Welcome to Scarlett Rose Stables


A large stable spread out about an hour from Lexington, Kentucky. This stable is unlike the others, for here we take horses from troubled homes, kill buyers and other problematic situations. We accept six young adults every two years, and these adults have had problems in their pasts, most having been troubled teens, or still are. We then give them an injured horse and let the cathartic nature of the horse heal the rider, and the rider's hidden, locked love and trust go to the horse. These adults are then given the opportunity to keep their rescues, or choose to give them to another person from the local area. The only qualifications for these adults is that they should have knowledge of riding, so as they do not hurt themselves when working with abused and rescued horses, no matter the trust they may earn, a horse is a horse, and Scarlett Rose Stables takes care to remember that. Each of these rescues are english discipline based, and so that is what they will be re-trained in/for. The adults must also care for the horses, cleaning their stalls, putting them out in the paddock, feeding, watering etc.., Each adult is housed at Scarlett Rose and they each get assigned their own cabin, which is situated near the stables. There is a main house as well where the owners sleep and where the adults can go to talk and relax with one another.

Stable Personnel

σωηεяs ;; Mr. and Mrs. Davis are the owners here at Scarlett Rose. Mr. Davis worked as a cross-country and show-jumping trainer before he opened Scarlett Rose with his wife at age 55. Mrs. Davis was a pleasure and dressage rider and instructor before meeting Mr. Davis and helped him open and run Scarlett Rose. These two gladly offer advice on the adults specific discipline choice if they are asked.

veтerιnarιan ;; Dr. Timothy Reed DVM is the local veterinarian that comes out at the end of every month at the stables expense to check each horse. He comes the beginning of the month when the new adults come in so he can explain feed, and check the horses.

ғarrιer ;; Ms. Felicia Harper is the farrier. She checks the horse's feet every 6-8 weeks as needed, and explains to the horse's trainer and potential owner what is on their feet.

ѕтaвle нand ;; Mr. Michael Lakey is the stable hand here at Scarlett Rose Stables, and he oversees the mucking of the stalls, along with many day-to-day tasks in the stable. He makes sure that each person cleans their tack correctly, cleans their horse correct and so on, so forth.

proғeѕѕιonal тraιner ;; Ms. Jane Hunter is the professional trainer hired by Scarlett Rose to come out every three months to check on the progress of the horses and their riders. She makes sure that each adult isn't ruining their horse and gives them tips on potential training exercises, but 99.9% of the training is up to the riders.

Competitions


Here at Scarlett Rose Stables, we hold our own mini-competitions every two months, on the first saturday. Each person shows off what they have completed with their horse within those two months. Each person will win, and be recognized for their work. This is the chance for these teens to really shine with how they've done.

First competition is set two months after they arrive.
