about who I think is the culprit.
So, it was the baby lion.
Her motive? Her mama keeps ignoring her/telling her not to do things. She could have broken the instruments to ruin the jamboree and get mama's attention. Mama may be hosting the jamboree so without all of the work she'd have time for her baby. Another motive is looking at the "pretty things". She could have thought the instrument was pretty and accidentally broke them somehow, or purposefully tried to steal them but failed.
Going by Cuttler's evidence list, the crime-doer would need a key to the jamboree. Baby lion is a princess, she would definitely know where to get a key/already had one.
An anonymous person claims they have seen flashes of red by the instruments. It's pretty obvious this is a RED herring (haha) alluding to the dragon or the chef. But I think that's too obvious. Baby lion could have brought one of her toys (one of them is red and orange!), or more likely has put in a false tip framing someone else when she realized what bad thing she did.
The tentacle marks could have simply been Cuttler investigating and leaving evidence accidentally, or baby lion thought ahead to the likeliest suspects and used tentacles as a red herring.
I also have a lot of reasons as to why Chef Calamari couldn't have done it, or at least is an extreme red herring. First, the tentacles on him are on his head. He wouldn't have slammed his head on the ground if he was planning to destroy instruments and ruin the jamboree. That would be pretty suspect. Plus there was a flash of red apparently, and his mane is more maroon-purple. He also seems to care a lot about his job, so why would he risk it so much?
Also, Baby lion sold her COUSINS to us. For toys to help her commit the crime unnoticed (she could have disguised herself!)
TLDR: Baby lion did it for attention and love. (Oh my tree what am I doing with my life??)
