I pause as he starts, my mind still catching up with the fact he'd done a fast count. As I start, a smirk dances on my lips. I dip slightly under the water, submerged, but only just.

Kiron was almost there. He looked behind and saw Ria. He almost freaked out but kept swimming.

I gulp breaths in as if they were my last, my speed slowly declining. I'm not very good at speed swimming, but had been hoping Kiron wasn't as good either. Just my luck that I was wrong. Though, it won't be such a bad thing if he wins... I blush at the thought.
