Weather Report: Fall has arrived! The air is crisp but not yet chilly as the leaves in the trees begin to change colors. A lot of prey is out prepping for the oncoming winter. Dogs will be more likely to find prey and loners looking for a place to stay won't be as frequent. Watch out for predators getting a little too curious! Humans looking to hunt boar and deer are in surplus so dogs need to watch their feet for hunter traps.

"What? You want to fight me? What for?" Alvena growled at Troy who had just told her to get ready.

"To show you my strength, that I am the alpha." Troy barked almost happily as he looked around at the stunned faces of his pack.

Alvena narrowed her eyes at the brute "I thought Fae's are not good at fighting. You said we would never have to." she was still growling.

"Yeah but I asked the ancestors to send a mate that can hold her own if she had to. So I am sure you know how to fight." Troy taunted "Now enough chatting like a group of faes and fight me already." he insisted.

That done it, Alvena was now ready for this fight, she had enough of this arrogant mate of hers and she lunged at him. Just as she was about to grab for one of his paws she felt his teeth sink into her shoulder and she let out a loud yelp. She turned and bit at his face but it didn't even seem to bother him as he pulled away and took a snap at her neck. The two continued to fight like this in front of the group of dogs for what seemed like hours until Troy had the now bloody female pinned to the ground, whimpering.

The alpha bent down and whispered "Told you I am strong." into his mate's ear. When she flinched away a look of confusion crossed him and he let her up then. He turned away from her and looked at Markus "Help her." he barked the command "The rest of you, I want you out on patrols, training, what ever it is just get it done." No one ignored his command either, especially after what he had just done.

Troy turned back to Alvena to help her up but she just growled at him and that made him stop, he had no idea he had done something wrong. "Get away from me." the fae whispered to him as she got up on her own and limped away with Markus who looked over her wounds once they were in his den. Troy grumbled to himself and trotted after Kalven to join him on the patrol.

"Three healthy, one sickly and two stillborn. What did I do wrong?" Shiver whimpered to herself. Butch had just left her alone with the four pups as he went to bury the stillborn females. Only one fae left, the runt, the sickly puppy. Markus told her to keep her warm and let him know right away if there was any sign that something went wrong. The new pup-mother shook her head and pushed the bad thoughts away "You all will make it, just you wait."

"They will be fine Shiver..." Butch murmured as he entered the den. The large male nudged his pups closer to her and she curled around them to keep them all warm. "Troy won't let me stay all the time but today I will keep you company and help keep the den warm at least. Now get some rest and don't worry about anything." he ordered her. Shiver was to tired to rebel against him, not to mention she was scared of him sometimes already, so she just did as he said and slowly fell asleep.

chance is healed and can now leave camp!
alvena's wounds need sweet-sedge to ensure they don't get infected. she also needs cobwebs. poppyseeds aren't required but they would help her make it through the pain.
the smell of alvena's blood brought two foxes near camp. the sight of butch & chance kept them at bay but they're likely still in the territory.

Trenton waited patiently for his group to gather around him to hear the things he had to say. "Aspen is now old enough to become an irontooth." He announced proudly. The young she-dog giggled excitedly, kneading at the ground. "Aspen, come up here." He called. Aspen nodded and hurried forward to stand in front of him.

"Aspen, you were our first tenderpaw." Trenton began, his chest swelling with pride. "And you will be the first dog here to be promoted to irontooth. So Aspen, will you join the ranks of the Ironteeth and fight everything, be it dog or not, to protect those in this kennel who cannot protect themselves?"

"I do!" Aspen chirped, her tail wagging excitedly.

"Then by the powers I have been bestowed by our ancestors, I welcome you as a full member of our kennel." Trenton called out. "A new howl has joined the others that echo in our caverns." He howled. The other ironteeth gathered below them threw their head backs and joined in on the howl.

Kai frowned,somehow delighted to see this fae,he tried to get close,but Adalia snapped and stepped back.

A few hours later,they somehow agreed to go hunting together,Loki,suspious,sent Benjamin and Duci to go patrolling,and keeping an eye on them,just in case.

EDIT ;; As Loki stared out his den,he saw that the leaves were turning orange,which could only mean one thing,it was fall.He smiled and sighed with delight,before venturing to the same cliff he did earlier when he met Duci,the beautiful fae.He sat down and closed his eyes,leaves falling down behind him as he said these words ; ''Oh,ancestors,you've protected my humble pack for so long,and now I want someone from the stars to be a loyal and trustworthy shaman.'' he swished his tail.

The new dog was certainly a welcome addition, especially in Juniper's eyes. He was charismatic and kind, and Juniper was afraid she was developing a crush. Not good. Not good at all. She never believed that he would ever return any affections, so she tried to ignore it and treated him as a friend. Again being left in charge of camp by Rerria, who'd gone to request another irontooth, she found that they needed to go hunting. The prey pile was getting low again. She grabbed everyone, except Byran who'd vanished without telling anyone where he was going, and took them out on a hunt.

"Ok, we want to try and catch some bigger prey so let's not wander off. Today, I think we should hunt as a group." she declared, checking the faces of Achilles and Kierat for approval although she didn't need it. They nodded, and Kierat said, "Good idea." Trying to look stern, she nodded and went to stand between them. "Stand in row formation. We'll clear the ground as one group." And so they started to scan the area for any signs of prey.

Nessie, Ace & Lucian trotted along the edges of the territory, eyes peeled for anything. "It seems that the rain's dying down." Lucian said good-naturedly, earning him a smile from the beta and his sibling.
"Good, I don't think any of us would've liked to deter the cold for much longer." She replied to him, her tail wagging as she looked out, seeing that the rain had now come to a complete stop. She lifted her head, tilting her muzzle upwards and smelling the air.
Lucian watched her, his own silver muzzle turning upwards to smell the freshness of the departing rain. "Smells nice, doesn't it?"
"Sure does." Ace replied to him, voice muffled by the trout he was holding.
Nessie tipped her head, nodding slightly in agreement before turning around. "You two go back to camp and drop off the food and then go for another round. If Apollo's their then tell him that you've passed the test with flying colours." She told the two, grinning as Lucian shook his short tail in a wiggling motion as Ace began to trot away out of sight.
"Sounds great!" The weimeraner said, beginning to move before turning around for a moment as Nessie spoke up once more,
"Maybe we can go on a patrol again soon to congratulate you." She said to him with a warm smile, then moving in the opposite direction of him to go on her patrol alone. The border collie wasn't exactly sure why she asked that, though knew it definetly wasn't just because he had passed the test..

Once the pair returned to camp, they saw both Apollo and another, unfamiliar dog talking, heads dipped down to talk in hushed conversation. Ace murmured something under his breath, and then raised his voice to cough, addressing himself and Lucian. The two dogs lifted their heads, slightly startled. Apollo smiled and lifted himself to his haunches.
"Zariana, meet Lucian and Ace, our irontooth's of the pack." Apollo introduced, Acs & Lucian both murmuring their hellos. Apollo then opened his maw to speak once more, "This is Zariana, our shaman. We crossed paths while I was patrolling, and I could just tell she had some knowledge about herbs." He said warmly, grinning at them.
"Hello." The female greeted, her voice warm and seemed to have a slightly exotic accent to it. "I'd love to introduce myself further to the kennel, though I was just talking about going out and collecting some herbs before it becomes too cold and hard to find them as easily." She dipped her head before lifting herself to her paws and trotting away.
Apollo turned his head to look at the males in front of him, seeing them drop a trout and rabbit into the prey pile. "Alright guys, how about we go for another round of hunting? The rain's stopped so theirs ought to be some more prey out." The alpha said to them before quickly leading them out of the camp and into more prey-infested areas.

"get away from him now, rigel!" arcturus growled lowly. rigel looked shocked for a mere moment before a smug smile grew on her face. she walked past arcturus and into the camp, the small naos cowering in the eyes of arcturus. arcturus, however, simply stared. the alpha sat confused for a mere moment before turning to his beta.

"you're such a jealous little pup, and it's so easy for anyone with eyes to see such." rigel spoke slowly embarrassing her superior directly. arcturus growled lowly storming out of the camp. naos and the two sibings sat dumbly before rigel. rigel eyed them each before softly speaking. "australis, go herb bunting please." the small brute nodded and trotted off into the forest. once the corgi had disappeared she turned her yes onto the lottatore's. "go out on a hunting patrol. arcturus and I will catch up with you once he clams down, then we'll all go on a border patrol." naos nodded swiftly and began to pad off, borealis sat for a moment looking at rigel.

"rigel voto? what about the fox scent naos had mentioned you had picked up on the last patrol?" the small fae asked quietly.

rigel smiled looking down on the corgi, "we're an okay-sized patrol, should it come near us we can take it down swiftly." rigel's words seemed to brighten the corgi's mood as she stood with a relieved look and followed after naos who was awaiting her at the edge of the camp. rigel waited for the two dogs to be out of sight before stalking off in the direction of arcturus.

it took the fae a long time before she finally caught up with the angry brute. he turned on her teeth bared as soon as he'd caught her scent. she jumped back, genuinely shocked at his outburst. "what is wrong with you, rigel?" he growled. all shreds of what rigel had teased since their first meeting had come together forming the dog before her. rigel's ears lowered as her tail went between her legs. she could finally see the cruel dog beneath the scared pup, her heart broke a little for him. she stayed still letting him slowly circle her. he moved his face close enough to hers to the point where she could feel his hot breath. "you sure don't seem talkative now." he snapped, a small chuckle escaping his maw before he began walking off once more. rigel knew the direction he was going in, slightly worried she carefully followed. her nose smelling the scent as it grew stronger and stronger.

"tell me voto, where are we going?" he stated, it was a rhetorical question.

"arcturus, stop, you're scaring me." she confessed softly. the alpha turned back to her a smug look on his face, the words bringing joy to him. "please, this isn't you. it's the monster i created, now let's return to camp, please!" she begged, trotting closer to the crazed brute. he refused to look at her this time. he sped up slightly and kept his cold eyes on the forest as they neared the spot of the fox. rigel stopped in her tracks, she was trembling fear in her eyes as the brute neared the spot.

the fox seemed to smell arcturus as it showed it's face from it's burrow. the fox bared it's teeth as arcturus neared, rigel shuddered in fear and cowered behind a tree.

it seemed like it was hours later, but it'd only been over the course of a few minutes. the fae slowly, fearfully opened her eyes to spot the fox missing and the brute slumped on the ground. she hurried to him her eyes watering ever so slightly. "you stupid, stupid brute. i told you not to and now look at you!" she cried as she slumped over him. she licked the side of his maw gently and sat back. "i-i'm so sorry, i caused you death. it's all my fault!" the words seemed to revive him as his mouth turned up into a soft smile. the fae took a step back and watched as the life seemed to return in him.

"i have nine lives rigel, one little fox can't kill me neither can a beautiful fae." he teased as he moved to his paws. rigel scoffed, rolling her eyes before moving towards him and curling herself next to him. "i'm sorry about what happened earlier, he just wanted out." rigel eyed him curiously as arcturus used the term he when speaking of himself but ignored it as she breathed in his scent. "i-i actually wanted to ask, if you might grace me by being my mate." rigel smiled and gently nodded.

the two dogs had spent hours together before returning to the camp. australis had already arrived in the camp and had eagerly patched up the alpha before letting him and rigel walk off into the woods to finish the hunting patrol and begin the border patrol.

Speak to the Stars: July 31st

The Northern Stars consume 1 mouse and 1 hare (3 servings).

Daisy worriedly licks Eagle, hoping Parker finds the herbs needed to keep the young pup alive. The pup mother wasn't ready to lose another pup so quickly, it was already hard enough to see one of her pups stillborn. "Oh please stay strong little one..." she whispered.

Parker continues his search, hoping to find some feverfew along the way. He knew the runt would be prone to fevers and was at risk of dying. "I know the ancestors are watching over us, but I will do all that I can to help provide the pack with future generations." the shaman said to himself.

Bandit and Azalea come across the scent of badgers, marking the area. Bandit sniffed the air, noticing Kodiak had marked the area as well. "They seem to be in this general area... When we get back I'll inform the alpha." This received a nod from the smaller female, before the pair kept walking.

Bandit would glance down at his friend frequently as they walked through the woods. Azalea had been with him for almost all his life. For the longest time they only had one another. Over time the male developed strong feelings for the shy and sweet female. However Bandit never grew the guts to say anything to her. Azalea stopped to smell some flowers, her tail swishing happily from side to side. Bandit gulped, picking one of the flowers and putting it behind Azalea's ear. The female smiled up at the male and gave a lick on the cheek, sending butterflies through out Bandit's body.

With another gulp the male pawed at the ground before clearing his throat. "Azalea..." he managed to choke out. Azalea lifted her head, looking Bandit in the eyes. "Yes?" she spoke softly.

"Well.... um... We have known each other for some moons now... I was... I was..." The male stammered. Azalea let out a happy yip and licked Bandit once more, her tail swishing even faster now. "Yes! I'll be your mate." she barked.

The pair nuzzled one another, breathing in each other's scents. Bandit was a bit cocky from time to time, but Azalea balanced him out. She was sweet, kind, and gentle. One day she would make an excellent mother to their future pups.

Upon finishing their training Kodiak praised Korra, proud that his tenderpaw was picking things up quickly. "Well done Korra! Come, lets put your hunting skills to use. Show me what you have learned." Korra barked happily before nodding her head and following her mentor. Together Kodiak and Korra went on another hunting patrol. After their hunt Kodiak lets his tenderpaw rest while he goes to ask the ancestors for a strong irontooth.

Nevermore Kennel

Ragnarok stalked the rabbit carefully, hopeful for his second kill of the night before he returned to camp.
Suddenly, a large black blur came charging out of the trees opposite him and jumped onto the rabbit. There was a terrified squeal before all went silent. Ragnarok, outraged that a stranger was hunting on his land, stalked forward with a threatening growl.

"Who are you and what are you doing here?" He snarled at the large black dog in front of him.

"Obviously, I just killed my dinner." The other dog said with his teeth bared, "Who wants to know?"

"Ragnarok, leader of Nevermore Kennel." He growled as he stood to his full height.

The other dog may be bigger in girth then Ragnarok, but he stood at least a foot taller. Ragnarok was starting to wonder just how much of this dog was body and what was fur.

"Nevermore? I think I heard of that one." The other dog said thoughtfully, "The name is Baldr, if you are welcoming new members i would like to join." Baldr said with a smile, "I even have this rabbit to offer?"

Ragnarok stood thinking for a moment, "Alright, we need more members."

He turned and picked up the rabbit he had caught earlier, then led Baldr back to camp. As the two were approaching the entrance, a pretty female came trotting out of the bushes towards them. Baldr stopped and stood to his full height, while Ragnarok dropped his rabbit and called to the new dog.

"Who are you and what is your purpose here?" He called to her.

"My name is Yggdrasil, I was sent by the Ancestors to find Rangarok of Nevermore. I can offer my services as a shaman." the female said as she carefully approached the pair.

"Thank goodness that my prayers were answered. Please follow us and I will show you were you will sleep.
My name is Ragnarok, and this is Baldr." Ragnarok said as he led the two new dogs into camp.

He went to bed that night thinking about how truly lucky he was to have not only gotten the Shaman that he had asked for, but to also find another capable Irontooth to help as well.

~THE NEXT DAY~

Ragnarok awoke with a start, a snarl starting to form on his lips before he remembered where he was. He shook himself as he got up and walked out into camp.

"...and that was how I successfully fought off a bear single-pawed!" Baldr was saying to Yggdrasil as Ragnarok approached.

"Hello, sir. What shall we do today?" Yggdrasil asked as she bowed to Ragnarok.

"You should go hunt for herbs, while I go patroling for more dogs. Baldr, please go hunting and keep your eyes open for anyone that could potentially join us." Ragnarok said as he left camp with the other two on his heels.

[Ragnarok is patroling, searching for other dogs.]
[Baldr is hunting]

Swinging Blades Kennel

The Swinging Blades Kennel has gotten their name by their fighting and hunting style. They rely on teamwork to and curved movements to constantly give blows until their enemy is tired and weakened. They are a standoffish kennel who resides primarily in the low valley. The territory is surrounded by mountains and forests. The kennel primarily sleeps under the open sky of the valley but, in winter, reside in a den located in the forest on the edge of their territory.
The Swinging Blades alpha is a medium-sized older male named Kota. Kota may not be the largest or most fierce dog, but he relies on his wits to get him through tough situations. He developed a unique fighting style by watching the blades of grass sway. Constant movement combined with repeated blows from others is how the grass combats the sky. He hopes to pass on his teachings to a newer generation of dogs by creating his own kennel.

Loki had turned and then saw a gentle shaman looking at him ''have you seen my brother?'' she asked desperately with a frown ,she then tilted her head as if someone has told her something,and quickly gasped and bowed down,shivering.''Oh,alpha.I have came here to be your trustworthy shaman until the end of me.'' she told him,as Loki smiled gratefully ''follow me,miss..uh?'' Loki ignored her previous question ''Basil.'' she replied,still frowning and looking around.

As the two came back,they noticed a small pup called Mckenzie sitting stiffly beside Kai ''Alpha,we have found this pup our way back from our patrol.'' Loki looked down gently with a smile,then looked at Basil ''Duci,take Mckenzie for training practice,Basil,may you take this pup on a hunt for herbs after Duci finishes?''

When Duci finished,Loki went up to her with his natural,bored limp.''Hey,Duci,Basil's been very...Sad about her brother lately,maybe go out to look for him?He'll probably ask you if you've seen her.'' Duci smirked,nodded and padded away,but before she did,she brushed against her alpha in a flirty manner,Loki couldn't help but blush.

As Duci went back to camp after the patrol [succesful or not],she hears a howl for help,Adalia.She was laying in her den,panting and snapping at Kai with aggresion ''pups??'' Kai asked with a gulp,whilst Adalia growled viciously ''what do you think?!?!'' ''Basil!'' he howled for the healer.Loki heard this commotion and quickly turned to Benjamin and Duci ''please go on a patrol,we need this fae to be safe.''

"Lily is expecting." Boom announced proudly, standing outside of the den where Lily sat, smiling slightly. "Well good for you." Bullet spat, pacing around in a circle, looking downwards. Gabriel was sitting near Bullet, giving Boom a half smile. Ricochet was biting into a vole, before glancing up at Boom and nodding a bit before going back to eating his vole. Boom was quite upset with his pack's unenthusiastic behavior towards his supposedly cheerful news. Boom frowned before climbing down into the hole-den and sitting comfortably beside Lily. "I wish the pack was more excited." Boom sighed, letting Lily lean affectionately against Boom's side. "It's not that big of a deal. At least we'll be the parents of the most beautiful pups in the world." Lily mentioned. Boom nodded his head in agreement. "I'm excited to be a father, but sorta scared." Boom confessed, staring down at the bare, dirt floor. "It's all right. I feel the same," Lily replied, as she stopped leaning on Boom and laying down. "I mean, to be a mother. "Not a father." She added as soon as she laid down. Boom laughed a bit. "I'll go ask our Alpha something real quick. Stay here." Boom commanded, getting up. "It's not like I going anywhere." Lily laughed. "True." Boom replied, laughing a bit as well. "All right. Gotta go talk to him now. Bye, Lily."

Once he got out of the den, Boom saw Bullet sitting down on a pile of leaves, staring off into the distance. "Hello, Alpha." Boom barked, bowing. Bullet noticed him, and narrowed his eyes. "Since when did you get so fancy upon meeting me?" Bullet asked, in a sort of mockingly way. Boom shrugged. "That's not really important. But is it all right if I stay behind and protect Lily until she has her pups? Like, I can't really do patrols anymore since I want Lily and her future pups to be safe." Boom asked hopefully. "What? What.. did you say?" Bullet snarled, getting up on all fours, and staring at Boom right in the face. "No. NO. You still have to go on patrols, Boom. Just because your mate there is expecting pups, doesn't mean you get to slack off." Bullet growled, twitching his tail in anger. "No! I didn't mean it like that!" Boom shouted, frowning. "Even so, I'll be making you go on a border patrol yourself, right now." Bullet demanded, giving Boom an icy cold stare. Boom backed up a bit, trembling. "Y..yes.. all right. Okay, Alpha." Boom agreed with a scared nod. "Good. Now off you go. Go get Ricochet to go with you." Bullet added.

A few moments after what happened with Boom and Bullet, Gabriel slowly approached Bullet with a tiny frown. "What happened with you and Boom?" She asked softly, going to Bullet's side. Bullet glanced up at Gabriel. "Boom and Lily. There." Bullet mumbled, then looking down at the ground. "You got to be more specific than that." Gabriel shook her head with a roll of her eyes, then playfully nudging Bullet. Bullet sighed. "I got mad at Boom for wanting to protect Lily since she's expecting pups. I guess I kinda took it as him wanting to slack off and not doing any patrols, so I sent him to do a border patrol with Ricochet," Bullet explained. "I feel guilty now, since I bet I would've wanted to do the same." Bullet admitted, looking up at Gabriel and seeing her face. The first thing Bullet would always notice about Gabriel was her gorgeous brown eyes. Bullet found them awfully pretty. "You should apologize, I guess. I mean, don't be too apologetic. You'll just sound ridiculous if you were sobbing in front of Boom and begging for forgiveness." Gabriel advised, half jokingly. "Like I'd ever do that." Bullet muttered, but he still let out a chuckle. "I guess when he comes back, I can apologize." "Good, good." Gabriel nodded. "I guess we should go on a hunting patrol. It'd be kinda risky to leave Lily by herself, but hopefully with our protected dens, she should be fine." Bullet barked. "But let's go."

Troy sat in camp, he didn't understand why his plan didn't work. Instead of wooing Alvena it only made her worse, now she wouldn't even look at him. On top of the fight though there were some foxes! The probably smelled blood and came to investigate so he sent out the other brutes while he sat watch. Today he was going to try a different tactic and give his fae everything she wanted. Of course that made it hard because every time she moved she winced and he was right there but she ignored him.

This but Troy in a foul mood and he found himself snapping at everything and any one around him, not to mention this even made Alvena more upset. So for now Troy put himself in a time out and sat away from his pack, with a slight slump as if he was pouting.

Shiver watched her pups sleep, that seems to be all they have been doing and she was fine with that. They all seemed happy and healthy and she was thankful for that. After checking them over one last time she left the den and went to join Alvena who was just outside "You alright?" Shiver asked her.

"Just hurting, Markus said the infection has gone but it is still tender and it hurt when I move." Alvena complained. "Why is he such an air head brute? Why was he chosen to be my mate?" she muttered.

"I have got to hear how you received the dream, how did you find out Troy was to be your mate?" Shiver couldn't help but ask.

"Well, I use to live in a group before I came here. Only the alphas could have pups and I found myself wanting my own. So I prayed and wished for the ancestors to help me out. They first lead me here and then I saw Troy and something told me he was mine. Though I am now finding myself wanting to send him back." She chuckled "I won't stay mad at him long but I want him to change his attitude some." she mumbled.

"Good luck with that." Shiver chuckled.

Trenton bent his head down, sniffing at the blood trail then looked over at the sprung fox trap. Orlando was standing several pawlengths down the blood trail, looking around. "We need to find whoever got hurt." Trenton ordered, trotting over to the irontooth. Orlando nodded in agreement. "Let's go." The long-legged dog started following the blood trail, desperate to find the injured dog.

Florence slowly walked out of the nursery, looking back over her shoulder as her litter followed her out. Since she had given birth to them, Florence had kept them hold up in the nursery, not wanting her pups to go outside. The beta had feared that she would lose them like she had with her two stillborn sons.

Victoria, Aspen and Verona crossed the clearing to join Florence and her three pups. "They've gotten so big." Victoria cooed, looking fondly at the three pups as they explored the camp. Carolina, the white and grey borzoi, pounced on Juno, the brindled borzoi. Juno let out a loud squeak, batting at her sister and trying to scurry away from her. Kent, the black shepherd mix, shot his sisters an annoyed look before trotting back to Florence, pressing close against her legs.

Deimos padded through the forest briskly, his ears pricked and eyes alert. The forest was still sleeping when he left camp, alone. So, some group of loners thinks that they can just waltz onto his border and start causing trouble? He let out a gruff snort at the notion. He wouldn't let those sniveling dogs into his territory. No way!
The determined irontooth kept his nose to the ground as he navigated the dark territory. Eventually, he reached the border where the newest irontooth another of Cronus's sons named Eros had been found yesterday.
He could still smell the smokey smell that clung to the dog's pelt. Deimos lifted his head and peered into the darkness. The shadows remained undisturbed until a pair of eyes suddenly appeared within them. Deimos yelped when a dog leaped and bowled him over, pinning him to the ground. His muzzle hit the dirt and he struggled to reach behind him and bite at the intruder's neck, but the claws digging into his shoulder made him cease.
"Felling brave, kennel rat?" A dark voice hissed in his ear. "Bravery and stupidity are one in the same." Deimos forced himself to stay calm as the scent of carrion filled his nose. The intruder continued to speak. "Here is what is going to happen. I know you and your kennel have taken in my father and my soft-belly brother, and that is alright with me, but here's the deal. Me and my rouges are going to stick around the East border for a while and hunt to our heart's content. This will not reach your alpha's ears, understand? If patrols start snooping around, I'll send them back to your camp," the claws dug in deeper, "in pieces. Do you understand?"
Deimos said nothing and let out a whimper. The claws suddenly disappeared, along with the weight that had been on his back. The mix breed jumped up just in time to see a dark tail disappear into the darkness.

"Deimos and I will hunt along the South border today." Bello said, shaking a distracted Deimos out of his thoughts. He jerked his head up to look at the beta, who glanced at him curiously. "Are you alright, Deimos?"
"Yes, yes, I'm fine." He replied, feeling the eyes of his curious kennel mates burning into him. Or maybe it was the small scratches that were hidden under his chestnut pelt. Either way, it stung him.
Bello was not convinced of this but shook his broad head and turned to Anteros, Nike, Athena and Eros. Eros stood tall next to his new friends, his tail swishing behind him. "The rest of you shall patrol the West and East borders."
"No!" Deimos barked immediately, his eyes wide in fear. Bello cocked his head and he cleared his throat. "Not the East border. That one was patrolled yesterday. They should focus on the West border today." He replied calmly, though his heart was pounding in his chest. He couldn't risk it. Not Anteros.
Bello lifted his head and fixed the irontooth with a look that made him cower. "Fine." He said, his gaze not wavering, "Just the West today."
