Lilith ran into the night, dark storm clouds swirling ahead and threatening to swallow her. She dived forward into the churning waves of the inky black ocean, ignoring the cries behind her. She pushed herself faster, farther. The farther she got, the better. Her family betrayed her. She disappeared into the night, never to return to her home again.

Totoro sniffed through the crowd. "Excuse me, excuse me, coming through!" He said. The crowd seemed to shrink away from him in disgust. There was silence, then murmurs broke out. Totoro could hear them all. No matter how painful they were.
"Eww, why's he like that?" or "What is he doing here?" They were all things he heard everyday. No matter where he went, it was the same old responses. He sighed, used to it, but carried on.

When he arrived home, he noticed a bunch of cars parked outside. There was balloons that said Happy Birthday! We love you!.
He cocked his head to the side, it was his sister's birthday, but he didn't remember that there was a big meeting. When he unlocked the door and stepped into the house, he was immediately blinded with flashing lights and the smell of strangers. They were all dancing and prancing.

That's when it hit him. It was a birthday party. A party for his sister. His eyes welled up with tears and he ran to his room. The guests didn't seem to notice him as they were all caught up in the moment. He slammed the door shut and fell on his bed. He didn't understand. Why would they host a birthday party for Layla? Just why? They don't know what she's doing. They don't know that she's stealing their money to go out with her friends to these expensive places. But of course they didn't know. They blamed everything on him. Heck, they didn't even remember my birthday. I was deformed, a disgrace to the family.

I'm jealous. Everyone else is normal. I'm jealous.

Extra: Darkfish is a depressed, sad soul. He spends his days in the water, watching all the ocean life swim by. He wishes he could be like them, but because his species is so rare, he cannot. Jealousy easily overcomes him, and he believes it's one of his worst traits. He truly does hate being a carnivore, because he hates to kill things.

He once tried to starve himself, only eating the algae and plant life on the seafloor. It didn't go well, though, and he developed major depression. The only thing that really gets him through life is his Jellyfish friend, Doot. Doot follows him everywhere, giving him advice and calming him down when he has panic attacks. He sits with Darkfish in the bottom of the ocean and watches the ocean-life go by, admiring how they live. Darkfish's favorite ocean animal is probably the Magnapinna, because of how unique it is.

Long tentacles, reaching up to 30 ft, brushes up against the sea floor to look for plankton and other organisms, trapping them in its many tentacles. Every time Darkfish has the honor to see one, he tenses up and just stares. Doot can feel the tension, and stares with him. He truly does appreciate the ocean and everything in it.

Some days, when he's feeling particularly adventurous, he will swim to the shallow pools, close to land. He watches the humans from afar and makes assumptions of their lifestyle based on how they act. He always wonders where the humans came from, and how they breathe on land. Doot can't come with him because of the ocean pressure, and stays below. When he has the chance, Darkfish crawls onto land and takes a seashell, the prettiest one he can find, and brings it with him back to his home to show Doot, because he has never been above the Twilight Zone. He sometimes spots other Neptunas, gliding through the water with their sleek, finned tails. Jealousy begins to overcome him as he glares at his stub of a tail. His eyes sadden and he begins to swim back down to his home, deep below the ocean. He mainly has to use his front and back legs, because his tail really does nothing to help him swim.

Other Neptunas have teased and laughed at him about his tail from a distance before. He never really thought much of it's shape until then, and has been self concious ever since. He stares as they swim through the water, throwing him pitiful glances every once in awhile. When they are out of eyesight, he continues down deeper into the dark water. ;;

Okay FIRST OF ALL I really loved all the entries! I adored sitting down and just... reading these. You're all amazing writers! I hated having to pick one as the winner, but I had to ;v; BUT ALSO THERE'S AN HM SYSTEM AAAAA
