I heard the Raven was really scary. Edgar Allen Poe, even though that didn't scare me, gains my respect for scaring other millions.

The beginning was sort of scary but the rest wasn't. Edgar Allen Poe is better then any other "horror romance" writer can today.

The following story is not mine; I found it onCreepypasta.wikia.

A young girl is playing in her bedroom when she hears her mother call to her from the kitchen, so she runs downstairs to meet her mother.

As she's running through the hallway, the door to the cupboard under the stairs opens, and a hand reaches out and pulls her in. It's her mother. She whispers to her child, "don't go into the kitchen. I heard it too".

I have one:
I visited New Mexico during spring break. When, I arrived at the hotel, to my surprise, and huge pool was outside, just waiting for me. I changed into my bathing suit, and ran outside. I saw a long ,tall, brick tower, with wáter coming from the bottom. Waterslide! I thought, excited. I climbed up the steps, and saw the entrance, dark and gloomy. I didn’t care. I jumped down, letting the wáter carry me all the way through. I popped out, and splashed into the wáter, laughing. This will be the best vacation ever! I thought. An hour later I went back to the hotel room to get dinner. After dinner, my sister and I went to the pool. It was 7:00 so it was very dark outside, the sun was setting, leaving us the moon and stars to depend on. We saw a sign on the slide saying: CLOSED. We shrugged, and swam in the pool, talking about the new movies that came out. We some a group of boys laughing and splashing each other. One guy said, “Hey, Mark, ever Heard of Caption Slide?” He asked. Mark replied, “No.” He said. “He’s the old geezer who walks the slide at night, making sure no one comes down or up the slide.” His friend sia.d We listened, I thought that sounded stupid. Mark rolled his eyes, “So?” His friend said, “I bet you can’t go down that slide.” He taunted. Mark shook his head, “I rather not-“ His friends interuppted him, “Too chicken Barrk Barrk!” They teased, laughing. Mark sighed, “Fine I’ll go.” He got out of the wáter. My sister and I watched, wide-eyed. We saw Mark go into the slide. His friends were laughing still. Ten minutes passed, nothing happened. His friends called, “Mark? Mark! You still alvie?” They laughed. I watched the slide, hearing a dreadful scream, and nothing else. Everything and everyone went quiet.
He never came out…

I'm just making this up as I go, so sorry if it's not that scary.

Anthony glanced over at the beautiful girl in the passenger seat of his car, then back to the road.
"Thanks for taking me to the fair, I had a great time." The girl said, taking his free hand, as he kept his other on the steering wheel.
"No problem Nicky, I had lots of fun too." He smiled at his girlfriend, noticing that she still held the stuffed unicorn that he'd won for her. She hugged it close, smiling, and watching the trees fly by out the window.
It was getting dark out when the car broke down. Anthony swore and went to see if the problem was fixable, telling Nicky to stay in the car.
He checked everything he could think of that might have gone wrong, but everything was fine. This puzzled Anthony, and he decided that he'd try to start it again. Walking around the back, he opened his door and tried to start the car again, while explaining to Nicky that nothing seemed to be wrong.
The car wouldn't start, and Anthony glanced apoligeticly at Nick. "We'll have to call a tow truck." He realized that Nicky didn't seem to be listening, and he leaned closer to her seemingly sleeping form. "Nicky? Are you okay?" He shook her arm, trying to wake her up. When that didn't work, he started to get anxious. "Nicky wake up!" He shook her arm harder, and he head fell to the side.
Anthony gasped, pulling away abruptly. Blood trailed down Nicky's neck, starting at the spot where I large knife protruded.
"Nicky!" Anthony cried, staring at his girlfriend, still tightly clutching the stuffed unicorn--which was now covered in blood.
Something cold and sharp pricked his neck, and he froze. "Hello!" A cheery voice spoke from behind him. He glanced at the man out of the corners of his eyes.
A clown. The man was a clown, literaly. Except that his makeup was running, and dark colored. He smiled like a lunitic, still holding that knife to Anthony's neck.
"I said hello!" The clown said in a high, cheerful voice.
"He-hello..." Anthony started fearfuly, stuttering.
"And..?"
Anthony gasped as the knife drew blood.
"And...and..."
"And good night." The clown said, his voice changing instantly from a high pitched happy ring to a deep, dark sounding growl. He laughed evily, lifting the knife away from Anthony's neck to bring it back down forcefuly.
The last thing the young boy saw was his deaed girlfriend, and then a sad looking, happy clown, bringing down the knife...

Baaahhh...It's not very good... :\
