"Kasai, don't be mean to your brother." Darling scolded, pulling the tiny lioness away from her brother. Oti squeaked, snuggling closer to Darling's belly. Darling smiled down at her son before rasping a tongue over his ear. Adelaide was sleeping next to Darling, her swollen flank rising and falling steadily.

Mersey was watching the two queens closely, but he kept a respectable distance. "You can come over here, it's alright." Darling mewed. Mersey hesitated but slowly came over, sniffing at the two lion cubs. Darling watched him, a worried look on her face.

"I won't throw them out." Mersey informed her. "It's not their fault who their father was."

Binti lets out a squeak as her mother curls her body around the newborn cub. She hadn't met her father; he must be out. She wriggled when Mwanga rasps her tongue over Binti's fur before they both fell asleep.

Adelaide curled protectively around her three cubs, pulling her sick daughters closer to her than her son. "Adelaide." Mersey said quietly. "They're sick." The queen snarled up at the king, her tail lashing slightly.

"I know that, Mersey!" She growled before rasping her tongue over their heads. "They need to be taken care of, I'm not abandoning them."

"I didn't say that you should abandon them." Mersey mewed, touching his tail briefly to her shoulder. "You should separate Cross from them though, so he doesn't get sick as well."

"He can stay with me." Darling interjected. Kasai and Oti were trying to scramble over their mother's flank to look at their half-siblings. Adelaide looked over at Darling, shaking her head no before returning to grooming her cubs.

Kimmati proudly licked her cubs clean once they were born, waiting for Raja to come to see them. One- the larger- was entirely silent, and didn’t even attempt to open her mother, while the other kept opening and shutting her mouth, and occasionally letting out squeaks that she clearly couldn’t yet hear. It was rather endearing.
Kimmati had actually already decided their names before Raja got back, wanting to make sure they had names that she would like in her own children; Mauna and Nana.
As he drew near, she stated her choices in name so matter-of-factly that there wasn’t much room to argue; when Raja tried, Kimmati told him that he would have far more cubs than this and he could help with naming many other future litters.
He eventually accepted it, and realised that this meant he would need to hunt again. But this time, there was far more hope for a good hunt. It was spring, prey was starting to re-emerge, and they already had a good catch. And no lion would be anything other than proud to look after two healthy young cubs.

Impisi froze for a moment. 'W-What is this? Who is that?' His head seemed to shake, not taking in information.

However, as the King caught the eye of his beloved. He couldn't just stand there. Impisi, or Snuggles as he was in battle, dashed up to his Queen, tacking the strange male on top of her. Letting out a growl, he slashed at the male's face, causing a large scar come across the other's muzzle.

As the male was pushed back away from him, Snuggles roared as loud as he could to the strange male. "Leave. Now." He muttered, not allowing for any argument.

It isn't an easy battle, the loner male is determined to secure himself a pride, but 'Snuggles' is eventually victorious in pinning his opponent. He can either kill, exile, or indoctrinate the defeated male. But keep in mind that if taken into the pride, the male might attempt a take-over.
During the fight Nomvula goes into labor. She manages to give birth to and shield her one birthed cub.

Ibala's eyes were still sealed shut, as well as his ears were closed. He could feel the heat from his mother, remembering her smell and staying close to it. The male cub could hear muffled shouting, not exactly understanding what it was. However, he was startled when a splat of something wet and sticky hit his soft fur. It smelled rancid and odd, something he wanted off of him. Soon, the long tongue of who he assumed was his mother was covering him and going through his fur with quick laps. He didn't understand what was going on, but was glad to have the odd liquid off of him.

[center]Raja was a big softy, really. Kimmati could see it in his eyes whenever he was around the cubs.
“Mam! When can we go out to explore!” Nana asked, for what felt like the hundredth time. Mauna nodded enthusiastically to that idea. The older, larger cub still hadn’t spoken, but it was obvious from how the two of them acted that Mauna was in charge. Mauna could silence her sister with a single look when she wanted to. It seemed like she wasn’t speaking because she just didn’t see a need to, or maybe she’d developed such expressive eyes as a compromise from not being able to speak. Either way, she seemed to be managing well enough, and it was always clear what she wanted.
Raja didn’t try to egg them into anything, (or try unsuccessfully to give them meat) but he did play with them, letting the two of them use his tail as a toy, and climb all over him. Mauna had even tried eating his ear at one point, and Raja had pretended that it had been some skilful attack (and Kimmati had tried not to make “aww”ing noises, because they really were too small to think of them as anything other than infants yet). Kimmati thought he was making a rather good father to the cubs, even if it was unintentional.

Garmadon sighed. They had to risk it, Misako needed food. He picked up the boar, and began to drag it back to base. Misako would be birthing soon enough, he had to get back to her quickly!
