Honeystar turned back to Emberstar. Hadn't she already answered the question? Well, she could answer it again if she had. "Duckpelt gave birth to four healthy kits a couple of moons ago, and we've had a couple of newcomers to the clan. I think I've already told you about Alderclaw," she said.

Birchnose winced. "I'm glad that they're okay," she said. "Have you been able to catch enough prey? So far, we have, but I'm worried about the kits."

Acornstream grinned. "Three mollies and one tom," he said. "The tom is Adderkit and the mollies are Boulderkit, Barleykit, and Dustkit. They're all brown tabbies, but Adderkit, Dustkit, and Barleykit have some white. They've just learned to talk, and love my apprentice, Applepaw. He says that he doesn't like them very much, but I'm not so sure."

"Agreed," said Briarwhisker and Dawnstorm together in response to Birchwing. They looked at each other and finally, Briarwhisker sighed.

"It would be terrible if some were treated as better than others," said Briarwhisker. "That would probably make some resentful, and the clan might fall apart. I'm glad that Honeystar is just and fair."

"Just because you've never seen a Starclan cat, doesn't mean they don't exist," said Applepaw. "I've never seen one either, but I'm sure that they're there. And don't you believe that you'll see your clanmates after death?" He glanced over to Carppaw, and his whiskers twitched with indecision. Should they... No, he didn't know how she would react. And besides, this back-and-forth was fun.

"Well, how about we agree to disagree, since I don't think that we'll ever be able to prove or disprove Starclan's existence until death," Applepaw said finally. He thought that it would be better to stop now (though he had enjoyed it) than have a brawl break out, since Russetpaw seemed shocked and mildly insulted. Or maybe he would just stay out of that conversation if it continued.

foxstar heard two leaders talking about a certain blossomclan. thinking of how mapleclan came to be, the ginger tom thought it'd be nice to talk to them. the young leader approached the pair and greeted them with a meow. "hello. i'm sorry for joining in on the conversation, but i couldn't help but overhear you talking about a disappeared clan. it made me think of brookclan, my old clan. have you perhaps heard of them?"

smokeleaf walked over to the other medicine cats, the new warrior, doveflight coming along. the silver tabby seemed to enjoy his company, and the feeling was mutual. he didn't go to the last gathering since briarleap was heavily pregnant, so he hoped that he would make some friends. the grey long-haired tom curled his tail around his paws, doveflight sitting down beside him.

littlestep let out a loud purr, and tigerpaw smiled at the thought of the three bundles of fur briarleap brought to life. "kits are such adorable little things. i hope she delivers safely with the bad season coming along." the black molly frowned of worry for the queen she didn't even know. of course, on the inside, she didn't care at all. tigerpaw, however, did seem truthfully concerned.

Sorrelstar was a bit too tired tonight to care much about the appearances, or rather the lack of them, that she usually took so much pride in. Tonight would have been one of making allies, or what was it that she had called them when everything was all well and good? Friends? The she-cat couldn't help but snort at her younger self's forced foolishness. So over the top. But with the death of her former deputy weighing of her mind, she didn't feel much like making merry or even putting up a semblance of such. Not to mention the pending problem of Barkknot. The Beechclan leader was going to have to watch how she acted around Jaystar if she wanted her daughter to live. Jaystar never did like my trickery. Probably felt threatened, huh. The she-cat allowed herself to contemplate this conundrum as she lept atop the leader's rock, her stance rather clearly aloof.

{Sorrelstar- Leader's Perch, Open}

"Now the two of you behave yourselves. It's your first gathering so make your father, mother, and I proud okay?" "Sure dad- we won't cause any ruckus! None at all!" Dunpond raised an amused eyebrow at his youngest daughter's promise. The ever-present mischievous twinkle in her eyes had not been dimmed at all be the solemnity of the night. Which was good, let the pair of them have their fun. "I'll watch her," Sandkit told his father seriously, as was his way. "Well maybe cause a bit of ruckus- you're only 'paws for so long. Go have fun." And with the playful flick of their father's tail dismissing them, the pair disappeared into the crowd, and Dunpond went to take his place beneath the leader's perch.

{Dunpond- Beneath Leader's Perch, Open}

"She's upset?" Sandpaw gave Mistpaw a genuinely baffled look. "I didn't know...why is she upset?" The tom was confused, very confused. And there was a nagging pulling in his stomach that wanted him to go search out his sister. Worry and guilt, though he could not identify them, wriggled inside of Sandpaw and made him nauseous. And Tigerpaw's words were only compounding the problem. "Stop yelling at me! I don't know things! You're making my stomach hurt!" He folded in on himself, clutching his belly fur. The gaze of another she-cat, Russetpaw he thought her name was, bored into him and his fur just got hotter.

{Sandpaw- Applepaw, Russetpaw, Ivypaw, Mistpaw, Tigerpaw}

Stupid Sandpaw. Stupid Sandpaw! Tonight was supposed to have been fun! But then her brother had forced her to talk to cats when she didn't want to, and then opened up his stupid mouth and said all the wrong things. She had hit him and he still didn't get it and now she looked bad! She also felt horrible for how she treated him, but for the moment the sobbing she-cat was too devoted to her self-pity to spare time on her brother. Stupid Sandpaw!

{Carppaw- Open}

Pigeonpaw had decided to stick by Malloweyes for her first gathering since Asptail wouldn't take her. The elder harbored mixed feelings on this, on one paw she had ample time to drive a deeper wedge between the apprentice and her mentor, but on the other she was no longer free to do any converting. Cackling and plotting murders would certainly disillusion her little puppet. "It really is too bad Asptail couldn't find the time to spare on you. A first gathering really is a monument. Oh well, we'll have our own fun won't we?" Pigeonpaw nodded enthusiastically up at her idol, who's returning grin was especially patronizing. Besides Malloweyes, Sharkfang was restless. He kept sheathing and unsheathing his claws with great impatience. "Looking for her hmm?" "Of course." "Well tell her the good news once you find her, I have a little one to mind." Malloweyes dismissed her ally with a flick of her well-groomed tail and Sharkfang shot off readily.

{Malloweyes & Pigeonpaw- Open}

"Sounds thrilling. Pawns and plans and such. To much thinking, not enough fighting for me though thank you very much," Sharkfang laughed. He'd done his duty carrying Malloweyes's message- now he was free to enjoy himself. He grinned his shark-like grin down at the two apprentices. "I'm Sharkfang. And you two had better be naughty 'cause I eat good little children!" The tom swiped a playful paw at Bouncepw and Shiverpaw as he purred his teasing warning. Brushing his nose up against Thistlethorn's cheek he mewed, "Let's follow up on that thought sometime soon shall we?"

"Honeyfur!" Momomoon rose to her paws as soon as she saw her friend, stepping towards her and nuzzling the medicine cat in greeting. Frostsong made an, "Oooh," noise but the she-cat just giggled and stuck her tongue out at him. "This is Frostsong! He's my best friend! Frostsong this is Honeyfur she's uh-" "The she-cat you were telling me about I presume?" The white tom had a mischievous grin on his muzzle, and while Momomoon flushed in protest she didn't actually mind.

Applepaw was now very worried. "Should we get a medicine cat?" he asked the others, ready to do so himself. He looked over through the crowd of cats, wondering where the medicine cats were. It was a pity that Crowcloud had stayed back. But it would probably be hard to find him anyways. To Sandpaw, he said, "I think that you should go ask Carppaw why she's so upset. That might be the best way to clear things up."

"LeafClan is doing well, thank you. We recently had five kits become apprentices, so the warriors certainly have their paws full mentoring them all," she chuckled. "How are your Clans faring?"

"Yes, prey has been good for us, and I'm glad it has been so for you as well." He then nodded when Birchnose mentioned kits. "We have some on the way, I believe. I just hope it won't be too hard of a birth since it will be in leaf-bare."

"Ah, okay. So this is your first Gathering? Do you like it?" Willowcloud queried. She loved to meet cats from the new Clans and help them out if they needed anything.

"Great, thanks!" Appleheart purred. "How are you doing?"

Birchwing nodded. "They should be making their announcements soon, shouldn't they?"

Heatherpaw squealed with delight which made Breezeclaw roll her eyes. While the apprentice undoubtedly loved kits, the young warrior wanted nothing to do with them. "That's wonderful!" Heatherpaw mewed. "Five of LeafClan's kits just became apprentices. It's kinda sad, but I hear there's more on the way," she giggled, thinking of the new mates, Daisyskip and Crowstorm.

Dewpaw held both his head and tail low as he slowly followed his sister and her friend - at a reasonable distance - into the clearing. It was his first Gathering, but he wasn't going to be able to enjoy it, not with Russetpaw here. Unsure of what to do with himself, he slunk off to the edge of the clearing, away from the crowd.

Ivypaw gave a slight nod to Applepaw's question. "That would be a good idea." Russetpaw stared at Sandpaw, frowning, feeling guilt at the poor sight of him. Normally she would be one to gladly continue an argument, but not when the other was acting as he was now. The ginger tabby carefully took a couple steps toward the BeechClan apprentice and said softly, "I'm sorry, Sandpaw. Are you okay?"

The Gustclan kits arrived rather late at the gathering, which seemed to be becoming almost a tradition with them. Actually, most of the other cats present already seemed to be deep into whatever they had decided to engage themselves with, or rather, deep into conversation with whomever they'd decided to engage themselves with.
They didn't really have much chance getting well into anything.

Harrierpelt easily broke away from the group, heading over to the other medicine cats. He was looking for anyone who'd be willing to share herbs, and if anyone asked, that was all he was looking for. But he was also hoping to find someone who could- hopefully unknowingly!- help comfort him about the loss of his kit. The first death in Gustclan just had to be his own kit, didn't it?
Even just the thought of what had happened was making a hard lump seem to rise in his throat, and a heavy paw seem to grasp his heart. No one should have had to have died, let alone his kit.

Droserapaw stood awkwardly close to his brother. "Come on, Shellpaw! There's loads of other cats there and we're going to need to know them!"
"You go... There's so many of them, I just wouldn't know who to talk to or how to talk to them!" Shellpaw looked upwards at a few stars. "I'm happy on my own, but you can talk to them if you want."
Droserapaw still gently tried to nudge his brother into talking to the other apprentices. He didn't want to leave his brother alone, scared that another cat might come along and tease him, or that he'd become disoriented and confused, or that he'd get lost because he was so focused on looking at the stars, or that he'd touch something poisonous with his weird habit of pawing at leaves. At the same time, Droserapaw didn't want to miss out on the chance to meet other cats their age. He was left doing a weird, almost circling routine around his brother, trying to persuade him to stop being so asocial.

Heronstar had decided to bring along her two sons to this gathering, so they could see one well in advance of earning their warrior names and ranks. As usual, Shellpaw was being awkward, so Heronstar kept a watchful eye on them as she headed over to the other leaders.

Argusheart and Myrtleclaw walked together away from the other Gustclan cats.
"I'm not really sure how to act after him. I mean, he's my first apprentice, how am I meant to know how to act?"
"You'll do fine, Myrtleclaw, stop fussing. If you want advice, I suggest not doing it while at a gathering, and instead waiting until we start to head back? We're meant to be making alliances not taking tips."
Myrtleclaw gave Argusheart a slightly affronted look before walking away from her towards the others.

All are technically open (and prepare for awkwardness if you choose to interact with my apprentices XD)... but I think the gathering is ending before too long? Feel free to respond to any of these I guess though?
I'll probably just do announcements tomorrow as it is late and just rocking up immediately giving announcements and leaving is awkward even for Gustclan standards.

Birchnose purred. "Well, they can be difficult to care for, but I raised a friend's litter during the leafbare." Her face fell as she recalled the circumstances; the mother had been too sick to care for her kits and had died soon after birth, and the kits had scattered after they had grown up. "I'm sure that they'll all be healthy."

"Thank you," said Acornstream proudly. "And I hope that your kits will be healthy."

"Maybe? I don't know," said Dawnstorm quickly. "But I'm excited, 'cause you know, I've never been to a Gathering."

"I'm sure that it will be exciting," said Briarwhisker dryly. While it might be interesting to hear other clan's news, she doubted that anything too exciting would happen.

Applepaw twitched his ears in acknowledgement before racing off. He listened in on other cats' conversations, listening for anything related to herbs or other such matters. Finally, he found the medicine cats and ran up to the first he saw (Greypool). "Excuse me," he said, "but Sandpaw of Beechclan doesn't feel good and I want to make sure that he's okay. C'mon!" He started off, before looking back to make sure that the medicine cat was following.

Skystar - Female - Leader - With: Limpetstar - Feeling: Focused

Skystar motioned to another pair of cats, making sure Greypool saw her. She split off in the direction of Limpetstar, and watched as he fell with a stone-cold expression. "Hello?" She meowed, unsure of whether he needed help, he was clumsy, or just plain stupid. "Are you okay?" Skystar sat down, her tail laying over her own paws.

Greypool - Male - Medicine Cat - With: Applepaw - Feeling: Excited & Concerned

Greypool was slightly startled when Applepaw approached him, but nonetheless, he followed the apprentice, concern growing in his mind. Who was Sandpaw? What was Beechclan? As he was running, he managed to rip a pawful of leaves out of the ground in case he might need them to treat Sandpaw. "Hey, uh, what's wrong with them?"

"I see." Morningstar nodded. "Let's start announcements now." Stepping forward to address all the clans, he began, "Caveclan's been blessed by Starclan this past moon. A new queen, Larkfeather has joined us and Lilystem has moved into the nursery, expecting Chiveclaw's kits. Our apprentices have been doing wonderfully in their training and I expect several of them will be earning their warrior name shortly. We'd like to extend an offer of alliances to Sedgeclan. That is all." He moved back to let the next leader speak.

The two she-cats sat together at the edge of the clearing to keep an eye on the apprentices. Mistpaw was almost a warrior so they weren't all that worried about her. Her mentor Chiveclaw had told them Mistpaw was ready to go to the gathering without him so Rowanfur and Dappleleaf focused their attention on the younger two.

Mistpaw, Tigerpaw, tagged with Applepaw, Ivypaw, Russetpaw, Sandpaw, Carppaw

Mistpaw nodded, agreeing with Applepaw. Best to stop now before something happened. But it was too late for that. Sandpaw was having some kind of meltdown. Tigerpaw's eyes widened, shocked and worried. "I'm sorry," He apologized, "I didn't mean to upset you so much."
Mistpaw looked up, searching for the medicine cats. "Where do the medicine cats stay?" She murmured, giving Sandpaw a worried glance. She was about to go and get Cloudpool but Applepaw raced off before she could. "It'll be okay Sandpaw. Applepaw's gone to get help." She murmured soothingly to the young cat.
When Greypool and Applepaw returned, she looked up. "We were discussing the existence of Starclan and I think we overwhelmed him. He freaked out and is like this now. Can you help him?"

"I don't like land hunting all that much either. The molly agreed. "Fishing is much more fun." She smiled, excitement flashing in her eyes. "Dappleleaf's a great mentor. She promised to teach me how to swim later." Poppypaw purred.[/quote]
