Nikko put his arm over him but stayed asleep. His nightmare was still going on and he luckily woke up when the thunder sounded like it was right above them. He closed his eyes and tried to fall asleep again being careful not to move too much so that he didn’t wake up his friend. He soon fell back asleep.

Kodi stayed nuzzled against Nikko and sleeping. He was focused on Nikko's heartbeat to keep him asleep. He didn't like thunder and he was trying to ignore the thunder and drown it out. He pulled the covers closer and over them. He opened one eye and looked up at Nikko now. He hummed as he watched his friend.

Nikko woke up as another thunderclap went off. He sighed and looked down at Kodi and smiled a little at him. “Hey.” He said smiling at him. “I thought for sure that you would still be asleep.” He said seeing that he had one eye open. It was still raining really hard and he wondered if it would ever let up.

Kodi smiled as he noticed that he was finally noticed as being awake. "Hey." He replied. "I was asleep but the thunder got loud again so I woke up and just decided that you look so innocent in your sleep." He explained as he watched Nikko. He also wondered if the storm would ever let up.

Nikko smiled at him. “Thanks but I think I am anything but innocent. I would still be in your pack otherwise.” He said to him. “But it was a bit of a misunderstanding so I guess I am still pretty innocent...” He said thinking about it. “Well, I am awake now too because there was no way I can sleep for long during this storm. It is much too loud. But it is really warm in this bed and I like it and want to stay here...” He said.

Kodi looked at him curiously. "What happened anyways?" He asked him. "My father never really told me what happened between you and the pack." He spoke as he rolled over so he was chest to chest with Nikko. He laid his head down and waited for him to explain the story. "Yes." He yawned. "I might be able to eventually fall back asleep if the storm quiets." He spoke as he nuzzled in close. "It really is warm here..."

Nikko looked at him. “I really don’t want you to hate me for what happened... I really didn’t mean for things to happen like they did.” He said and sighed. “Your father and I got in a bit of a disagreement. There was a rouge and I knew that I couldn’t do it alone and that we needed to work with other packs to be able to get him out and then he lunged at me for overstepping and instinctively, I fought back. I was just trying to keep everyone alive and safe and it ended up with me fighting the alpha and clearly I didn’t win. He didn’t end me so I guess he realized that I was not totally trying to overthrow him but after that, most of the pack hated me and he kicked me out.” Nikko said looking at him. “But to be clear, I really never wanted to hurt your father and I didn’t. I was smart enough to only use defensive moves.” He said looking at him. “That is the whole story and as for the storm, I agree with you. It quieting down so we could sleep would be nice but I am fine with keeping the rain so you can actually get some sleep and not have to go back right away.” He said looking at him.

Kodi nodded and listened to his story. When he was done he tilted his head and spoke. "I heard about that incident from my father. I had been out of the territory at the time but when I came back he told me what happened but he didn't phrase it like you did. He said he needed to kick out a dangerous rogue for overstepping his boundaries and attacking him. He said that you were planning to kill him and take over the pack and you were very offensive. He said he only let you live because you would stay out of the territory and cut his work load looking for rogues and sending them away." Kodi explained to him as he watched him. "Yes, if the thunder could go away it would be nice and we could sleep." He explained.

Nikko nodded. “I am not surprised that he was saying stuff like that but that is not totally how it happened. I was just trying to protect myself from him hurting me. He never really liked me and I just tried to help and it turned out bad. I was not trying to overthrow your father. I would never want to do that. He has done so much for me and I don’t hate him at all but he kind of lied to you. I am not who he says I am.” He said and shrugged. “But there is nothing I can do about it so I just live here in the shadows.” He said looking at him. He wondered what he thought of him now that he knew what had really happened. He hoped that he didn’t look down on him now because of it because he was really enjoying having a friend. More roars of thunder went on.

Kodi smiled. "Yeah, my father tends to lie to get the effect that he wants. The pack has been constantly evolving since you were kicked out. Females are given less rights and respect. Gays are persecuted and hated on and threatened to be kicked out if they do not change." He explained to him. "I hate it but I cannot do anything about it unless I become alpha but to become alpha I need to marry the female but I don't want to marry the female because I am as gay as a rainbow and I don't want to be the dominant mate. I want to be the submissive one..." He revealed softly, hiding his face against Nikko with a soft whine.
