Rosetail's mind starts kicking into gear before she's even fully awake. She can feel Sweetnose beside her and purrs for a moment. Opening her eyes, she muzzles him. "Morning," she murmurs.
But something's wrong. He's not moving. And now that she's paying attention, he's cold, too.
Panic gripping her heart, she nudges him insistently. "Sweetnose?" she says, voice rising. "Sweetnose?!"

Foxfall woke to the sound of Lilystar calling for the clan's medicine cats. Dread rushed over him, and he padded out of the warrior den, bounding over to his sister. Sweetnose lay dead on his mate, looking peaceful. Looking at Lilystar, he gulped, "He was old, but this can't be a coincidence. Three deaths in a moon." As Rosetail began to yowl, Foxfall went to comfort the elder. Rosetail had been mates with Sweetnose as long as he could remember, they were when he was a kit.

Lilystar nodded. "We need to figure out who is causing these accidents and why StarClan abandon us," the gray molly meowed. "We need to exile someone, even if we may get it wrong," she murmured, deaths starting to shake her calm exterior. "Rosetail why don't you go help the queens today?" she asked the elder, feeling sorry for her.

The grieving elder looks at Lilystar, eyes shining with tears. "Okay," she croaks, getting to her paws and numbly shuffling off to the nursery.

the expecting queen stirred slightly in her sleep at the sounds of cats rushing around and yelling. however, it was rosetail who woke her up when she entered the nursery. startled, bramblingflower sat up abruptly in her nest but settled down once she noticed who it was. "Rosetail, what's wrong?" she asked worriedly when she noticed the tears streaming down the elder's face.

The cream elder thumps into a sitting position. "Sweetnose is dead," she says numbly, unaware that she's still crying.

the queen was shocked, to say the least. "Sweetnose? Dead?" although he was an elder, many thought he and his mate would live to see many more moons together. "That's-that's horrible." she mumbled softly, not knowing what to say. when risenflame had died, nothing anyone said ever comforted her in the least and in that moment, she was the other cat.

Chivekit's ears twitched when she heard what the queen and elder said. Immediately, she bounced awake and rushed over to the queen. "Bramblingflower, what's going on?" her little fluffy tail twitched and a worried expression grew on her face.

bramblingflower smiled sadly at the little kitten, before saying, "sweetnose is in a better place now, okay, honey? he'll be with starclan now." she didn't know what else to tell chivekit; the queen didn't even know if the little kitten had a concept of death or not.
