i'm lysander and i'm new to cs and to the adoptable community!! i'd like to gain knowledge and start participating more!
i've already got some kalons coming my way + tryouts filled out so i'll be able to participate in those communities fully soon!!
i have some questions! this might be a little long so feel free to skip down to the tldr:
so i've been roleplaying/writing for about a decade now, and one thing that has always confused me about the adoptable community is how they're often referred to as "ocs" and the buying/selling of "ocs"... it's really a foreign idea for me to see people trade characters and stuff because i've been using/working with my ocs for literally years (2~5 years for most, the oldest oc i still use is 10 years old) and i couldn't imagine just selling them off... especially with the amount of art i've accumulated/commissioned, but i figured out after a while that by "ocs" most people in the adopt community actually are talking about the
designs of the characters.
i have to admit it was REALLY strange for me at first because i'm like NO DON'T TOUCH MY CHILDREN I LOVE THEM
but lately i've been really interested in designing adopts because i'd really love to draw cool designs, but for the most part i have no use for them in my writing/other work because i tend to write gritty, dark, realistic things as opposed to things where i can easily incorporate pretty designs. ;w; i COULD just write a cool fantasy universe where i can use cool character designs, but... i think that defeats the purpose of me writing what i enjoy the most, you know? and apparently what i enjoy is.. post-apoc, modern fantasy type stuff, psychological mumbo-jumbo... plus all my oc designs are like, RIDICULOUSLY simple and realistic ahaha i love them so much though....
so i'm starting to participate to get a feel for the community and maybe make my own ocs based on adopt designs!
ALSO i've been thinking about species and designs for my own! here's what i've been working on:
SORRY IT'S REALLY BIG!!! it's still a wip and i have no idea what i'm doing but i was wondering how interested people might be if i made this an open species or something? trying to decide if i want to add wings or not... i don't have much confidence in my design skills BUT HEY that's why i'm practicing...!
anyway sorry if i'm not supposed to post stuff like this here; i just thought you guys would be the best place to go for some opinions!
