^ Aw, Lacey looks so cute in her new haircut!

I fed JJ and Pete raw for the first time today. They eat it very differently than kibble, it's kinda funny. I also bought a huge pack of chicken paws for a dollar. JJ is the only one interested in them though, Petes very picky about what he likes.

JJ went over to play with Chloe yesterday. Chloe's owner gave her Chloe's entire bowl of food overfilled with kibble. Chloe's like 80 lbs. JJ being JJ ate ALL OF IT. She has no limits, if there's food she'll eat it.

Been a while since I've been on here... but I had a question. I've got a Great Pyrenees pup. He's just over a year old, and the poor baby is on vet ordered cage rest, has been for 5 months. He got hit by a car and broke a back leg. Then just as we were getting ready to take the pen out, he fell and broke it again. And now he's probably going to lose that leg. He's been on cage rest since that first time. And I know he gets bored. So I've been giving g him toys to play with (when someone is with him of course). But everything I give him is in shreds 5 minuets after he gets it! I got a rope tgat stated it was for heavy chewers. I even got one of those Tire Biter toys(got one for my rottie mix a while back and he couldn't tear it up). He made quick work of both of them. I bought him a Kong toy, too. And he's simply not interested. I don't mind him tearing up a toy, I mean it's his! I just don't want him eating anything he shouldn't. So, any ideas on a toy that is giant, bored puppy proof?

And for those wondering, Jasper gets let out of the cage about 6-8 times a day to potty. Sadly, due to vet's orders, he can't be left out and allowed to play. Though when he is outside, we walk the yard and let him get some exercise. And he gets showered with love and treats. Poor buddy is gonna be spoiled rotten when he's finally able to run free.

My brother had the bright idea to take Skai out front when her brother, Bear, was here with his owners. A little backstory, Bear's mother, Benelly, is dominant and I have heard that Bear and Benelly get into fights all the time. Therefore, I have come to the conclusion that Bear is dominant as well. So is Skai. Last thing I need is a dog fight. Both of my brothers were hanging onto the leash getting drug around the yard by an 11 month old puppy. I had to go out there and I stormed her back into the house and into my room. I know I am going to get yelled at for it but I had told and explained to everyone it is a bad idea. Of course no one listens to me about anything.

Maybe an braided bully stick, dried beef tendon, antler or Himalayan chew? I've seen a ball that used to be advertised as being indestructible but then someone gave one to an elephant..., also I've seen balls made out of wood for tough chewers but don't know if they'd be safe/work.

What about a puzzle toy that involves batting it around to get the treat instead of chewing on it? I'd also play some training games with him, maybe teach him a trick like waving or nodding on cue to stimulate his mind.

So we took Lilly out for the first time since she was spayed.

She did really well, only growled at a giant dog that was leaving, but considering her size to his size, it wasn't surprising. Big old st. Bernard vs GSD mix puppy. She did really well though! I was surprised, I gave her a little slack on the leash and let her smell the smells. She was so good and I'm so proud!

She got a new toy and some new treats!

Took Kato on a really dog friendly hike today, and let him off leash. He was really really really good. He ignored most of the dogs and played nicely with the ones that wanted to play with him. Once a mini poodles owner picked it up and kato tried to follow them. At the top of the hike, it's this giant quarry rock with a heavenly view of a cove. Kato ran ahead and there were these bushes so I couldn't see what he was doing. Anyways, there was this crevice where rain collected and basically pure watery mud. I got up to the rock and couldn't see him and then I looked down and he was wading in the mud. He was very dirty but he had lots of fun ahaha

hello... i haven't been very active on this thread lately due to my dog's death, but i have a question for some of you.

my yellow labrador retriever, sam, was attacked by a german shepherd when she was a few months old. the dog went for her belly and tore open her whole abdomen area so that her ribs were almost visible. thankfully, she recovered, but with post-traumatic stress, it seems.

before we moved to the countryside, she'd always roll onto her back and expose her belly to the dominant dog she was playing with, but this only started after the attack. she'd act all submissive to show that she wasn't a threat, in an attempt to prevent being attacked again. i thought the behavior would stop once we moved out to an acreage. nope. even with our very sweet, calm dogs (who are in no way dominant or aggressive), sam acts submissive. and it's very different from the i-want-you-to-rub-my-belly thing. with that, her tail is wagging, her ears are up, she's just more relaxed. with this, however, her ears pin against her head and her tail tucks in between her legs. sometimes she even whimpers. our bernese mountain dog, persephone, licks sam's belly when she does this! all my dogs are sweethearts, so it's very confusing as to why she does this. i just think she's paranoid. something like ptsd maybe.

do you know of any ways i can try to get her out of this? every time she does it, i tell her firmly to get up and praise her if she does. usually, though, she doesn't get up until the dog has backed away. i know it's cute, i know it's nice to have a soft dog, and i'm grateful for that, but if she keeps doing this, i'm afraid a tough dog is going to take advantage of her one day and hurt her. she needs to be able to stand up for herself, literally. i don't mean fight back, but i don't want her to give in either.

thank you!

Flossie - Aww, Lacey looks so fancy! <3

Sooo. Today really sucked.
I went to a roadside market today since they were open and really close. I got some snacks and went back to the house.
During this time, I had trusted my next door neighbor to watch Justin since leaving him with my mom's friend would be a nightmare. He knows Justin very well and they were sitting on his front porch together when I left. The story, as told by my neighbor, went like this...Two little kids from across the street, 9 and 11, went to my neighbor's to hang out with Justin. Everyone around my neighborhood knows Justin pretty well and he's a hit with all the kids. The two kids who were on the porch with him are old enough to know how to treat a dog, my mom's friend came out of our house with a belt in her hand. She was screaming at Justin and telling him to "Get over here!" According to her, Justin bit the younger of the two children so she called AC. Not a mark could be found on the child but AC took him anyway.
I got back just as the van was pulling away. My neighbor told me the whole story and we followed the van. Now sitting in the lobby, I've called my mom and she's letting me stay with my friend from school who lives a block away.
If I can bail Justin out of the shelter, he'll stay with us.
Ugh, long day. Too long.
I have quit. Goodbye.

He's not interested in puzzle toys. Those were my first goto, and he ignores them. I've seen antlers, and wanted to try them out, but havnt seen any big enough, may have to try online. But he's been given all kinds of chew bones with the thought of them lasting a while. And they don't, if I'd let him, he'd eat an entire one in about 15 minutes. I'll have o try those tricks though... Thank you!
