@Luzien yes, we are buying her a crate today...

She will sleep in my room, due to me doing much research, and that was very useful of what you said!

Guys, I found Jasper's harness from when he was a puppy! He was so tiny then!! I'll post pics when I get back home. It's hard to believe he was ever that little! He's so big now.... And he's still nothing but a cuddle bug!

    since you are getting a smart dog, look into positive training !
    You can start teaching her sit, lie down and especially her name a few days
    after you've gotten her! Lots of socialization so ask friends to come over and
    say hi to her c: . You can bring her outside but only carry her since she doesn't
    have all her shots yet I'd assume! If you know people who have healthy dogs with
    all their shots, ask to set up playdates .

    Potty training will take some time, but don't punish the dog for using the bathroom
    inside, it is still a puppy and it will take some time!

    @Flossie @maninkari @LeiaWolfe

    Thank you for the replies, I'll do some research on Bichon Frises and consider them as well!

    I'm not sure what you mean by "too sensitive"?

    So for now I'm considering the Italian Greyhound, Chinese Crested and Bichon Frise, does anyone else have any other breeds I should look into?
    Also I don't have experience having 2 dogs at once, but would getting 2 dogs in the future be a better option or just 1 dog? Like if I leave the dog alone would it be better for it to have another dog to play with or no?

Getting to dogs together can be hard for training as they will bond with each other rather than you ( litter mate syndrome) and you be able to separate them to work with each dog. It's better to get one then wait a year to a year and a half then add another its gives ample time to train and bond with the first dog.

Since JJ's birthday was a couple days ago, i just got a Facebook memory of the babies! This is when their little bed was being cleaned, so they all splayed out across the floor. You can easily tell which ones take after Duke and which ones take after Lucy :lol:

Omg, the cuteness, I cant even...

Is that little baby JJ in the left corner?? With the two blue pups and the brown w/ spot on neck. I think I'm 100% sure, JJ's markings are one of a kind lmao

Also, Spade mastered her hardest command/trick: LEAVE IT. She can even do it with a piece of hamburger right in her face, which is very good. Spade's impulse control...little to nothing, the first few times I had to raise my voice, had to make sure she could hear me over her brain going: TREATTREATTREATGETITGETITGEIT haha. Still working on Stay, anybody got tips?? Almost as soon as I back away, turn my back, make a sudden movement, anything she's running over to me or whatever is distracting her.

Also, we got another kitten, no fun for Spade bc this baby is fragile(only 3 weeks old), and with how Spade tramples over Vashti AND our 7 month old cat, no way they're being introduced.

That is JJ, she's very distinctive. I don't have any tips but good job! Leave it is so difficult when your dog loves nothing more than food.

I also got another kitten today c: She's around 5 weeks, and her name is Rat Man. I introduced them but they still have to be separated because JJ sees her as more of a chew toy than anything. Once she's a bit bigger JJ won't care. She does fine with Sebastian (I've posted about him before, brought him on a road trip with us once) now.

Ugh, I just need to fuss a minute. Ticks are so freaking horrible this year!! Down here, we didn't really have a winter to kill em off, and it is showing! Fleas aren't that bad, though. Thankfully, everyone in my little pack has a great flea collar (darn things are $80 each for 8 months). They work amazingly! But with no winter, everyone is stilling coming back with little seed ticks. The deer ticks aren't that bad, only see a few of em. But when they get in for the night, everyone gets a good once over to grab any ticks off em. Most of the time, by the time they get to me, the ticks are dead, but still. I just don't know what to do. Talked to their vet and she said there was pretty much nothing we can do besides prevention, and she agrees that we are doing a good job there. Just tired of seeing my little ones covered in ticks. They love to get under Jake's muzzle and in his pits. Ready for summer to be over so that ticks can die down a bit!
Okay... end rant. XD sorry about that, just so tired of ticks.

WafflesTheCat wrote:Hi, I am adopting a two month old toy poodle this Friday, I have named her Alma and she is ginger colored. This is my first dog, and neither my brothers nor mom have owned one. My dad did, yet that was when he was much younger. Nonetheless, this is my first pup. I would like maybe some advice to treating her on her first day, potty training and such?
Thank you :3

They are supposedly the second smartest doggo breed and have long life spans and such but I still need some advice.

Alma

only two days until the awaited Friday! I really need advice for Alma's frost couple of days...

aww congrats ! as to treating her for the first day , i wouldn't train her immediately . it's
always best to let the doggo get used to her surroundings, and training on the first 2 days isn't
really good . i would allow her to meet every member in the house {if you have multiple}
and have her in a peaceful place to sleep , trying to show her where her food and water is might
be extremely helpful as well ! i would wait about 5 days {maybe a week} and then start training her x
