I think I'm going to modify the training section on the front page so the apprentices have to learn all of the skills that Art mentioned earlier. I think knowing how to climb,
Hunt, fight and swim isn't enough anymore XD
@Art
I use to just randomly pick a herb off of the wiki, or if they already had the list of all the herbs on their form, I would pick whatever they already didn't have. I've started to use randomizers more
@Everyone
I used the winter kitting statistics on Seed a few days ago for the first time!!! I put in all of the options, except the option where figfur would die since Seed needs her for plot. I randomized it 10 times and used the first one on the list. Out of a little of 4 kits, a number I also randomized, only one kit died

@skills: I agree with amethyst in that different territories require different skills. I think that the two required skills should be hunting and fighting. Territories with trees should require climbing, territories with large bodies of water should require swimming and/or fishing, and territories with very open spaces should require running and/or speed. Stalking, tracking, and stealth should be optional and tacked on after all the basic skills have been learned. Then, herb recognition would be med. cat apprentice only. Finally, after an apprentice learns the basic skills required for their clan, the random number generator should determine if they learn a new skill or become more advanced in a previous skill. For example, Forestclan requires hunting, fighting, and climbing as basic skills, with stalking, tracking, and stealth being "common" but not required because presumably, the apprentice has already learned those skills. The random number generator could do something like this for Forestclan based on my required, common, uncommon, and rare skills list:
- hunting (2)
- fighting (2)
- climbing (2)
- tracking
- tracking
- stealth
- stealth
- swimming
- fishing
The (2) would symbolize an extra level of mastery, so an apprentice whose skills look like this: hunting, fighting, climbing, tracking, stealth, would be well-rounded while an apprentice whose skills look like this: hunting (2), fighting, climbing, tracking (2), would have clearly specialized more in hunting and tracking than other skills, even though they've learned everything that was required.
Does this make sense?

@art: Thank you!
Also, I'm in a bit of a dilemma. Because Forestclan is a decideous forest with a river and several streams crossing through it, there are far more than 6 types of prey that can be found there. In fact, everything can be found there. Here is what I was thinking of for my prey list:
Bird | x0 | 3 servings
Fish (tiny) | x0 | 1 serving
Fish (small) | x0 | 2 servings
Fish (large) | x0 | 3 servings
Frog | x0 | 1 serving
Hare | x0 | 3 servings
Mouse | x0 | 1 serving
Rabbit | x0 | 2 servings
Shrew | x0 | 1 serving
Squirrel | x0 | 2 servings
Stoat | x0 | 2 serving
Vole | x0 | 1 serving
Of course, I actually have food right now, but this is what it would look like with no servings of prey. Is that acceptable?
