ＤＡＰＰＬＥＣＬＡＮ

Long ago, a she-cat named Leopard and her group of cats stumbled across the long-abandoned ruins of a twoleg temple in a vast, dark jungle. She deemed it the perfect place to settle a clan, and that she did, naming it Dappleclan, after the sunshine that beams through the dense leaves and dappled the rainforest floor. The clan had a peaceful time for the first several generations, then Leopardstar began haunting the clan's leader and medicine cat with a prophecy;

"The kits of the leader will save our beloved clan."

This prophecy has left Dappleclan in confusion for a long time [through eight leaders, in fact] as it has yet to be fulfilled. Whenever a leader has kits, nothing noteworthy occurred and their kits barely did anything impressive. Little does the clan know, that their long-lasting mystery is soon to be solved. The Rogue Clan captured Dappleclan's leader's four kits two moons ago, holding them ransom, wanting more territory in return. And recently, the young ones have been suffering strange dreams from Starclan. Meanwhile, Dappleclan's leader is trying to find the proper solution to the issue. Should he avoid conflict by giving the Rogue Clan cats what they want, or should he take them back by force?

ＧＥＮＥＲＡＬＩＮＦＯＲＭＡＴＩＯＮ

Dappleclan's general territory is situated in a dense rainforest, but of course, a small portion of it. The camp is located inside the ancient ruins of a temple. The camp provides an interesting set-up, having the center, the western wing, and the eastern wing. The center contains the gathering place for the clan, for when the leader calls meetings and where the deputy calls for patrols. The center of the temple also contains the den of the leader and their family. The western wing is where the queens, kits, and elders stay, as well as the medicine cat and medicine cat's apprentice. The eastern wing is where the deputy, warriors, and apprentices are set up.

There is a second, much smaller and less-organized clan of cats just outside of Dappleclan borders, where twolegs have deforested the area. This clan is made up of rogues. Although small, they have stuck around for a few generations, and have caused Dappleclan plenty of trouble over that time. They frequently pick fights with border patrols, steal prey from Dappleclan territory, and on the very rare occasion, invade camp. One would think that Dappleclan's size would help it destroy the clan of rogues, but they haven't had such luck. They are much stronger than they seem.

What is Wet Season?

Rivers are very much flooded, the ground is wet, and amphibious
or water-loving animals are seen everywhere. Most other animals
hide in trees or higher ground. It's especially humid this time of year.

What is Dry Season?
Four moons of the year where rain is minimal, allowing the land to
recover after eight moons of almost nonstop rain. Toward the end of
the season, a drought may occur, though this is rare. Most animals are
roaming about freely at this time.

Sharpstar sat perched on the mossy stone railing of the ruined temple, gazing at the depths of the rainforest that faced them. It irritated him greatly that somewhere, out there, his kits were in the paws of those dastardly rogues. By now, he would've been able to hold their apprenticeship ceremony, assigned them their mentors, and hear all about their days of training. He was pulled out of his thoughts when he felt an ache in his paws, realizing that he was pressing his claws against the stone. With a heavy sigh, he stood back up and leapt off of the railing. He would just have to put on a brave face for the clan. A decision about their actions will have to be made soon, but both options bring uncertainty. They have territory to spare, but giving the rogue clan what they want would only send a message that Dappleclan was full of pushovers. Going in by force meaning risking the lives of Dappleclan's warriors and older apprentices. It was a tough situation.

Wildkit roused from his sleep, raising his pounding head and wincing. Yet another night of restless sleep and a dream with the repeating phrase, told by a ruddy brown she-cat who introduced herself as Hollytuft. "One cat, who is quiet but loyal, will guide the clan of outsiders to safety." He squinted his green eyes, adjusting to the beam of light that entered the nursery. He and his siblings were old enough to be apprentices, yet they remained in the nursery, since it was the easiest den to guard. They were allowed to be outside of the den, only with supervision. He missed his mother and father, and the freedom to wander around Dappleclan's camp as he pleased. At least Trip was kind, and her young kits were amusing to watch play around.

Crowshadow sat alone near the entrance to the warrior den, awaiting for Eaglefeather to call for the morning patrols. Every day for the past two moons, it had been agonizing passing by the Dappleclan-Rogue clan borders- it felt like Sharpstar's stolen kits were so closed, but so far. All they can do is wait for the day that Sharpstar makes his decision and gives his orders. He personally thought that Sharpstar should send a patrol of strong fighters into those good-for-nothing rogues' camp and bring the kits back to where they belong. If they attacked such a small clan, they would send the message that Dappleclan is not to be messed with. Giving the rogues what they want is simply a bad tactic. But, he knew to keep his mouth shut. He had to trust that Sharpstar knew what was best for their clan.

Batflight padded into camp, proudly carrying three mice in her jaws. She decided to go on a hunt by herself to clear her mind a bit, and to appreciate the fact that the rain had ceased for a few moons. She loved dry season, even though the first moon of it, the ground was still soggy. The constant rain of wet season was uncomfortable, and now, they can see the sun shining through the canopy. 'Dappled sunshine,' the thing that created the name of their clan. She had to guess that their famed creator, Leopard, arrived here during the dry season, because there was no such thing as sunlight in the wet season! She smiled to herself, enjoying the moment of lighthearted thoughts during times full of tension. Unlike her brother, she wanted to resolve the issue peacefully. The clan of rogues, though not as structured as Dappleclan, resides in a largely deforested area of the rainforest, a place that lacks food. She could understand their desperation for food-filled areas, especially with kits.

Sootwing lay still in her nest, head raised as she gazes at the outside of the entrance. Some of her clanmates still lay sleeping around her, making her feel less guilty about being awake but unmoving. It was intimidating, remembering how the rogue clan cats popped into their camp almost effortlessly and stole Wildkit, Daisykit, Jackalkit, and Heatherkit. Now, there was conflict within Dappleclan. It all happened so fast. Taking a deep breath, she suppressed her worries for the time being and steadily rose up, grooming her pelt. She honestly didn't know what side to be on- peaceful resolution or forceful. She just wanted to bring those four kits back home.

Berrypaw was curled up in a tight ball, tail cutely covering her face, and remained contently snoozing away. She slept heavily, even as her fellow apprentices stirred, some even getting up and leaving the nest, not even bothering to try to wake her. It was always a challenge to get Berrypaw moving in the morning; if she had the choice, she would stay in her nest all day long, without feeling a sliver of guilt for it. Many doubted that the warrior's life was for her, but only time will tell.

Mintpaw rose his head, flicking an ear and looking slowly around the den, counting the number of empty nests. With a gaping yawn, he slowly stood up, shaking the scraps of moss off of his dark brown coat. He carefully weaved around the apprentices who were still resting in their nests, then trotted out of the apprentice den. Straight off the bat, he scanned the camp for his mentor, Bluefang. Curiosity of what today's lesson would be on nipped eagerly at his heels. Would it be something combat-related? Hunting?Dealing with terrain? He certainly hoped with all of his heart that whatever it was, it would have to do with fighting.

Serpent strode confidently across camp, his usual hints of smugness lined across his face. Two moons ago, his plan succeeded, and now Dappleclan was in turmoil, arguing about which plan of action should be taken. Whichever of the two paths they have, he was certain that his clan would be ready to take them on. But, he had to focus on the present for now. He crawled onto the large log that lay across the camp, yowling loudly. "Warriors of this fearsome clan, please gather around the log for the patrols of the sunrise!"

Siren had woken up long ago, sneaking out of the warriors den to enjoy a nice swim in the single river in the Rogue Clan's territory before it became shallow as the Dry Season progresses. As she was padding home, she heard Serpent's voice call out for a meeting, and picked up her pace significantly. She soon arrived, picking out a patch of sun to sit in, hoping it would quicken the pace in drying her thick coat.

Morning hesitantly slunk out of the warriors den at the sound of Serpent's voice, keeping her head ducked. With Sharpstar's kits being held here, her discomfort with her surroundings were increasing. She retained some faith, knowing that some of her clan mates shared her disdain of their leader's plan, but most were too afraid to speak against him. He put on a good jolly façade, but everyone knew that one misstep could show a much uglier side to him. It was intimidating, and uncomfortable walking eggshells around one's own leader. She sat tall, silently hoping that she would be called to patrol, as an excuse to get out of camp.

Bluefang

Bluefang had been up for some time at this point. Her paws had found footing in the outside world of the camp and her eyes had found prey, so had her mouth, and now she carried three iguanas by tail to the camp. Bluefang laid them down on the pile before biting the tail off of one of them. and pulling it away from the pile she laid down to eat it in quick bites, watching the clan activity begin to boom before her amber gaze.

Nero twitched his tail tip, watching the tiny kitten known as Wildkit. Well, not tiny anymore by any means, he should've been an apprentice by now. He was big enough and his kitten fluff, although still clinging to his fur, was beginning to fade. The tom got to his solid paws and approached the kitten, sizing him up and down. "You gonna be a warrior one day?" Nero questioned the little tom cat with curious eyes.
