I just got a $100 gift card for Gamestop as a belated birthday gift from my dad, I earned another $100 from my grandmother for behaving at a conference, and they were going to give me $50 for my birthday, so that's $250 total. Ordinarily I would save it for a Switch, but considering my dad's suggestion of using the gift card for some games on my Wii U, because the Switch isn't backwards compatible, I'm torn between saving it for a Switch and Splatoon 2/Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, or some games for the Wii U I've been wanting to get for a while. My dad does have a point about one thing though, whenever a new system comes out, I feel like throwing my old system out the window and replacing it with the new one. I haven't played on either of my Wii's since the Wii U came out, I don't use my DS Lite other than for transferring Gen III to Gen VII, and god knows how long it's been since I used my SNES. My point is, and I'm fairly certain a lot of people could agree that when a new system comes out, you immediately feel like replacing your old system with the new one. Looking on GameStop's website, there aren't that many games I'm interested it, so I might save it for a Switch

Good god that took me forever to type up

I get you I feel like that often, more so with Nintendo consoles than anyone else as they're usually so quick to stop publishing games for their older consoles as soon as a new one comes out.
I suppose with the old consoles I like to have them around (Especially my wii, because it doubles as my gamecube ) but if you are just straight up never going to use them it could be worth selling them or trading them in for something and then you've earned yourself a little more money that you could use for either choice???

I dont know if it will help your decision but I thought i'd put it out there for the club, If you have Amazon prime you save 20% on switch games and switch pre-orders.

Oh yeah, I'm not going to get rid of my Wii U and Wii U games, although with $250 already in my pocket, trading them in at GameStop could probably put me over the edge for a Switch. I was thinking about getting BOTW for my Wii U, but I'm falling out of Zelda again. Also, my grandmother does have Prime, but I won't be able to use the GameStop card for that. Another reason I'm not too keen on ditching my Wii U is because I don't know if the Switch has a YouTube app, and I watch most of my Google Play videos on my Wii U, which has better resolution than my computer.

The switch does not have a youtube app I'm afraid.
Which imo is a bit of a bummer.

There are some ways to access Youtube on the switch, but eventually I'm sure it will be added onto it.
In my opinion, I'd say go for the switch. It's a hot item and I'd say it's totally worth it, I love mine and its portability. Wii U games may end up coming over the the Switch within time, but the system is pretty much dead. The Switch is proving to be popular, so expect a large library over time. I'd say it'd be smarter to invest in something that you can get more life out of than an older console that isn't pumping out new games anymore.

Besides, if you still own the Wii U (unless you're trading it for that extra $50?) you can use Youtube for that. I'd say the switch is worth the investment. And if you aren't sure still, save the money while you decide.

When Sax said there wasn't a YouTube app on the Switch, I decided to keep the Wii U and look for a job. The only job I've ever had was at Six Flags, and it was for their Halloween event, not the entire season, so I didn't get much. Technically I have another $400 from my financial aid refund, but my parents, my grandparents, and most importantly my wife want me to use it for next semester's classes, but I'm not going to. If I can somehow beg convince my grandmother to let me use the refund along with my $250, that'd be more than enough to get the Switch and a game or two.

@Geowlett; Drought does not disable water type moves. Only the ability that Groudon gets in its Primal form does that I believe. Drought just puts sun up right away and weakens water attacks

Yes, that tree is big enough for the town to be sold
