/////”I don’t get it.” Aruhe blinked, gaze flickering uncertainly between Kanuka, Mouku and Niko. Kanuka still looked weak from the birth: odd specks of blood matted her pelt; her once lively eyes were glassy, empty. She was trying to be a mother, Aruhe noticed, as the new queen nosed her bundle of kits close to her stomach to nurse, grooming their pelts tenderly. It was more than could be said for Mouku, who refused to look at the kits with anything more than a hardened glare. He would visit to check on Kanuka’s wounds and the health of the kits, but he refused to show his sons and daughters any affection. It was Aruhe’s theory that the mending vulpe was harbouring a grudge for Kanuka’s loss of lives, but then the white-coated vixen didn’t like to believe Mouku capable of such ill-will. ”What’s in it for you?” She questioned sharply as her thoughts snapped back to the presence, staring incredulously at Niko. Aruhe inched closely to Kanuka, wary and protective.
/////Niko’s head cocked to the side, a bemused expression flashing briefly over him. ”Relax. I’m… otherwise inclined,” he reassured vaguely, again smirking at the look of shocked understanding that Aruhe was unable to hide. He wouldn’t say it aloud, but becoming Kanuka’s ‘mate’ – by title, only – saved him from a level of awkwardness he wasn’t sure others in the skulk were ready for, not yet. ”I just want to help my leader,” he told the vixen instead, his words soft as his gaze washed over his new, apparent, family. He had always wanted kits…

/////Miro rested his head on his paws, an oddly gentle look in his eyes that Kanuka had never seen in him before. Two of her kits, Tairo and Kaho (the most boisterous of the tods), took joy in batting at the scout’s muzzle and ears, testing how far they could go before getting a reaction from the older tod. It was when one of Tairo’s small claws caught Miro in the corner of the eye that the fox squeaked, gingerly cuffing the kit away from him. Kaho let out a squeak of laughter as his brother was rolled away, making himself the next target of Tairo’s attacks.
/////”They’re wonderful kits,” Miro murmured thoughtfully with an amused smile, watching the two brothers play. The remaining three of the litter were curled in the warmth of Kanuka’s side, sleeping through their siblings’ play.
/////”Thank you, Miro,” Kanuka said, a flicker of pride brightening her eyes.
/////”They have your coat, Niko,” Miro commented, unable to keep the slight sarcasm from his tone as he eyed the greyness in Peoi, Kamu and Kaho’s coats. His gaze trailed the flash of grey as Mouku slunk from the cave, no doubt to retrieve more herbs to tend to Kanuka with.
/////Niko blinked, nuzzling into Kanuka’s neck as Mouku had advised him to do. ”My father was a grey.” The lie rolled of his tongue without falter, encouraging a nod from the scout. Miro didn’t believe the story that was being told to him, of Niko and Kanuka’s secret courtship and troubled pregnancy (hence Kanuka’s absence in the last two moons), but he would go along with it for the sake of the skulk. His skulk-mates could be horribly superstitious; he wasn’t sure a romance between their leader and their mending vulpe would go down well.
/////”Inaka and I are going hunting. I’ve told Kai and Aruhe to check the borders,” Miro eventually informed, gathering himself to his paws. Niko nodded his thanks, having completely forgotten to organise the tasks for the day. ”Motherhood suits you, Kanuka,” the tod smiled, regaining the cheeky glint in his eyes as he stepped forward to nose his leader’s cheek. In spite herself, the vixen giggled, nipping at Miro’s tail as the scout dodged away, carefully stepping over the tumbling kits.

Flaming Pearl woke up with the rising sun, as she normally did, and stretched out where she lay. She got up and looked around the old chicken coop that she had turned into a den site. She walked out the entrance and looked around.
She knew that today was going to be a good day by how it looked in the sky.

She trotted quickly to visit the Stars, arriving just a little before mid-morning.

"Beautiful Stars that light the sky, please hear my cry! I ask that you please send me a strong and loyal Scout to help me fix up my territory!" Pearl said as she turned away with a bow and headed back for home.

Along the way, she figured she would visit one of her favorite hunting spots to see if she could find anything interesting.

the skulk of covered moon is stealthy, honorable and just. they have a spiritual connection stronger than others, and they are very set in their ways. to the north of them is a meadow that stretches as far as the eye can see, while the rest of their territory is dense forest with streams twisting around. foxes that are mostly white are considered blessed by the moon itself, while darker foxes are outsiders. covered moon will butt into almost any argument and give them their opinion, even if it was not asked for.

The stars answer Cody's call, sending a mending vulpe to him. Cody creates the new arrival, his tail swishing happily back and forth. "Greetings! I am Cody. I thank you for answering the stars calling. You shall provide a great help to this growing skulk." he smiles.

Cinder chuckles a bit, amused by her new leader's personality. "Greetings Cody, I am Cinder. I'm glad my medical knowledge will be put to good use. I only wish to make sure our growing family may remain healthy. I'll do my best."

Number of Foxes: one vixen, zero todds

moonbeam walked through the meadow, her eyes bright with untold excitement. finally, the beginning of her own skulk. since she was youg, she knew she was destined to be a leader. she felt it in her bones, thrumming in her blood. it was her time, the moon had blessed her, everything was as it should be. it was time. she lifted her muzzle and called out, "oh skies above, please give me a new member of my skulk. someone i can rely on, either a second or a mender. thank you." she then laid down and closed her eyes, her head resting on her paws.

Upon his successful catch, Cody lets out a happy yip, his tail swishing back and forth. His skulk was slowly beginning to thrive. Prey was plump, but scarce. Cody was determined to catch as much as he could with in the next few days to help get ready for the worse days to come. Along his way back the male spotted another fox standing at the border patiently. As the lead fox drew closer the other fox, stepped forwarded.

"Greetings. I am Big Red.... I have traveled a little ways in search of a skulk to join. Along the way I heard rumors about the Falling Blossoms and since then I set out to find them." The male explained.

Cody set his catch down and looked the other male up and down before speaking. "I am Cody, the leader of the Falling Blossoms. Are you interested in joining per chance then?"

This caused the other male to nod, a small smile on his face. "Yes."

Cody picked up his prey and motioned with his tail for the other fox to follow him. Big Red happily followed the leader back to camp waiting for Cody to speak. Cody dropped his prey in a secure sheltered area before turning to his new scout. "Well Cinder, our medic must be out gathering herbs still. While she does that we shall go gather more prey."

Number of Foxes: one vixen, one todd

moonbeam opened her eyes to see yellow ones staring back at her, and she yelped in surprise, scrambling backwards. the todd in front of her huffed in amusement, his eyes sparkling. "you haven't changed a bit, have you moonbeam?" he asked her with a easy smile, and moonbeams heart lept in her throat. "c-crater?" she stammered, then squealed in delight when he nodded. "oh, i've missed you brother!" she exclaimed, her smile only growing bigger. "so you're really my mender?" she asked eagerly, then squealing again when he confirmed it. "yes, yes! they sent me, something about keeping a certain someone out of trouble." he playfully nudged her, and she growled playfully back. "maybe they'll send celestial to us as well?" she asked, and he just shrugged. "i couldn't say. unfortunately i haven't talked to our sister in a while. well, i think i'll go look around. what about you?" he asked, and she hummed. "i should go hunting. let me know if you find anything interesting!" she said, and he nodded before walking into the forest.
