tanglebelly sat quietly before the many graves that now lined riverclan's burial grounds. sorrow reverberated in his heart as he looked down at the freshly overturned earth at his feet, paws muddied and coat damp from the lazy drizzle. his heart ached as deeply as the hollow, constant pain in his bones, and he closed his eyes.
"i didn't do right by you, cherrystar." he murmured. "i was distant, and foolishly convinced you'd turned your back on me. we grew apart somewhere down the line, didn't we?"
the large, aging tom opened his green optics once more, their depths only deepened with grief and exhaustion. his thoughts ran to sorrelpaw, to whitethroat. were they living happily? had starclan granted them peace?
"ah..."
tears mingled with raindrops on tanglebelly's striped muzzle, and he glanced up at the sky. somewhere above, surely those who loved him were watching. poppyface, who hated war and perished to its relentless greed, redstar who had served his clan and led it well for many moons, goldenthroat, who had mothered his first daughter and given her life to save the kit they had loved.
did cherrystar watch, too? did she wish for him to have peace? was she angry?
was... was it okay for him to cry? did he have a right to mourn?
"forgive me, my love, for neglecting you." he whispered. "forgive me for not doing more to protect this home of ours."
a breeze ruffled his thick tabby coat, and his whiskers trembled as his eyes burned, heart heavy in his chest. his muddied paws stung--he'd had to bury so many bodies. too many. he longed for the days when he could laugh with his clanmates, could help teach new kits to hunt in the reeds, and let them play with his tangled, fluffy tail. he longed for the days of sun and fish and sharing tongues on the stone, but most of all he longed for the daughters he'd raised and the mate that he loved.
he longed for peace.
finally, he took a deep, long breath of the chilled air, and stood. pain pooled in his joints, and he grunted, looking up at the stormy sky once more.
"wait for me, please. i can feel the pull of the stars in these old bones--it won't be long my dear. bear with the loneliness just a little longer." he whispered his plea to the horizon, before making his way back toward the camp, where his accusers awaited him.
he set his jaw.
he was ready for whatever starclan had planned next. he would trust that things would work out, despite the fear and uncertainty in his heart.
what other choice did he have?

Padding out of camp the old warrior took one last glace at his only home, knowing that no matter the outcome he wouldn't return.

The world seemed colder then it used to, as if the darkness of night sucked up all the heat that the sun gave moments before. Tail tucked over his nose the old toms breathing slowed, growing weaker with every intake of air. He was planning on moving into the elders den before all the senseless killings had begun and now... the stress on his old bones was catching up.
Eyes closing a smile graced his features.. he was home amongst the stars now. Reunited with clanmates of his past and memories.
RiverClan what have you done.. your last warrior has been exiled.

The End wrote:
Coyotecall had left for the moonstone leaving Screechpaw and Amberflame alone at camp.
She was sitting just outside camp when Amberflame joined her side "Whats on your mind?" Eyes downcast Screechpaw had been reliving that night, when she hadn't made it in time.."I was there.. and I couldn't help her." Confused he tilted his head before it clicked "Oh, you mean Riverflash? It was tragic.. she truly thought her daughter was in danger."
"What?" She backed away from the tom, how did he know why she was out? No one, not even herself had known why the deputy rushed into a fight she wouldn't have won alone. Something wasn't right and Amberflame quickly realized his mistake. Turning on the young apprentice he hadn't realized her silent escape, his blind eye facing that area during their talk. Seeing her figure ahead he raced after her.
-
"Something isn't right I'm sorry StarClan but I can't tonight." Coyotecall just couldn't leave the territory, the further from camp he got the stronger his sense of dread grew until eventuality turning back. "Screechpaw and Amberflame are fine nothing is gonna happen we cau-" thats when he heard it, the loud and fearful scream of his apprentice.
"Screechpaw!" Racing forward his his heart beat frantically "This isn't happening, this isn't happening, th.."
The sight he came upon wasn't what he expected at all...
There stood Amberflame and below him laid the unmoving body of Screechpaw.
Crashing forward with a deafening yowl Coyotecall attacked the medicine cat before he could speak "Why?! Why are you doing this!" He just couldn't understand.
"What do you mean? Isn't it obvious!" Hissing the older tom flipped their positions, pinning Coyotecall down "You take death pretty easily as I recall.. he told you what he was planning and you took it as a joke!" Ears flat they both began to struggle for power yelling blame back and forth "Echopaw was my closest friend and you think I didn't care?!" Clawing across his muzzle Coyotecall continued "After you became medicine cat you distanced yourself from everyone, not realizing that we cared more than you seen."
"No one-"
"YES WE DID!!" Clamping his jaws around the toms throat Coyotecall knew he wouldn't stop, this needed to be done..
With one final twitch Amberflame grew still, eyes still wide and filled with anger. Perhaps holding the smallest amount of sorrow if one looked hard enough.
-
Gasping for air Coyotecall realized he had a few wounds of his own, none too serious. As he regained his composer a sound alerted him, a small and rattled breath from nearby. Facing the believed dead body of Screachpaw he realized her chest was rising faintly. Moving quickly he inspected her body, seeing if she was safe to move. Gripping her scruff gently he raced towards the WindClan border for help.
The feeling of dread was gone.. replaced by hope.
You did it Riverclan!
After everything the killer has been found and you survived, the ones left anyway.
Screechpaw was the guard
Coyotecall was witness

hello, mir! i've been thinking long and hard about some of the issues that we've faced during the short time that murderers in riverclan has been alive. many players have given me valuable input on what they think we should see moving forward in the game, and have voiced concerns over some developments within our midst. so, without further ado, i will address some of our biggest issues and brightest ideas.
modes of gameplay
some members have expressed that the roles we have now don't provide as much diversity as was hoped, and don't really create an experience much different from murderers in thunderclan. to combat this, i will be overhauling the current roles and the way that they work, as well as adding a few different modes of play to spice things up. in addition, the game will become more story/plot-heavy to allow players to fully enjoy getting to see the impact of their play. mir will no longer be a game only about the traditional one-killer mafia-style setup, but will have three different game setups that a host can choose from. these setups are as follows:
classic [standard difficulty]
player requirement: 9+
- one killer
- one guard
- one witnesses
- two pairs
this is your classic mir round, minus a witness. in this round, the host may give as many hints as they would like, and create any reason they want for why the killer has decided to choose murder. the witnesses have seen tangible proof of the killings, like coat color, eye color, size, etc. and the guard exists to help protect his/her clanmates from the murderers claws. in this mode of play, the clan wins if they exile the killer, or if the killer is left alone with a witness.
the cursed clan [higher difficulty]
player requirement: 13+
- one killer
- no guard
- two witnesses
- two pairs
also known as the "all deaths are accidents" round. riverclan has been cursed with bizarre and troubling accidents that befall anyone that gets too close to the killer. the host may choose any reason why the clan has been cursed, but this round runs on the premise that the clan must find the cursed cat and kill or exile them before everyone in the clan is dead. in this round, witnesses are given intangible omens from starclans, miniature prophecies to help lead them to the cursed cat. in this round, the clan only wins if they kill or exile the cursed cat.
coup d'état [highest difficulty]
player requirement: 21+
- two killers
- one guard
- no witnesses
- two pairs
- patrol
in this round, two cats within the clan have decided that the way things are going aren't good enough. the blood in riverclan is stale, and the cats who inhabit it are holding it back from greatness. the two killers have decided to create and alliance to wipe out their clanmates--the host may choose whatever reason they please for doing so. the dual killer role works the same way as a pair--the killers know who each other are. there are no witnesses, but the guard will be buffed to make up for this. in this game, the clan has to exile both killers, individually, to win.
role changes - the guard buff
i know a lot of you have been waiting for this! from now on, the guard no longer has to message the host before the killer. instead, the round will only begin after both the guard and the killer have both pm'd the host. this is to help the guard be more successful in harder difficulty rounds.
new round requirements
new mir players
from now on, there will be a few requirements to be able to play on mir. in order to be eligible to play mir, new players will have to submit a form proving they have played five rounds of mit (hosting counts). players who have already started playing mir before this rule was implemented are exempt, but any new players starting tomorrow (06/21/2017) must meet this requirement before being allowed to participate.
voting and the option to abstain
from now on, there will be an option not to vote. if the whole clan agrees that they don't have sufficient evidence, they will be allowed to give up their voting phase until more evidence is provided. if, for example, two cats vote for someone but the rest of the cats abstain, then the accused cat will be "voted up." there will be a bonus stage of voting where the clan may decide to vote "innocent" if they think the cat should not be exiled, or "guilty" if they think that there is sufficient proof for the exile. this will deter "bandwagon" voting and will give users a second chance to consider the vote. however, this is only an option if the vote is tied or if more than half of the clan abstains. if you are going to abstain from a vote, you must make it known via post--if you do not,
you will still simply be considered inactive.
discussing evidence
this is probably the most important issue i can think of. in mit and mir, discussing and participating in the discussion of evidence is one of the biggest and most important parts of the game. i still would prefer that all players refer to our mir chatzy for discussion of evidence, but i understand that is impossible for some players. because of this, i will now allow players to debate evidence on the thread, but ONLY if:
- you make your case in character with the cat you are playing during an rp post
- you make your case ooc in proper brackets AND make an rp post at the same time
new round requirements
now, last but not least i will talk about moderators.
i will always be accepting applications for becoming a moderator, but the requirements will be a bit different than they were before. to become a moderator, you must have played at least five rounds of mir, have hosted at least three rounds of mir, and must present an example kill or rp post from the thread. if i believe that the posts you give me display a proper understanding of mir and how to play, then i will allow you to become a moderator for the thread.
that being said, i am only accepting two more moderators at this time.
thank you all for listening to my announcements. before we host the next round, i will open up a Q&A for 20 minutes. any questions?
