Delta's tail flicked, lashing at a fly soaring towards her. She snorted, and trotted off towards a small pond. The young mare could hear the distant voices of horses. She ignored them. Delta dipped her head to the cool water, taking a few gulps.

Trinity caught her breath and tugged at the ropes that were tightly around her neck, slowly choking her. She trotted up the slope.

[sunbeam]

"nice to meet you" whinnied Kinner standing up.

Trinity nodded. She saw a sharp rock and hooked it under the rope. It easily sliced off. With a deep breath she trotted over to her herd.

"Has your herd been around here long?" Kinner asked Trinity trotting quickly after her on her stubbly legs.

Trinity thought. "Sort of..." she replied, her voice hoarse from the ropes.

Kinner nodded. " What happened with you and those beasts with two legs? What are they and why were they trying to hurt all of you?" asked Kinner looking about seeing if any of them were around.

Trinity sighed. "they are humans. Two groups are at war and I don't know what they want." she growled. She raced up the slope, hoping the others were okay.

Song noticed a new horse and Trinity come up.

Kinner was shocked. What does this war have to do with us horses she wondered but did not want to bombard Trinity with anymore questions. She saw whyspr and cantered over to her. She wanted to get to know the herd better so she introduced herself. "Hello my name is Kinner it is a pleasure to meet you" Kinner said nodding her head. Seeing the small frightened foal behind Whyspr she put her head down and gave a smile to her.
