My only question is this. Why is Redpaw's tail so long? I mean, it doesn't seem to fit with the rest of him. It looks good, but it looks like it'll get stuck in something.

Redpaw has a long tail for the sake of looking cool, and also because Greensleeves already has a pretty short tail.
But also in case Greensleeves wanders off so Redpaw can just reel him back in.
