He's based on the legend of koi swimming up a waterfall, and being turned into a dragon by the gods once they reach the top.

His name is Shigemi, and he goes by Shi. He lives in a lagoon on a deserted island, and doesn't know anything of the world beyond his home. He wants most of all to travel and see everything he's never seen.
