Lynxstar sat near his den, the cold air ruffling his fur. The sun was just rising, and he let out a sharp breath.
I feel so terrible. How could I just let two apprentices leave? I don't think.. He stopped himself.
It had to be her.
But it hurt him to think that. He watched as the sun rose, and the stars faded.

He hoped things would be okay.
But he knew they weren't.

Breezefire walked out into the opening, feeling the sun bathe onto her fur. She padded to get some prey, a shrew will do well. She thought. After finishing her meal, she walked back into her den and realized she needed more dock. As she walked out into the open, she thought that something felt off. Lesser noise from the nursery. What happened? She dropped the idea of going to get more herbs and quietly walked into the nursery, realizing that Brookkit wasn't there. Panic flooded through her. No! I've failed my clan. I didn't keep him safe. Where did she go? Breezefire plunged into the forest, determined to find Brookkit and save him before he died.

Galecloud opened her eyes, stretching her paws out and shuffling her position around her two ki- One's missing. It was like a bolt of thunder through the shecat and her eyes shot open. Her gaze landed on Chivekit without her brother curled next to her. "Brookkit!"

The sound of Galecloud yelling Brookkit woke up Antnose. She ran to the nursery. "What's going on?" She asked to Galecloud with a tone of worry. She looked around only to see that Brookit was missing. She froze in place.

Chivekit trembled in her nest, staring up at the distressed queen. "Galecloud... Where's Brookkit!?" She was beginning to worry about her brother, and the looks of terror every cat had didn't help one bit.

Beavertail hesitantly stepped outside the den, his eyes warily glancing towards the nursery where a large communion was underway. He knew: Another cat had joined the stars.
Despite this he tried to be hopeful. Maybe we haven't been hit by another murder... maybe they're just... celebrating? Beavertail cringed. That didn't sound very likely. Those screams weren't the excited kind.
