Scientist however have found enough viable samples of bones and DNA at a dig site around the Saharan desert to bring these species back from extinction. In multiple lab sites across the globe have been growing and breeding Fenlin's, and over these years the population has now gone from extinct to the level of critically endangered.
In recent news highly regulated wildlife reserves are currently bringing in Fenlin's to accumulate them back into the wild, however there is still concern among many with introducing a extinct species into a new ecosystem. Currently Fenlin's are now being adopted out to worthy candidates to raise and continue to grow the population.

Fenlin's, or what most people call "Fen's" for short, are quite
rambunctious and adventurous. They naturally love the outdoors and
hunting for small game such as mice, birds, and rabbits. From their
preexisting habitat before they were extinct they lived in more
temperate and cool climates compared to their fennec fox
decedents.
Fen's can live up to their early 20's if taken care of properly.
Their size is comparable to a current day red fox, and their
fur is quite denser compared to any other existing vulpes species
today. Their fur in some places, especially the cheeks, tends
to grow rapidly and is matted up quickly unless it is taken care
of by fastening it back. Fen's are mostly active at dusk and dawn,
preferring to sleep during the dead of night and in midday.
Due to trying to bring back the species from extinction, there is bound to be occasional mutations in Fenlin genetics. Here are the currently list of mutations and their rarities that can be seen in Fen's.
Fen's will ALWAYS have tufts of fur fastened back and will ALWAYS have abnormally large ears
