My question now is, what ID ranges do we need?
I'm looking at 160 - 12000 based on dates, but some litters were introduced at different times to other litters so trying to compare data across litters cannot be done if we don't choose dates when all litters were available. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Unfortunately it makes it difficult to compare litters if we chose a frame that includes all the litters. The pets available earlier in the month will have lower adoption rates when the next litters were released, right? So maybe we should take an equal amount of samples from several different ranges because that would be representative of the month as a whole.

my initial reaction is that 12000 sounds daunting but doable. It may take a while, but at the same time we will have collected 100% undisputed data for the whole month. We will of course have to compare data differently with the release of each litter. Do we know the exact dates that each litter was released?

I guess we can always work IDs out later as we can extract different datasets from our counts at the end if we want to do cross-litter comparisons?

Yeah, we can always account for differences later when we compare litters. If you need a hand with making ID ranges or anything else with setting up the count, I'd be happy to help.

That sounds like a good plan then.
The target ID range is 160 - 12000 if you think it's a good range.
Maybe 160 - 500 could be the first range, then sets of 250 or 500 after that until all are counted?
