territory. the skulk of unknown spirits has staked their claim of land in an abandoned portion of woodland territory. local folklore says this area is known for its unnatural connection to the spirit realm ─ hence why no humans cross its path. in this area, there is an abandoned log cabin, a large lake that has a river trailing the borders of the territory, and an old cemetery by the lake front. there is a cave at the lake front, where most skulk/religious meetings are held. on very special occasions, religious meetings are hosted at the graveyard. usually, the foxes make their dens either in or near the abandoned log cabin or in the cave.
reputation. these foxes are quite strange in more ways than one. for starters, their leader tends to speak mostly in riddles,
and is quite unusual in the sense that they may not be all the way there. these foxes are known for being peculiar in appearance or behavior ─ real "misfits", if you will. they tend to be laid back most of the time, but do not test them. these foxes are known to be extremely fierce fighters who are harsh in punishment. however, if a lone fox wanders into their territory with nowhere else to turn,
they will welcome them with open arms. very strange foxes, indeed.

introduction. the skulk of the gentle earth was named for it's deep love and understanding of earth and nature. the skulk believes nature is a pure thing, and try to keep away from harming it. most of the foxes are extremely kind and gentle ─ but they will fight for what the stand for. the foxes of the skulk of the gentle earth are extremely friendly; they allow foxes of any kind to join the skulk. because of this, many foxes in the skulk are not heterosexual, have scarring injuries, or something else that would usually be shunned. the skulk of the gentle earth takes all foxes who respect and love nature.
their leader. the leader of the skulk is a vixen by the name of nani. her name is derived from nature, and the hawaiian word for beauty. nani is a strong, kind leader, who will lead her skulk out of dangerous and difficult situations. but, she isn't afraid to but her paw down, and can be very stern. when under pressure, nani sometimes repeats things, something her skulk-mates are used to. nani is a fierce, kind-hearted warrior, who will fight for her skulk and nature. she is, however, a bit stubborn. it won't take a lot of it, but convincing is needed for her to change her mind sometimes.
territory. the skulk of the gentle earth made their home in a diverse area. a forest of all tree types on their north and northwest borders, sloping plains on their west border, desert on their southwest and south borders, and more forest on their southeast and east borders. their camp is at the heart of it all. located in a hollow, the skulk of the gentle earth's camp is quite large in size, and is plentiful in fresh air, water, and food. a small stream weaves through the center of the camp, splitting it in two, in a way. nani's den is located in a hollow tree trunk, which is neighbors with the mending vulpe's den, and the scout den. the pupil den, nursery, and the elder's den are opposite of the leader's den and others. the fresh-kill pile is on a small island in the middle of the stream.
the foxes. the foxes of the skulk are extremely diverse. cape foxes, red foxes, fennec foxes, and others call the skulk of the gentle earth home. the skulk is known for its kindness and peaceful atmosphere. the foxes of this skulk are usually down to earth, friendly foxes, though they aren't afraid to fight. skulk-mates look out for one another, and their love for nature brings them all together.

Nestled within a dense, deciduous forest is the Skulk of Amber Leaves. Several rivers cut through the territory, acting as the main source of water for the foxes. The skulk consists mainly of gray foxes due to their dependency on the trees. Members of the Skulk of Amber Leaves come across as charming and welcoming. Their kind, generous spirits are sure to draw anyone in. In actuality, however, they are very manipulative. The foxes see nothing wrong with telling white lies to cover up their pasts or their actions. They are quick to be trusted, despite their true untrustworthiness. Not all of the foxes act and think this way, but the high-rank foxes do, and what they say goes, no matter what. The skulk is also known to be very religious. They rely heavily on guidance from the stars, and this faith is held by nearly every member. When they are going through a trying experience, they will almost completely ignore the foxes of their own ranks and instead look to their ancestors.

the skulk of the lost is a place for all foxes to gather and make a home in. many of them have tragedy in their pasts and now look for a place to call home. most of the foxes are extremely soft-hearted, but do not cross them - they will not hesitate to fight. their territory is off to the north and is mostly in a pine forest, and it snows quite often. most of the time the pine forest is covered in snow, but if not there is a low fog and pine needles covering the dirt floor. they hunt for mostly mice, voles and shrews, and the occasional bird. off to the south, they face meadowland, on the western side desert, and on the east, a coastline.
the skulk of the lost is filled with soft-hearted foxes that will not hesitate to take others in. they are all skilled in healing and are required to have novice knowledge of herbs. every week they take the time to gather in the camp's clearing and talk to each other, about their day, their past, anything. basically, they come together in a big support group and just talk. to join the skulk of the lost all you have to do is be soft-hearted. they love young kits, and thrive off of romance. many find love in this skulk, surprisingly.

the skulk of dappled petals is named as such because of the many ranges of pelts found within the group. when seeing the entire skulk gathered together, it almost looks like a spotted flower. filled with diversity of all kinds, the skulk of dappled petals thrives on its wide gene pool and friendly folk.
the leader of the skulk, Vainiklapis (referred to as Vaini-klaa by her skulkmates), is a stoic, calm and cool vixen. She keeps a level head at most times, although her feirce loyalty to her skulk has led to trouble before. disloyalty is not tolerated in the skulk of dappled petals, and any who break this sacred law are punished severely, usually by being demoted to a -vicc for a few cycles.
names: every fox in the skulk has a full name. full names are generally only used when a fox is a kit, and then are shortened to a prefix after becoming a pupil and earning their suffix. after becoming a pupil, full names are only used during ceremonies or if a fox's attention is needed badly (such as in an emergency or if they are in trouble). suffixes are a large source of pride in the skulk, and due to this, having your suffix stripped it one of the worst punishments in the group (besides exile or death, of course).
suffixes:
-klaa : a suffix given to leaders and former leaders
-klaashk : a suffix given to elders, second-in-commands or respected foxes. an elder may refer to a leader using -klaashk as a sign of respect, but no one else may.
-vice : a suffix given to scouts
-vicc : a suffix given to pupils, can also be used as a derogatory term if addressing a -vice
-dulsh : a suffix given to vixens that are in the nursery
-beyrh : a suffix given to mending vulpe
territory: the skulk of dappled petals lives in a lush forest with patches of grassland in the outer areas. a large lake spans about 1/4 of the northwest part of the territory, and light marshland surrounds the lake. common prey items are rabbits, mice, waterfowl and forest birds, and berry bushes dot the land throughout the territory. it is uncommon for a dappled petals fox to fish, but in times of famine it is a normal occurance. spring brings heavy rains and often floods the lake, while winter causes deep snows and bitter winds. rarely, the lake will freeze over in winter, but when it isnt it is used for a source of food.
reputation: the skulk of dappled petals is friendly enough, but if betrayed will turn on the betrayer quicker than a frightened hare. often seen as pompous or 'pretty and petty' by enemies, the skulk may flaunt their bright pelts a bit too much at gatherings, but they mean well! generally quite open by nature, they'll treat you the way you treat them. if you want a trustworthy and loyal ally, great! if you are looking for a bitter, lifelong fued, well.. youre in the right place. William H. Walton once said 'To carry a grudge is like being stung to death by one bee.' ...haha... the pack of dappled petals cherishes and nurtures that bee until it's a large, angry wasp before letting it rain havoc. just... for your sake, try to stay on their good side, please? they're easily offended... just don't disrespect them and you should be good.

Enter the Skulk of Creaking Branches and be wary. This group of foxes is very matriarchal - not a single male can be found within their higher ranks. The females are believed to have been sent from the stars themselves as they can not only fight, hunt and be stealthy but they can nurture new life. The kit mothers are regarded highly in this skulk, honored with rituals and the best pieces of prey every night and ever morning. To have a mate and be blessed with kits is a valued thing indeed. Males within the skulk are looked on as mere pawns, subjects that do nothing more then provide for kit mothers and ensure that a bloodline will be passed on. As far as general demeanor is concerned, this skulk is very snotty - they often have their noses high above them in the presence of strangers for they believe that other skulks are ridiculous for holding males to any sort of respectable standards. That is, that's the nature of the females of this skulk. The males like to keep their heads lowered, posture passive and generally dismissive. Males within the skulk know to keep their mouths closed unless spoken to directly.
The territory of the Skulk of Creaking Branches is that of a thin forest with a river rushing through the southern part of their land. The area is sparse enough to be home to many different kinds of foxes - red foxes, grey foxes, swift foxes, or even cape foxes. The last two are rarer then the first but still present. The most common fox found in the skulk are the red foxes.

This skulk is one of the most mysterious. They keep to themselves as much as possible, and at gatherings share little about their lives. This near-isolation is the result of their main belief: 'An open mouth the enemies will pour poison down; an open heart the enemies will stab; an open mind the enemies will deceive; a closed fox the enemies cannot destroy.' According to their law, this chant must be called out at the end of every meeting or ceremony. If a fox has been found guilty of spilling too much information to other skulks, they will be exiled immediately or, if the case is particularly bad, the leader will kill the fox themself. Concerning the second phrase of the chant, a fox suspected of having a mate in a different skulk will be exiled. Finally, if a member of the Dark Nights has been mentioning the ideas of another skulk's, they will be exiled promptly. The territory is quite bleak. All there is to see is vast, flat tundra with looming mountains to the north. It is often difficult to catch prey due to this openness, but usually there will be at least a mouse and an ermine in the fresh-kill pile. The other prey that can be found in this territory include rabbits and hares, with the occasional vole. To blend in with the terrain as much as possible, most of the wolves are light-colored or some hue of gray.

The foxes of the skulk of distant echoes are known to be friendly and outgoing. The skulk of distant echoes was named for the sound of their calls echoing through the mountains. They usually try to avoid fights with other skulks but if they feel threatened, they will do everything in their power to protect the group. They are usually very concerned about other skulks so they will eagerly help others and form alliances. The foxes from the skulk of distant echoes tend to be a bit nosy, but their friendly, outgoing and rambunctious personalities tend to make up for it.
Their territory is spread out going a beautiful mountain range that is covered in lush trees. Their camp is hidden in the middle of the mountain in one of their patches of forests. It's nestled against a large rock pile. The camp has many hidden crevices that are used as dens.
Since the skulk of distant echoes is in the mountains, their pelts are usually darker in color (i.e. black, grey etc.) so they can blend in easily with their surroundings. They still have the typical orange fur colored that most foxes have though. Despite this, they'll get a fox of different coloring occasionally if they are found on patrols. Silver and marbled are considered to be the most beautiful pelt colors in this pack because of how unusual they are. Members of the skulk usually have slender builds, built for speed and endurance, and powerful hind legs, built for climbing and jumping from rock to rock.
