Not long after Blazenose had left Lavenderleaf felt herself waking up from a dreamless rest. The lack of contact with Starclan was a bit concerning to say the least, but not out of the ordinary. Lavenderleaf was still an apprentice in the eyes of the clan with Blazenose as their head medicine cat. It would make sense for Starclan to contact him over her. Although with his failure to communicate with them Lavenderleaf at least hoped to catch a glimpse of something. -Perhaps they could not contact Blazenose for whatever reason. But alas her nights remained dark and dreamless with no news to share with the clan.

Lavenderleaf rolled out of bed in a flurry the morning breeze bringing in the scent of death. When she got outside the sight of Foxfall's dead and foam covered body greeted her.

Chivepaw played with a moss ball in the apprentices den. she passed it back of forth from her paws lazily, and sighed.
it was rather boring, these days. her training was fine, fun. Silverfeather was nice. but all anyone ever talked about was the horrible cat who was cursing the clan with awful deaths. they gossiped, they threw accusations, the clan seemed to be turning on each other.

Morningdove had no idea what to do.
His paws stayed glued to the ground from where he sat in the warrior's den. Tail curled around his paws, he stared at the sunlight outside of the den, Panic thundered in his ears. The tom was not ready to be a deputy. A few moons ago, everything had been normal and sane. Now what? Cats were dying left and right and there was nothing Morningdove could do no matter how hard he tried. Eyes flatten to his head, he sat there are silence and grief.

Silverpaw sat in the apprentice den with her sister Chivepaw. She watched as a moss ball went back and forth between her sister's paws. All the clan had been talking was death and a cursed one in the clan.

Laying in her nest Cloverheart was finding it harder to go on with daily life with all the death surrounding her. With a sigh the shecat stood and padded out of the warriors den.

Lavenderleaf was running, but she
didn't know what was chasing her.
The area around her was empty.
Where is Starclan?! They
refused to speak to her. They
were gone. Blazenose was right-
they had abandoned them.

Lavenderleaf could feel that
she would wake soon- but a
voice began to scream in her
ears. A prophecy rang in her
head as her eyes snapped open.
Lavenderleaf realized she had,
in fact, not been asleep, but
that she was standing in a circle
of cats around Foxfall's still form.
And their eyes were staring,
accusing, at her pale purple
pelt.

Lavenderleaf gulped. "I just
was given a prophecy. But Star-
clan wasn't there. I just... heard
it." Skeptical glares ran over
her fur, causing it to raise. The
shecat gulped again before
continuing. "The bloom has
broken- only time will reveal
whether the plant with wither."

One cat shivered- those were the
same words that Lichendrop had
uttered before her untimely
death. A cat from the crowd
yowled, "How do we know
you aren't making that up to
try and point the blame away
from yourself!"

Lavenderleaf flattened her ears
as cats began to call her name
for exile. I didn't do this!
She darted her gaze to Chivepaw.
Chivepaw, whom she had cared
for and pampered for moons.
Chivepaw, who Lavenderleaf had
hoped to take as her own
apprentice one day. Chivepaw
nodded.

The two cats turned and dashed
away, cats behind them yowling
that running meant guilt.

Eventually, Lavenderleaf and
Chivepaw came upon a Windclan
patrol. They explained what had
happened, but a young, uppity
windclan warrior killed Lavender-
leaf before she could finish. After
Chivepaw cut in and finished, the
cat realized their mistake. The
patrol allowed Chivepaw to join
Windclan on the terms that she
would never return to Riverclan
soil again.

Shame on you, Riverclan! You've
exiled not only your apprentice
medicine cat, but an innocent
apprentice as well!

Silverpaw ran out of her den,
tears streaming down her muzzle.
The nightmare that she had been
having since the murders started
wouldn't let up. She couldn't take
it anymore. Foxfall, her father,
was dead. Her sister ran away,
and Lavenderleaf was exiled.
She still had her mother, but
Silverpaw missed her sister
so much...

A cat heard Silverpaw's pawsteps
and panicked tears. They ducked
out of their den, their ears
perked. "Silverpaw, are you
okay?"

And then, Silverpaw's dream
made perfect sense. "You!
It was you! This entire time,
it was you!" Silverpaw
didn't stick around to hear the
cat's explanation. She just ran.

Silverpaw dashed towards the
lake, submerging herself in the
waters. She would go to
Thunderclan, yes. The killer
could never get her there.
Silverpaw had always been a
strong swimmer; she truly
believed she would be able
to swim all the way across
the lake.

Unfortunately, she was exhausted.
Mixing the force of her run with
her little sleep due to nightmares,
the apprentice had no chance in
making it.

Her body washed ashore on
the border between Shadowclan
and Riverclan. It was later returned
to Riverclan by a Shadowclan patrol,
so that the clan could mourn their
last apprentice properly.

Goodness, Riverclan, you've
lost your last witness...!
