I already get an unfair amount of attention on my posts just for being me

How do you choose the new events? Do you have a sort of poll between staff members?

I absolutely love fanfiction and it's been a huge part of my life for almost 10 years now. In fact, I actually learned english by reading fanfics XD. I used to read stories in a brazilian fanfiction site called Nyah!, and at some point my fandom had no updates or new stories whatsoever for weeks. I was dying from boredom and desperate to read something, anything new... and then I noticed that my fandom had updates in the english boards of FF.net nearly every hour. In my desperation, I decided to pull out an english dictionary and try reading some of them... and I was hooked right then and there. In a matter of 3 months I was almost fluent already.
It frustrates me how underrated and even mocked this medium is, because many incredibly talented writers actually put lots of work into their projects and manage to create wonderful, publisher-worthy stories. Heck, the best story I've ever read, even counting published book series, was actually a fanfic I read a few years ago that still blows my mind to this day. I also know several great writers that found their passion for writing through fanfiction and nowadays got to publish their own novels, it's quite a great way to get started for bigger projects.
I read fanfics of multiple fandoms nearly every day(mainly Sonic and HTTYD nowadays), but I've written several myself too. Back in the day I used to write Teen Titans fanfics and publish them in that same brazilian site, it was lots of fun and I learned a lot about writing this way, I even got to write a story over 100 pages long at some point. I've written a few private oneshots as well, and I actually have an ongoing Sonic fanfiction right now. Unfortunately it's been on a hiatus due to a writer's block, but hopefully I'll be able to continue it soon ^^.

The lone wanderer. So tired, so miserable.
All but a mere shadow of an once vibrant soul.
Cursed by fate, burdened by sorrow.
Sentenced to a life of nothing but loneliness...
It looks like not everyone deserves a happy ending, after all.

Do you make your own sig?
Yes, but I'm not big on coding. I tend to prefer small simple stuff and that doesn't require much coding. Its actually bigger than normal right now cause I wanted to include the one piece of art ^^

I was always big on dragons instead of wolves sorry

Will the CS store ever return? I just found some super old stickers I got back in like 2013/2014 but now that I have an income I would totally buy sooo much more :) just curious is all!
I don't know if it'll ever come around again, but the last time it opened was
November in 2015, so it has opened more than once. Whether it would again would be up to Tess and Nick though.
UmaMeep wrote:Do you guys have pet snakes on the website? I've seen spiders but no snakes... Makes me bummed lol. :(
No snakes sorry! There are several litters of pets based off of snakes though (this months ponies for one). I'd love to see snakes too, but unfortunately I can't say that most of the userbase would like them.
AphroditesTears wrote:to Tess:
Why'd you name the site Chicken Smoothie??
This is Tess' previous explanation for the site's name ^^
Tess wrote:I think CS started around April 2008, but it was called Silent Wolf Kennelz (SWK) for the first month or two because it was a different website back then (a fan site for the Ubi Soft/P.F. Magic 'Petz' game series). I was hosting it on the chickensmoothie.com domain name even when it was called SWK because 'chickensmoothie' used to be my username, and after a while I just named the site after the domain so I could get rid of the SWK title (it embarrassed me) this is why the site's name has nothing to do with the content
For the first couple of months there was no unique pet codes assigned to pets you adopted, so it was impossible to prove ownership of any pet. We added unique adoption codes in July, and some of those pets were later added to accounts when we introduced the account system sometime later (I don't remember when that was, I guess maybe August or September)
SWK itself probably started in around 2003/2004 I think... but it was a very small website with only a few regular visitors and has nothing to do with the current site (apart from the brief period that the two websites were connected). SWK went extinct when I decided to specialize only in adoptables, probably about 6 or 7 months after CS started. CS was like a parasite on SWK, slowly growing until it took over completely
