Nightstripe emerges from the warriors' den, his sleek black coat shimmering. Dewdrops dripped from the lichen that hung from the entrance to the stony den. He quickly made his way to the fresh-kill pile, and grabbed a plump vole.

The gray leader walked out of her den and saw Nightstripe eating a plump vole. She padded to the black tom and got herself a mouse. She began to rip it open asking Nightstripe "How's the prey running?'' The she-cat took a bite. Maybe it was not normal for a leader to eat with a normal warrior, but she was a bit lonely now, when Eagleheart, the old deputy died. "'Who do you think should be deputy?" The she-cat asked her warrior. She considered Nightstripe as a honarable warrior and a good friend. Again she took a bite of her mouse.

Nightstripe lifts his head, swallowing a mouthful of prey. He glances at the fresh-kill pile. "Low." He mews. The warrior decided he'd go hunting later to restock it. Wolfstar's words reminded him of their recently deceased deputy, Eagleheart, and he sighed. Nightstripe wanted to suggest himself. "I believe any warrior is fit for the position." He responds confidently, licking his whiskers.

"I think i should make the annoucement now." She gave the warrior a lick on the head and jumped on the log. "All cats who are old enough to catch their own prey, gather around."" The she-cat watched all warriors and apprentices walk out. ""It's time to appoint a new deputy. i say these words in front of Eagleheart. Nightstripe, good friend, will you be my deputy?" The she-cat waited what the tom would say.

Nightstripe pads over to the fallen tree, trotting swiftly over the marsh. Then he stops, and looks up. Did she just say Nightstripe? She's offering me the position of deputy? His pale eyes widen, and he finally smiles. "Of course." He mews, dipping his head respectfully to the she-cat.

"Then from this moment on, Nightstripe will be the new deputy of Scarclan." The she-cat dipped her head in respect too, seeing how happy he was. She jumped down from the log and told her deputy "So, time to organize a hunting parol, right?" The gray she-cat was sure she needed to help Nightstripe for a bit, because he just became deputy, and for most cats, it's a huge change. So it was for her though.

Nightstripe smiles and nods. "Yes." He mews, looking around. He was trying to decide who should go. "Which cats?" Nightstripe spoke after a few seconds, deciding he needed Wolfstar's help.

Shadowpaw's black muzzel emerges from the apprentices den, he blinked at the bright sunlight and shook the delicate dew drops off of his fur. great, just another boring day he thought, gingerly stepping outside, sitting in the back of the crowd ,waiting for his mentor.
