Does this snake enjoy basking underneath the heat lamp or do they prefer to warm up under a hide instead? Why?: Pith definitely loves being under a nice heat lamp. The constant warmth allows her to shift around whenever she feels like doing so, so she's equally comfortable with curling up or laying out straight. It gives her energy to explore her home, especially whenever her owner takes her out of her cage.

But, that isn't to say that she's adverse to a dark hidey hole. Stromae tends to prefer those dark, dry places, and she enjoys being able to curl up with him in his own little hiding spots. The larger snake doesn't seem to mind her clingy-ness. Much.

Does this snake enjoy basking underneath the heat lamp or do they prefer to warm up under a hide instead? Why?: Dizzi prefers to warm up under her favourite hide. To her it's the snake equivalent of snuggling under a duvet. It makes her feel safe and protected and of course warm.

Why?: wasp absolutely loves to seek his warmth from deep inside the reaches of his hide. he likes it inside the fake hollow log. He loves to feel the warmth from his heating pad radiating up through the substrate and into his belly. And to top it all off, his hide is just small enough that he feels as if the world can't reach him inside, which is a positive for a snake as shy as he.

Very shy and unsure of himself, he uses this tactic to try and bolster his self confidence, though it rarely works.

His clutchmates were all drabber than he, so he was showered with attention as a hatchling. However, due to his shyness, this made him antsy and he sought refuge.
