Applications will close in approximately 24 hours. After closing, it will probably take us about a week to select the new moderators.

If there's anyone still considering the position, time to make your decision and apply if you want to :)

@ Sherbet: yes of course you can edit your application

What date did you register as a CS member?: (if it's less than 8 months ago, do not apply) Tue. March 16, 2010
How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): (if it's less than 300, do not apply)4,952
Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval: (If you don't know what I'm talking about, read the first post again)I am very mature and have always been a responsible and helpful person. I am extremely close to being 18, if I can say that...or does it give too much away? I'll change it if you need me too :D
How many days a week do you usually visit CS?:I am on every day.
How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit? At least 8 hours. Probably more.
Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them. Yes: http://kritter-kingdom.com
Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS?: I have learned alot about CS, I have browsed all the forum topics and seen what the moderators do. I love websites and have designed a few of my own. I have seen the mods cleaning up forums and helping people out, and I enjoy helping people. I'd also like to help keep CS a clean, safe, child-friendly website. I am a patient, understanding person. I would never flip out on someone. I am very good at keeping a cool head in the worst sitiuations, and I am very good at sorting things out. I would never be afraid to discipline people for doing wrong, but I would be careful never to be too harsh. I am an all together helpful, caring, good person with a lot of respect and understanding for others. I can be strict too, don't take me wrong! I've really never had any enemies on CS...most of the people I talk to like me I suppose :D I love CS and all of it's members, and again: I absolutely love helping people!
Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example do you speak any other languages, or have you had any experience in peer mediation?)Well, I am currently learning German...and I hope to be learning other languages soon as well.

Hiya Tess!

APPLICATION

1. What date did you register as a CS member?: September 25, 2008

2. How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): 3,124 posts

3. Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval: I believe I am mature enough to deal with anything that comes my way, even though I am underage. My best friends are my neighbors, who are a couple years older than me. Because of this and my personality I have always felt older and more mature then my peers. Also because of my older friends adult content does not bother me in the least. There is not much that I haven't dealt with before in my (old) public high school, either. Like I have helped (just by being talking and being there for them) a couple of friends who were being bullied and sent inappropriate material.

4. How many days a week do you usually visit CS? Every day of the week, of course. (:

5. How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit? Not including this past month, at least 3-7 hours a day. (I've been sick on and off) I go to cyber school, so I usually visit in between classes, too. On Saturdays I've spent a good 10-12 hours here. Even on my absolutely busiest days I can spend a good 2 hours on CS. It may just be in 6, 20 minute intervals.

6. Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them No, I haven't. I spend too much of my time here to mod anywhere else. xD If I'm going to make a serious commitment like that I want to make 100% sure I can follow through with it.

7. Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS? Wow, I've wanted this for so long it’s hard for me to put in words, but I’ll take a shot at it. I absolutely adore CS and I would be honored to do anything and everything to help out. Since I enjoy spending so much of my time here it would be a dream come true to have an actual job, especially a job as important as a Global Moderator.
Chicken Smoothie is part of my daily routine and has been for quite sometime. From my first adoption I was hooked, and have been addicted to CS ever since. But I soon learned that it is more than just the adorable adoptables that made this website great, it is the people. I feel like I can give it my all in helping to guide and protect the CS community and help to keep everything running smoothly. I love helping out members who ask questions or seem a little lost. Many, many times I have PMed detailed responses to members who have asked questions on the forums. I have also PMed members who seem like they are stuck or members that could use a little guidance.
I watched a once small, young website blossom into a wonderful, huge community that's gaining new members every day. I feel like I have grown up with CS in the past few years and am ready to handle this job. I've had my fair share of people lashing out at me and I always respond calmly and respectfully. Two wrongs never make a right. Some people choose to dislike me just because of the number of pets I have, so I am used to it. I have accepted that not everyone is going to like me, all I can do is be polite not sweat the small stuff. Although, I think I am a generally like-able person. I have never had any real "enemies" and I always stay out of drama (in RL too). And in the past few years I have had a multitude of experiences with all sorts of people in jobs I have taken over the summers, which is perfect prerequisite for this position.
There is also a lot of freedom in my cyber school. So, between classes I often times stop in just to surf the forums. It is one of my favorite pastimes, very enjoyable and relaxing for me.

8. Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) Well, maybe I could offer a few small skills. I am starting my 2nd year of Spanish, which I will continue to study. I think I could be effective in spotting art theft too, since I am an artist myself. And this is nothing big but I was "captain" of the 14 girls on my Volleyball team for 2 years in a row. I was the setter and helped hold the team together.

Thanks for taking the time to read my application and I hope I'm considered for the position. I know your eyes are probably burning from reading all of these applications. xD

Good luck to all who entered. C:

Re: Global Moderators - Now Hiring! CLOSING SOON!

1. What date did you register as a CS member?:
October 2008

2. How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): (if it's less than 300, do not apply)
3533

3. Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval: (If you don't know what I'm talking about, read the first post again)
Yes.

4. How many days a week do you usually visit CS?

Every day usually. Even if it's only for 15 minutes.

5. How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
Probably 5 per day average. More or less depending on the day of the week and what I have going on, but at least 5 most days.

6. Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them
No. It is something I've wanted to try my hand at for a few years. Here is the place where I would like to start as I enjoy the community here. Good and bad parts.

7. Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS?
As I said, it's something I have wanted to do for a while. I spend many hours here just reading posts and I try to be helpful when I can for those that look like they need assistance. I really enjoy this site and I'm proud of watching it grow.

8. Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example do you speak any other languages, or have you had any experience in peer mediation?)

I'm not good at 'tooting my own horn' so to speak so while my application may not be flowery, I would hope that my actions on the forums over the years would be a better indication of whether or not I am suitable for this job. I like to think of myself as a fair person.
I worked middle management for a while so I know full well the ins and outs of peer mediation. Working with kids right out of high school takes a lot of patience.
What I may lack in skill, ability or knowledge, I can follow direction.

How many posts have you made in the forum (at the time of applying): 382
Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval: Absolutely
How many days a week do you usually visit CS? Usually every day; I even check forum posts on my phone while I'm at work and have a bit of downtime
How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit? Collectively 2-4 depending on how active the forums are
Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them Global moderator for the Georgia Furs message board http://www.georgiafurs.com/forum/index.php
Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS? It seems like a lot of fun! As a trainer in my line of work, too, I'm good at peer mediation as well as remaining professional in sticky situations.
Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example do you speak any other languages, or have you had any experience in peer mediation?): Peer mediator at work and trainer (I'm excellent at explaining things to people with problems and slow learners). I also co-coordinate art things for a local convention in my area that had 1,500 visitors last year (also helped out for brief periods in our hospitality suite).

Re: Global Moderators - Now Hiring! CLOSING SOON!

1. What date did you register as a CS member?:
I registered in November of 2008.
2. How many posts have you made in the forum:
Currently, I have made 4,167 posts in various forums.
3. Without posting your age, are you old enough (and willing) to risk seeing adult content when screening posts that are waiting for moderator approval:
Yes, I am. I'm not longer at a point to flinch when I see or hear certain graphic things. I'm past the legal age of adulthood in the United States. Adult content doesn't bother me and I don't mind having to sort through it at all or view it. ^^
4. How many days a week do you usually visit CS?
I visit CS every single day of the week.
5. How many hours per day do you usually spend on CS, on a day that you do visit?
At least 3-4 hours, but maybe more. I lurk in a lot of boards, watching certain topics or just working on art.
6. Have you moderated on any other forums before? If so, please link to them
Not really. ^^;
7. Now the important question: Why do you want to be a moderator for CS?
I really love CS and all it stands for. I know it may sound a bit corny, but I truly do enjoy the community here and want to help make it an even better place. I've noticed a lot of new users registering lately, and I would love to help guide them and the existing users and monitor interactions. I like being useful as well; I don't want to always take and never give, so becoming a MOD would be a way for me to help others and give support to Chickensmoothie, like other users gave me when I had questions or complaints.
8. Can you think of any particular skills you can bring to the position (this is not required) (for example do you speak any other languages, or have you had any experience in peer mediation?)
I don't mind dealing with fights, and I'm very open minded. I believe each story has two sides and you need to look at both carefully before you make a decision. So, in cases where a fight breaks out, I generally tend to wait for both sides to speak up before making a decision. Even back when I ran the Agency and small skirmishes would break out, I always tried to handle them in a way so that no one was completely unhappy. However, I also realize that there are instances when action needs to be taken, and certain things can't be smoothed over with a few typed words. People are people, especially on CS where there are a lot of younger users that might not be as mature as others. On the same note, I don't really care or brood over angry PMs I receive. I kind of just shrug them off. Everyone has the right to their own opinion, and I'm not going to snap back if they word it in a vicious way.
There are only 3 minor things that I can think of that might help me as a MOD, if even a little; I speak a limited amount of Spanish (very limited XD- just enough to let me travel to Ecuador and survive). Also, I have some basic understanding of U.S. laws, since I'm in a curriculum that deals with all aspects of the law, including threats and computer regulations. And finally, as someone who makes art myself, I can generally pick up on art theft a little faster, and I'm used to searching for references, so if someone isn't giving credit where credit is do, I will be able to know if I look into it.
