Murderers in Riverclan V.2 [Roster Update 10/30]

The clan waited in silence as Amberflame examined the body, revealing that Riverflash had indeed been killed by a dog. However, stale clan sent clung to her pelt "Someone was with her and didn't do a thing to help. I believe.. I believe we chose wrong with Silverfeather." Ears flat the tom began gathering burial herbs with his apprentice, leaving the others to think over his findings.
Cherrystar didn't want to believe it. She knew though that her deputy would not have run off alone like that, not without reason.

As votes were gathered both Sorrelpaw and Dustpaw looked at one another, excitement had been their emotion the morning before with the thought of earning warrior names together.
Now it was only fear and betrayal.
"We should leave." Dustpaw mumbled "Go somewhere that the clans can't find us."
Sorrlepaws heart raced with uncertainty before nodding.
As the two young mates began to slowly back out a cats focus landed on their retreating forms, yowling they launching themself at the apprentices, missing by a whiskers length, allowing them a moment to escape.

As moons passed Dust and Sorrel found a cozy, prey plentiful barn where they raised their kits in peace. Left with only the memory of the true killers rage to haunt them.

As cobwebs clung to her fur ErmineShine smiled over towards Rosetail, glad for the company "You're not getting tired are you?" She was glad for the help but it was common knowledge that the elder would push herself if she set her mind on something.
Before she could answer a pained yowl was heard from near the gorge. Running off, Rosetail, paying no mind to the apprentices warnings, rushed towards the believed injured cat until ground beneath her paws became air.

Heart clenching in fear ErmineShine was quick enough to grab the she-cats scruff before she tumbled into the angry water below. Eyes darting around quickly she felt relief and lashed her tail, attempting to gain the figures attention. Once the cat padded over she moved to allow them access to the elder "helmp." Straining under the weight she waited, and waited.
Rosetail was scrabbing at the wall now, the fear of falling was becoming more and more real "What are you doing?! Help her!"

The murderer just continued watching the unfolding scene "What? you can't perform the 'simple warrior task'?" they hissed, causing ErmineShine to flinch and almost drop Rosetail, eyes wide in fear she didn't understand "mlease!"

"Was being a warrior too hard for you? Was that why you became the med's apprentice?" The killers malicious intent became crystal clear a second too late. Eyes shutting closed, ErmineShine braced herself as the cat shoved into her side, knocking the air out of her and launching the young medicine cat into the rushing current. Rosetail tried to keep her head above water but her old bones were becoming lead heavy with fatigue, weighing her down until her vision fuzzed and went black.
ErmineShine wouldn't leave her friend for much longer.. the water stole her life soon after.

Watching from the top of the gorge the killer felt nothing, brushing off their remorse like cobwebs.

Screechpaw sat up in her nest with a soft shiver. Everyone close to her had died in some way. Except for Rosetail...
She got out of the apprentices den and grabbed a mouse from the prey pile for the elder. Last time Screechpaw had heard, she was in the medicine den helping Ermineshine. So, she headed there. No cat. Shrugging, Screechpaw exited camp and followed the scent trail to... The gorge? A horrifying cold feeling gripped her heart.

As a cold breeze drifted into his den, the tom woke up startled. He glanced at where Ermineshine should be, sleeping near the entrance. But all he saw was empty space.

He knew Ermineshine as the type to sleep through her duties, so he felt it odd that she wasn't around.

Coyotecall was over grieving. Or at least, he wasn't breaking down in his nest and spending his nights sleepless. Riverclan was plagued by tragedy and by murders but the new deputy had resolved not to let that break him before he had begun. He held the respect of his dwindling clanmates, and with their respect he could help them. He could find the murderer and talk sene into them. He could save the day. He would. He had to. Because what else would he be good for if he couldn't?

Screechpaw slowly made her way down along the edge of the gorge, trying to find where it met with the river, near ThunderClam territory. To her horror, she saw the bodies of Ermineshine and the one cat who had looked after her since Lilystrike had died, Rosetail. With a despairing screech, she turned tail and blindly began running home.
